msm blood donation map

[edit]

hey! could you update File:MSM Blood Donation Map New.svg to make belgium yellow based on the new guidelines? thx mountainhead / ? 12:25, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Mountainhead: do you perhaps have a source for me on the new guidelines? The only one I could find was this article (a reference in en:Men who have sex with men blood donor controversy), but according to Google Translate that only talks about future plans to change the legislation. --Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 20:17, 17 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hybridization of AC/DC and VisualFileChange

[edit]

It'll be great to take file selection functionality from MediaWiki:Gadget-VisualFileChange.js. Or may be, even better, to merge AC/DC into it, so VisualFileChange would operated with textual descriptions and structured data. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 01:59, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@EugeneZelenko: This is already being discussed at Help talk:Gadget-ACDC#Visual file selection. --Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 21:12, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
File:Oakridge's clarice phelps.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Welcome! Please use this broom responsibly ;)

Hi Lucas,
as you might have already noticed, I added you to the interface administrator user group a couple of minutes ago. We haven't got an automated welcome template with all those helpful links, so you'll have to do with this manual message and a wooden broom ;) Thank you for your work and congratulations! odder (talk) 08:51, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Berliner Philharmoniker

[edit]

Dazu würde ich gern die Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn aufteilen in Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn (Dalal, 2010) und Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn (Marketvitch, 1958).

--Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 21:30, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, ähm, danke ;-) --Gnom (talk) 21:33, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
File:Haydn - The Creation (Dalal) - 1 The Representation of Chaos.oga|-Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn|+Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn (Dalal, 2010)
...
File:Joseph Haydn - Die Schöpfung - 01. Einleitung (Igor Markevitch, Berliner Philharmoniker, 1958).ogg|-Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn|+Category:Audio files of the Creation by Joseph Haydn (Marketvitch, 1958)
...

Hi Lucas Werkmeister, I am a bored bot (this is kind of a computer program) that is watching the recent changes and tapping buttons like I did now.

Curious about the reason? Possibly not but I will tell you anyway:

  1. You edited MediaWiki:Gadget-fastcci.js. Thank you for caring about Wikimedia Commons's javascript pages.
  2. Though, that change appears to introduce 1 new jshint issue — the page's status is now having warnings.
  3. To help you understanding where the issues are, I have aggregated a report here and now. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask users experienced in javascript writing for help. But do not ask the bot's operators (chronically overwrought) unless you suspect an error of mine.
  1. ISSUE: line 227 character 19: Duplicate key 'it'. - Evidence: it: 'migliori video',

Assistance requested

[edit]

Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for your help at Template:PD-USGov-Military, it’s much appreciated! I added an archived link to show where the old seal originated from. I do have another request: I am trying to update Template:PD-USGov-USDA’s logo to the agency’s seal to match all of the other US Cabinet agencies but can’t figure out the template. Do you know how and if so, can you explain it to me, please?

I’m tempted to update it (along with a majority of the PD-USGov templates) to match Template:PD-USGov-HHS’s layout as most of the templates haven’t been updated since 2009 or 2010 and it’s much easier for template editors/admin to edit should they need to. What’s your thoughts? Should I discuss is somewhere before making the layout changes? Thanks, Corky 06:10, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Corkythehornetfan Probably worth bringing it up somewhere but I have no idea where would be the right place, to be honest. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 20:03, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good, I'll ask an admin! Thanks! Corky 00:59, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Need your input on a policy impacting gadgets and UserJS

[edit]

Dear interface administrator,

This is Samuel from the Security team and I hope my message finds you well.

There is an ongoing discussion on a proposed policy governing the use of external resources in gadgets and UserJS. The proposed Third-party resources policy aims at making the UserJS and Gadgets landscape a bit safer by encouraging best practices around external resources. After an initial non-public conversation with a small number of interface admins and staff, we've launched a much larger, public consultation to get a wider pool of feedback for improving the policy proposal. Based on the ideas received so far, the proposed policy now includes some of the risks related to user scripts and gadgets loading third-party resources, best practices for gadgets and UserJS developers, and exemptions requirements such as code transparency and inspectability.

As an interface administrator, your feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome until July 17, 2023 on the policy talk page.

Have a great day!

