- @Hedwig in Washington: Hi Hedwig, thanks for the follow up. The game sources are available at Github: [1]. Specifically a resource image of the game: [2]. Note that the game is published under the GNU GPL V3, and all content disputed was published (and available on wikipedia) almost 8 years now.
Hopefully mr.Czar takedown opinion is not based on the fact that the game is a tetramino based game, because such concept is not copyrightable as I would think he knows http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl108.html.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Uze6666 (talk • contribs)

- Unless the game is specifically identified as (free) which it wasn't, images of games are assumed to be copyrighted material and not the copyright of the uploader. As it stands "AVR Megatris" appears to indeed be GPL3-licensed[3][4], so copyright concern withdrawn. @Uze6666, thanks for your help. @Hedwig in Washington, what's the best way to mark this on the file page (that the screenshot is GPL3 but the image is cc-by-sa)? – czar 00:30, 26 July 2015 (UTC)

- If you are the actual copyright holder of the file (who actually given permission or uploaded directly to drbwiki.de in 2008), please leave a message in the OTRS Noticeboard (if the permission is valid). If you want to do legal actions, please addres them to the user who originally uploaded the file in 2008, not to the WMF.
- Also, only editions from this user are this DR, that is very suspecious, or, at least, is just trolling. File has been released in the PD, so nothing to do, unfortunatelly. --Amitie 10g (talk) 20:57, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
- The support team has got two messages from different email addresses, one from 2008 stating the permission to use, another one from 2015 requiring the deletion of the file. There is no clue which of these messages is fake and which is real (probably Leyo is right: both are authentic and from the same person who has changed his mind, which is not provided in our rules). - These files are beyond insane in claiming ineligibility. For example, on File:Ant-Man.png there are several different artistic decisions – texture, chamfering, glossing, gradient, "3-D" bulge, styling of the serifs, styling of the variable kerning, lighting choices – which each individually would attain copyright threshold status in most caselaw I've studied. I could delete the lot, but it really needs a proper discussion about the Commons community agreeing that this "ineligible" nonsense is simply us committing copyfraud, and needs to stop. Just because it's against a copyright claim owned by a company doesn't mean it's OK to ignore the rights, however much it means we can't illustrate people's favourite comic books with 'free' material. - Keep Japanese agents/producers don't like free-licensed amateur pictures, that's a fact, so they try to find bogus reasons to remove them from Wikimedia Commons (see similar DRs), but it won't work here I'm afraid, unless some proof is sent to legal@wikimedia.org. - Some explanation. Although Matejko's original works are PD, these pictures are not verbatim copies of original work, but pictures of hand-made paintings by Mr. Piotr Walerski. It could be proven by close look on the pictures (among others: there is visible signature of Mr. Walerski at the bottom of it). Paintings of Mr. Walerski are not verbatim copies. He always changes color and shapes of minor details on his copies to make them slightly different than original works of Matejko. The first uploaded picture of this painting is a verbatim copy of Matejko paintings, but were overuploaded by User:An678ko. Moi - André Payan-Passeron - auteur de cette photo, retouchée sans mon autorisation par des intervenants sur Wikimedia Commons qui ont fait disparaître le premier plan et donc (1) les fleurs alpines blanches en question et (2) les personnes dont j'avais pourtant pris soin de rendre méconnaissables les visages. Qui a ainsi retouché cette photo originale prise par moi avec des fleurs rares au premier plan ? Merci de recréer la photo d'origine et merci à Jean11 de s'exprimer en français sur un article "Entraunes" de Wikipédia FRANCE. - The Lenovo images may be consistent enough to be taken by a single person, but they may just be grabbed from the same source. I'm also concerned that at least some of them appear to be derivatives of pre-existing works. For example, File:جامع وتكية السيد محمد الجباري.JPG appears to have multiple layers of blurriness and grain and a vertical shadow that is not consistent with a directly captured scene. File:Al majedya mosque in karkuk.JPG has a moiré pattern characteristic of a computer or television screen. Some of the deleted "Own work" book covers were reproduced using the Lenovo, so it's not surprising that there are other less obvious derivative works. So even assuming for the sake of argument that the Lenovo belongs to the uploader, it remains to be sorted out which photos are original and which aren't and who took the original photos. If anything, I'd be more inclined to assume good faith for the Nokia C5-00.2 photos, but I think there's just too much uncertainty with this uploader. —LX (talk, contribs) 14:06, 23 July 2015 (UTC)
Hi, It seems to me that there is a misunderstanding as some images in my blogs (usamasaad), (http://abu-hanefa.blogspot.com/2013/06/blog-post_29.html), and same pictures I take it from my family album more than 100 years ago, like a picture of my family al shakir in baghdad in 1901, but three or four pictures I take it from a (post card), or it is a puplic work, or I take it my self.

