[edit]It has been explained that the file was downloaded from a site (https://webdisk.nu.or.id/nasional/awal-mula-viralnya-istilah-dekengane-pusat-milik-gus-iqdam-N5Qum), where the site took a screenshot of a video from a YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@gusiqdamofficial1024/streams). Questionable authorship claim, contradicted by EXIF. The authors on EXIF do not match each other, much less the uploader name. 3 uploads by User:Lasimpson504.
"Author = Paula Burch-Celentano
Copyright holder = Copyright 2014 Tulane University"
"Author = Sally Asher
Copyright holder = Copyright 2015 Tulane University"
(I note this is the same Sally Asher who was FURIOUS about the images she photographed and uploaded to Flickr after seeing how a celebrated/notorious Wikimedian bulk copied them here, putting his own name in the "source" space - so much so that it resulted in Tulane University removing it's free licensed images from the internet, and giving Wikimedia a disreputable rating with the University. I've been pecking away trying to clean this up for years but am still finding the sad results. I mention this here because in short the esteemed scholar and photographer Sally Asher is not likely to be casual about her work being on Wikimedia with improper attribution.)
- File:Errol C. Barron.jpg - no EXIF at all, small size web resolution. I did not succeed in finding earlier web source in reverse image search.
-- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 02:08, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Infrogmation: He was born in 1941 so if he was 61 in the image it would have been taken around 2000. The sepia tone is deceptive. You mentioned that Tulane University had the images freely licensed in the past, those licenses are usually irrevocable. Were them some of them? We can always fix the faulty attribution. --RAN (talk) 03:05, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- If there were anything verifiable that they are free licensed, fine, correct any errors. At present there is not. As far as I can determine, Asher stopped sharing University photos under free licenses in 2013. -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 17:00, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

I get the mention in the source section of the infobox. However, we should separate a simple vectorization and an artistic recreation or reinterpretation of an ancient coin, something, actually, which is quite common in Greece with many municipalities following that path for the creation of their respective logos. 🏺ⲈⲨⲐⲨⲘⲈⲚⲎⲊ🏛️ ⲱⲑⲏⲥⲁⲧⲉ 07:45, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- At best this should be moved to a fair use license on Wikipedia. There seems to be an ever-increasing number of people on Wikimedia over the years who are members of the purity brigade and whose sole purpose / source of joy in life is to delete files on spurious grounds. I would highly contest whether vectorising a 2000 year old coin counts as copyrighted material. It is not an original work. Sarah fides (talk) 10:49, 1 October 2024 (UTC)

Can you elaborate further on why you think simple black & white scans of ancient coins qualify for copyright? They are a reproduction of an ancient artwork. Redundant and flawed AI upscale, seemingly based on the extremely low resolution File:Alexis Thérèse Petit.jpg.
The image is misidentified, being François Arago rather than Alexis Thérèse Petit, and Commons already has a high resolution and captioned-in-image version of the same drawing of Arago at File:Portret van de astronoom François Arago Arago, François Jean Dominique (titel op object) Leden van het Institut Royal de France (serietitel) Iconographie de l'Institut royal de France (serietitel op object), RP-P-1911-934.jpg. - Keep. The uploader claims to be David Black and all uploads were made before his date of death. This is tough to verify 100%, given his death, but the whole portfolio of images by the uploader contain dates, technical measurements, and other details which strongly suggest these were indeed uploaded by David Black. Assuming good faith and seeing no evidence to the contrary, I think these are safe to keep. IronGargoyle (talk) 04:54, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- If that's the case then someone should undelete all the David Black photos uploaded by this user which were previously already deleted (see the uploader's talk page for the nomination alerts). Nakonana (talk) 01:21, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
- Comment @IronGargoyle: I'd love to see if there are evidences @DBSculpture: was indeed registered, logged in and used by uploading files by David himself during his life. - I think that tag seems reasonable. For me, the evidence is compelling in its entirety. The combination of a credit line of David Black and/or DBSculpture is important on its own, and only the sculptor himself is likely to preserve and provide such precise dimensional measurements of the statues. Traveling around the world to take pictures of David Black statues also seems like an activity very likely to be undertaken by David Black himself. IronGargoyle (talk) 20:49, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

- It's on scope for tagging in New Zealand and for the specific kind of wooden wall. Darwin Ahoy! 00:21, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- That isn't a historical building and the graffiti isn't even properly captured in the image. I fail to see what educational value this image could ever potentially hold. Traumnovelle (talk) 00:06, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- Delete I really don't see the educational value of a partial graffiti tag. We have lots of better images of graffiti (that aren't cropped in half). The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 03:13, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
- Keep the alleged lack of description and categorization isn't reason to delete. Graffiti is a form of expression, the location is given, the building is relevant. This is absolutely within scope. Rkieferbaum (talk) 10:29, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
This file is claimed to be in PD in China, which may be true, since the source was "《人民画报》1965年第2期". So 1965+5+1=January 1, 2016. However, I doubt the U.S. tag is correct unless the uploader can prove the image was also simultaneously published in the U.S. the same time as it was first published in China. This is a foreign work, and pre-1978 works that weren't simultaneously published in the U.S. are eligible for a longer U.S. term of 95+1 years due to COM:URAA-restored copyrights.
