- Delete On behalf of Reporters Without Borders (Reporters sans frontières), I urge you to remove our address and not to change the new picture of the headquarter. As an international NGO working on press freedom, which was one of the main partners of Charlie Hebdo after the attacks in January, we were under protection by the police for weeks. In the light of the recent Paris terrorist attacks, we want to avoid unnecessary risks. We suppressed our geographical address from our communication tools, but it remains on our wikipedia page. Keep. There is no legal ground to remove that picture, the licence is valid. The only problem could come from the NoFoP in France, but the building is probably not copyrighted. However, I could see a deletion under COM:PCP, since there is no certainty about the copyright status of the building at the moment. --Scoopfinder(d) 17:51, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
Comment There is no legal reason, everybody agrees and we don't have to have a legal discussion here. These journalists are just taking some precautions after the terrorist attacks in Paris and they think it is not a good idea to publish their address and a photo of their headquarters. They politely ask if we could do with a less problematic picture they provided. We have done in the recent past courtesy deletions for more frivolous matters

Keep and Comment Ask RSF and Vivienne on google : You have plenty of sites with the parisian adress of RSF rue Vivienne. Including some sites of RSF itself such as this one http://fr.rsf.org/faire-un-don-11-05-2009,32911.html (this is a site for the gifts to RSF ; the adress is given for letters and mails). So please clean your sites before asking cleaning here in WP for a photo that I made only for the esthetic of the building. Three years ago. I did not know who work or live here. A consensus seems to have been reached on the French project to abstain from using this picture to illustrate the article on RSF. On the other hand, the picture of the door is quite silly and has a low EV. I will ask the RSF lawyer to provide us with a more informative picture. I am nominating all of this user's uploads of images of naval vessels. I have found more than half of them on other sites with clear copyright notices. The rest are either old B&W images unlikely to be "own work" as claimed, or images that almost certainly are official -- the navies of Egypt and China (among others) are very unlikely to allow private aircraft close enough to take these.

- The copyright holder is the ISO organisation, who have contested the CC and PD licences these are tagged with (I agree personally, I think these pass the threshold of originality). - Some of them (the first two, certainly) are unlikely to be original enough to be copyrighted in the US. I don't know about country of origin here so they either should be kept (if it's the US or a place with an US like TOO) or deleted here and uploaded maybe on projects where they'd be acceptable. - DIN standards are protected by copyright, although the DIN symbols may be below TOO in Germany. One set of safety symbols that are unquestionably public domain are the AIGA symbols. - ISO is located in Switzerland, so is that the source country? COM:TOO doesn't have a lot of information about Swiss symbols, so it is difficult to determine whether the symbols are copyrighted in Switzerland or not. Some of the symbols are below the threshold of originality in the United States while other symbols seem to be above the threshold of originality. - DIN norms come from Germany. en:CEN is in Bruxelles. Per their history, ISO was formed in London but the first standard was published after their seating to Switzerland. I don't know when it started creating (or assembling already existing?) symbols, though. Assuming that that makes Switzerland the Country of Origin, the law in question requires "mental (?) creations with individual character". I am reluctantly doubtful that the ISO symbols are individual enough to reach a copyrightable status according to this definition. At least simple arrows would surely not be creative enough given that simple photographic snapshots aren't either.

- strong keep, the ISO claims are ridiculous, they are anything but the holder of copyright. Unless they name the creators of each and every of those signs and are able to provide us with a full chain of transfer from the original creator to themselves, we should simply ignore them. Even if they could provide such a chain of transfer, they would still have to prove that each and every sign was original at the time of drawing, and the differences from any older sign met the threshold of originality. I tried to research how the ISO symbols were created, namely to determine when/how they were created. This was one of the first search engine results, but the information about the creation isn't displayed…instead it gives the message: "Only informative sections of standards are publicly available. To view the full content, you will need to purchase the standard by clicking on the "Buy" button." The document is US$193!
For ANSI symbols, one of the FAQ, "Why charge for standards?", says: "Intellectual property and commercial value issues. The information contained in a standard is the intellectual property of the developing organization. When others want to use this property, they are expected to pay a fair value for it. If incorporating the content of a standard is deemed necessary in the development of a product or service, obtaining this intellectual property should be seen as no different from obtaining any other component of the product." Another FAQ is "Why are some documents non printable? Those documents cannot be printed at the request of the copyright holder." Therefore, I can't determine if any of the ANSI symbols are copyright-free. The English Wikipedia article for en:Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) says that it is the German member of ISO.

Apparently scanned from a book or books. File:Batrachostomus affinis.jpg is sourced to a person who died in 1929, but the source seems to be too unspecific to verify the authorship claim. The rest of the files are listed as own work by the uploader, which obviously isn't correct. Sources are needed so that the authors can be established (needed for the source country copyright status), and publication data is needed so that the copyright status in the United States can be determined.

- Civa, Ellin Beltz : the photo was part of a wikinews article about Tamil Tiger / Tamil protest in Paris, along the 2008–09 Sri Lankan Army Northern offensive / Eelam War IV. The image, as an open source photograph, may have been reused by external sources. This appears to be an official portrait from the show, and not the user's own work at all. Therefore it is not a free image and should not be hosted on Commons, although an upload directly to Wikipedia with an appropriate fair-use rationale may be acceptable. - Png files often are screen shots of original photos. To the admin closing this DR: Please note that the name of the file now is File:New Cambridge Lofts Facade.png because of renaming. Please also note File:Screen Shot 2015-07-22 at 1.21.50 PM.png which is another screen shot of the uploader with "own work" which has been drawn "by architectural firm Richards Berretti Jellenick", see description. So the uploader has to be identical with Richards Berretti Jellenick, if he really is the author of that drawing, but he didn't prove that anywhere. He uploaded a file of that building at File:New Cambridge Lofts, 2011.jpg. That photo has another author: Rafal Dyrda. And the source is GeniePad which seems to be geniepad.com. There is existing this page about that modern building in the internet (where I didn't find the photos or the graphic, but there are also non-public pages and maybe anyone can find that photo which has its source there): https://ncl.geniepad.com/, https://ncl.geniepad.com/public/pages/the-building. Anyway, I doubt that one of the files is own work of the uploader, until he proves that he is the architect of the building and really has drawn File:Screen Shot 2015-07-22 at 1.21.50 PM.png which is copyrighted by Richards Berretti Jellenick and not by any uploader.
