Wiki Loves Folklore 2022 in India is on!

Hello Steinsplitter/Archive/2023,

Greetings from Wiki Loves Folklore India Team!

Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photography contest organized on Wikimedia Commons, this campaign invites participants to document folklore and intangible cultural heritage from different regions, including, folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folktales, folk games, folk religion, mythology and many more. Let's help to protect and develop our intangible Indian culture, which consists of customs or active expressions that we have acquired from our ancestors and passed down to our offspring.

How to Contribute?

The dates for the submission in the photography contest on Wikimedia Commons are from 1 February to 31 March 2023. Probably you are wondering how you can take part. It’s simple: grab a camera, record an image, video or audio under the folklore theme, create a Wikimedia account and start uploading! To learn more about the rules, check out our Project page on Wikimedia Commons.

Below are the exciting prizes which you can win internationally an locally. (Contributors can win both International and Local Prizes as well )

Rotate Bot

Beim Rotieren hat der Bot das Bild von 9000 Pixel auf 8992 Pixel abgeschnitten und um 3MB vergrößert, obwohl das Einfügen eines exif-orientation-werts für die Rotation genügt hätte (hier und in einem weiteren Fall manuell behoben, aber es könnte ja weitere geben) C.Suthorn (@Life_is@no-pony.farm) (talk) 08:56, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

@C.Suthorn: The images are rotated with the lossless (which means “no generation loss” here; note that even “lossless” jpegtran rotation can be slightly lossy [depends on the image's dimensions; at maximum 16 pixels are cropped at borders if a image is not consisting of full jpeg blocks – like most digi cam images are] but no new compression artifacts are added) rotate tools jpegtran (and ExifTool) for jpgs and ImageMagick for pngs and gifs. --Steinsplitter (talk) 09:01, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Look for uncategorised files in a category - once off?

Hi. Is it possible to get the bot to look for uncategorised files in a specific category? I am finding numerous files that don't have categories in Category:Photographs by Justin Higuchi - it would be useful to have the bot scan this file as a once off so i can categorise any files without cats that it finds Gbawden (talk) 10:26, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

Don't do any final fancy movement

Rotating photos

Hallo Steinsplitter! Sorry my english...I put two photos on https://it.wikibooks.org/wiki/Disposizioni_foniche_di_organi_a_canne/Italia/Lazio/Provincia_di_Viterbo/Ronciglione/Ronciglione_-_Oratorio_del_Santissimo_Rosario , in sunday evening, but have not been rotated.. It seems indeed that rotating by Steinsplitterbot is stuck, see Category:Images requiring rotation by bot, which contains almost 300 images now. --Lymantria (talk) 12:17, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

Template:PermissionTicket/Users

There is a strange sequence in the chrono of Template:PermissionTicket/Users/raw. Given that the table is incomplete I started investigating.

When the bot FuzzyBot moved Template:PermissionTicket/Users/raw from Template:OTRS/Users/raw on 27 May 2021 SteinsplitterBot blanked (15 December 2021) the page and then made two big changes (5 February). From that moment the table no longer contains the data in the second and third columns.

Files with only hidden categories- does this bot tag ALL these files with "Media needing categories as of ..."

Just want to say...

THANK YOU. You, and them people who take care of renaming files, demonstrate an amazing reactivity. I've fallen into "Category:Satellite pictures of Cuba", fascinating pics and some are ever so useful but need clearer indications and dispatching in more localized categs and it's such a huge categ I don't even dare looking at how many pages there are in there (don't tell!). Been into that for some days now, and more often than not I don't even have time to finish a series before you lot have already renamed and rotated the ones I've already done. Which 'incentives' me into (sleeping less for the sake of) doing some more (so there's some good and some bad there but the bad is mine entirely and) I'm still gobsmacked again and again at how goddamn fast you lot are.
