Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel irc:wikimedia-commons #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

categories
[edit]Hi! Thanks for fixing categories of Greek Icons. I see some mistakes thou, as you should not put categories that are already on a higher level. Es. Greek Icons of Lamentation is already inside the category "Greek Icons" and "Paintings of Lamentation", so the images must only have "Greek Icons of Lamentation", only the most specific one --Sailko (talk) 14:26, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

@Sailko: Thank You, we will take your thoughts into consideration..Tzim78 (talk) 15:34, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
@Sailko: The policy at Wikipedia and Wikimedia is to add as many categories as possible to help search engines disseminate pertinent information for each subcategory. The more categories that exist colleges, universities, museums, and researchers can accurately find the correct information. The more categories the better. You can help Wikipedia by adding the correct placement for each category.
- Mmm, no you are wrong, and this is what I am trying to tell you. Categories are not hashtags, they are like boxes, where you have to be able to find the proper images. For example, if I upload an image of Athens, it doesn't have to be inside Greece, Europe, World as well, otherwise those categories will be overcrowded and nobody will be able to use them. Please only use the most specific category for each image. If hope you understand now. --Sailko (talk) 16:05, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

- In order to be your opinion visible, it should be on the discussions pages. Also, a PD tag can apply to a recent work by someone else only if it is a faithful reproduction of a 2D artwork. The tagged photos depict 3D objects (church interiors and wood carvings, not just frescos or paintings) and thus, PD-Art can't apply and as the original photos aren't available with compatible licenses they can't stay in commons. --C messier (talk) 22:55, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
- I wrote the article for that specific work of art. I wrote over 60 articles on wikipedia pertaining to artworks. All of the artwork I wrote about including the one you are referring to is over 600 years old. None of the images are 3d.Tzim78 (talk) 23:39, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
- I didn't mention 3D images, I mentioned images (photos) of 3D objects. Please read COM:ART concerning PD-Art and 3D objects: PD-Art cannot be used for 3D objects such as sculpture, even if the sculpture is very old. Also the rest of your photos don't have such a problem, as they are just the paintings, where PD-Art can apply (but you should mention the source {website url} for those you found online). --C messier (talk) 23:59, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
- I do not like being accused of committing copyright infringement. I prefer that we stop talking, our issue is on a discussion board. Thank You.Tzim78 (talk) 00:02, 13 February 2022 (UTC)

File:Photius Fisk Jonathan Walker Monument.png
[edit]Good day. Thanks for uploading File:Photius Fisk Jonathan Walker Monument.png. You described it, I presume mistakenly, as a 2021 work by yourself, whereas it looks to be a 19th century engraving. That would be fine, public domain, but information on actual source would be helpful. Thanks. -- Infrogmation of New Orleans (talk) 21:39, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

- I took this photograph in 2012 when I was in Lesvos, Greece during Easter and uploaded it and other photos I took of the church when I created the churches wikipedia page. The original photograph was also taken before the death of the priest which is listed on the photograph so the copyright on the image has expired. Attached are the original photographs with EXIF data and my cameras information.