- Some of the photos you have claimed to be the author and copyright holder of are actually copyrighted by major companies like AFP that do not hesitate to go after unauthorised uses of their works. A single such photo can be extremely damaging to this project and its users. To protect them, we have to err on the side of caution if we can't be sure which of your claims are true and which ones aren't.
- Please understand that finding a photo on the Internet does not make it your own work. Copying someone else's work by taking a photo of another photo, book cover, postcard or similar does not make it your own work. A postcard from 2007 would not be in the public domain, and even if it were, it still wouldn't be your own work.
- All files on Commons must have truthful source, authorship and copyright information. As I stated above, some of the images you have uploaded may be old enough that the copyright has expired, but truthful source and authorship information is required to determine that. The date and location of creation and of first publication are also important. - The most recent works covered by {{PD-Iraq}} are photographic or cinematic works that are not compositive (artistic in nature) first published before 1 January 1999. It certainly doesn't apply to this AFP photo, taken a week ago by Farshad Usyan, which Usamasaad claimed to have personally created. It doesn't apply to screen grabs of Youtube videos published in 2011 or a 2008 photo grabbed from Panoramio. So if what you're suggesting is that we should just close this discussion, keep all the files and do nothing but add {{PD-Iraq}} to all of them, that is absolutely not a viable solution. —LX (talk, contribs) 12:12, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, but considering the edits you just made, for example adding {{PD-Iraq}} to File:جامع الخلاني في بغداد.JPG, I don't think you do understand. As I mentioned above, you grabbed that photo from Panoramio. On the file description page, you're still claiming that it's your own work and that you're the author, and now you've also added the claim that it is in the public domain for one of the reasons listed in {{PD-Iraq}}, none of which is true. As stated on the file description page on Panoramio, the photo was taken in 2008 by a man named Salih Habeeb and is protected by copyright. - Again, that's simply not true. The version you uploaded has been stripped of metadata, but the version on Panoramio comes directly from Salih Habeeb's camera and still has its metadata, showing that it was taken on 2008-10-21 with a Canon Digital Ixus 60, just like Mr Habeeb's other photos. It is not your work, nor is it your friend's work, nor does it come from a magazine. The profile pictures uploaded here seem to be Google+ profile pictures. - Comment The original painting is PD, because it was drawn by Kanō Tan'yū in 1651. I think this image should not be {{Own work}} of the uplaoder, was taken from an image (in the webcite of Shimonoseki Tourism & Convention Association). The image in the web cite is the derivative work of the book cover titled "Mōri clan and Shimonoseki". Per Commons:Reuse of PD-Art photographs#Japan, I think it's OK. - This is no POV, i have proved that this image is not from NASA. Or do you think that NASA makes images with a camera from Roscosmos/GCTC? Many images from other space agencies get an JSC center tag, see here. This is not a proof of NASA's origin and BTW NASA makes many errors with pictures e.g. here. - Because, judging by the age of the artist, it was taken sometime in the 1980s or 90s, prior to digital photography. So it is a scan from somewhere else. Besides, it looks like it is taken in a private setting, so it is likely a promotional or press-release photo. Was User:RonsterBlum the official photographer for Hartmann, thereby owning the rights to this photo? Very doubtful indeed. --P 1 9 9 ✉ 13:04, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
