Copyright status: File:CHE Thusis COA.svg
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:CHE Thusis COA.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

Creation OpenStreetMap Logo Togo
Hi SpinnerLaserzthe2nd !
I've seen that you've created some OpenStreetMap logos (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:OpenStreetMap_SVG_logos) with country flags, like File:Mychosm Nigeria.svg.
Would you be willing to create one in the same way with the flag of Togo? — Koreller (talk) 17:14, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
Graubünden: Global replacements
Thanks for completing the transfer of the official Graubünden municipal arms to Commons, which is an effort that had been neglected for a long time (project writeup in German from nine months ago). Please feel free to replace the previously used versions globally across all wikis! ARK (talk) 13:54, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi, please do not put Taiwanese flags into those categories. e.g.File:Flag of Minkuotang.svg, File:Flag of Penghu County.svg Mike Rohsopht (talk) 11:44, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Do not remove information. And this is a modern version, so it has its own license. Thanks, Yann (talk) 15:20, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- I am disputing this because it is a Swiss coat of arms. It should have a COAInformation and a PD-Coa-Switzerland templates. This is called revision of description and it is not a bad thing since it adds more information about the file. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 17:50, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Céligny COA and flag
Hi, I don't understand your decision to suddenly come back on this file overwriting it. Your statement "Geneva doesn't have an official palette" is false as we decided that for Geneva we would make files according to the blue tone in use. Some municipality use sky blue and others use a darker tones, so there should be a mix of CH-1 and CH-2 in the canton of Geneva. There is no such thing as a Romandie palette anymore since we've decided the CH palette would allow both kind of azure. So from now on thanks for not overwriting files based only on tincture. If you disagree with something please try my talk page before overwriting again. Kind regards, Espandero (talk) 17:36, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- You going to tell ARK the same too? Because we really don’t know if Geneva cantonal government had its own palettes. ARK and I had tired to correct the palettes of a COA. SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 17:40, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
- Changing File:CHE Céligny Flag var.svg made sense because it wasn't using the palettes we created. Now I don't understand what you mean by "we don't know if Geneva ... had its own palettes". As far as I'm concerned palettes are a thing on Commons but not a law. We're only using them to have some sort of unity between the files we create. It doesn't matter if we're inch perfect according to what's been done in the canton in the past. If you want to adjust a palette on a file using the CH palette please upload a separate "CHE ... COA var" file. Thanks, Espandero (talk) 18:04, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Flag of Altona, Manitoba.png. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Lean SVG code that passes W3C validation
When revising your file CHE Combremont-le-Petit COA.svg last night, I reduced its size from 451 KB to 5 KB, thereby removing an amount of superfluous code that equals nearly 99% of the of the initial size. In Inkscape, such reductions of code bloat can easily be achieved by saving a file as 'optimised SVG' rather than the application's native version of SVG, and/or by passing the file through a service such as SVG Optimizer].
A file thus stripped down to bare SVG essentials will also effortlessly pass validation by the W3C Markup Validation Service – or used to, anyway. Recently, the W3C, the Web's standards-setting body, decided to make the SVG document type declaration a mandatory part of validation. Accordingly, here is the revised file preamble of CHE Combremont-le-Petit COA.svg, consisting of three lines: the XML declaration, the document type declaration, and the SVG root element:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg width="520" height="647" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg">
To comply with the W3C's novel validation requirement, an SVG file needs to be opened in a text editor, where the document type declaration can be pasted in between the XML declaration and the the SVG root element.
To advertise this post-production in the file description, the COAInformation template's image
field should be populated with the following notation in Image Generation code:
{{Image generation|H|+|o=0}}
This will insert the phrase 'The SVG code is valid' in the SVG development field, linking to the validation report that awards the file a clean bill of health as SVG 1.1.
Standards-compliant code makes life easier for everyone. Thanks! ARK (talk)

You create and upload great SVGs! I'm not sure if you create them yourself or use other vector data, but I wouldn't be able to create such SVGs on my own. Really great work, and I truly appreciate it—it’s a valuable contribution to WIKI.
Unfortunately, many of your SVGs are unusually and unnecessarily large. I'm genuinely unsure how they ended up being so big. Below is a list of SVGs whose code I have simplified. Their file size is now only a fraction of the previous versions. --Mrmw (talk) 17:23, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