Samuel (WMF), on behalf of the Foundation's Security team 23:02, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gadget updaten

[edit]

How to deal with seemingly unused gadgets needing an update (technical Village pump). — Speravir – 01:05, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nur kurz: Danke! Geht wieder bestens. — Speravir – 23:13, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

yes, thumb up. — Speravir – 21:38, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Lucas - I'm writing because you edited this template recently. Is there any chance that you can action this request to remove the requirement for a publication date? That wording was introduced without being specifically discussed years ago, and no Commons admins have taken action despite various attempts to draw attention to it. Thank you. AC/DC

[edit]

I have been playing with AC/DC and found a category with over 2,000 entries (Category:British Rail Class 43s of Great Western Railway (First Group)) AC/DC does not like this very much. It has to load every image before I get the depicts box. On Safari it has been loading the category for about an hour now. I closed the box, loaded it again and now it is frozen. No contributions are happening on my account.

Last night I set it running and it stopped with an error. When it restarted it didn't do anything. I know this is not a good error report but if you play with AC/DC on the massive category you'll see what I mean. Secretlondon (talk) 14:24, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And now AC/DC has gone from my commons toolbar so maybe I killed it ;) Secretlondon (talk) 14:28, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Secretlondon: Well, I just updated the code, but there shouldn’t have been any changes – which browser are you using? Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 14:29, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Safari on OSX 12.6 Secretlondon (talk) 15:43, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’ve reverted my changes, it turns out they broke the gadget in general (I guess when I tested it immediately after saving, the old code was still cached). Sorry about that. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 16:14, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Secretlondon: I think I’ve managed to fix the problem properly – does it work for you now? Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 16:26, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
it works now - thank you. Secretlondon (talk) 16:34, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Secretlondon: And anyways, regarding your initial question… I don’t think I have a better answer than “thousands of files is well beyond the intended use case for this gadget”, sorry :/ Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 18:32, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If it does it again would a detailed error and behaviour be useful anyway? Secretlondon (talk) 19:06, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I guess… I wouldn’t really expect any outright errors, I would just expect it to become unusably slow. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 19:16, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see that updated this page several times. I added a URL but it doesn't work. I still get the message "Copy uploads are not available from this domain." Is there anything else to be done? Thanks, Yann (talk) 14:50, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Yann: What is the URL you tried to upload? Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 23:13, 18 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cat-a-lot failing - could you solve this?

[edit]

I saw you made a change on MediaWiki:Gadget-Cat-a-lot.js. Can you fix another problem on Cat-a-log as well? Ever since February it does not work for categories with subctegories. See for instance Cat-a-lot failing 202402 and Commons:Village pump/Technical#Cat-a-lot still doesn't work well (with links to earlier requests to solve this issue). JopkeB (talk) 04:03, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@JopkeB: I don’t think so, sorry… I’ve just been fulfilling edit requests. I don’t know Cat-a-lot’s code at all (I don’t even use the gadget myself), so I have no idea why it doesn’t work or what one would have to change to make it work. If someone else can figure it out (probably by copying the code to a user script and then tinkering with it there), I can apply the resulting fix to the gadget once it’s ready. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 20:29, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Doc James: I don't think so, sorry – I only have OAuth privileges on the beta cluster (AFAIK). Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 10:33, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay who has OAuth privileges here? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 10:37, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In my experience the OAuth admins are usually pretty fast to review requests, but you could also use {{oauthapprequest}} on meta:Steward requests/Miscellaneous. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 13:49, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
FYI It seems broken on Firefox. Prototyperspective (talk) 10:36, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Prototyperspective Works fine for me on Firefox and Chrome. What sort of extensions do you have running? Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 10:39, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It works only after changing the default of Privacy Badger to block only cookies but not domain "uicdn.toast.com". If you'd like to make it more accessible, I guess try to replace how much that domain is used (or remove it) or try changing this default Privacy Badger setting. Other than that this would be a thing to put in the FAQ for those who have this addon since it usually never causes any problems like that. Prototyperspective (talk) 10:48, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First step is to get it functional. And then yes a FAQ around Privacy Badger blocking functionality will be required. Not sure if it is possible to remove this domain and for it to still work. Will look. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 10:52, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You should load those styles from toolforge:cdnjs instead (tui-image-editor.css is identical, though I assume you could also use tui-image-editor.min.css instead) – third-party resources are generally not allowed on Wikimedia Cloud Services. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 13:47, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Prototyperspective Hassan said they have fixed the issue. Let me know if it works better now. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 00:18, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Great, yes it does, thanks. Prototyperspective (talk) 14:18, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania

[edit]

Hello I gave presentation on Wikimania about Structured Data and I was speaking about your AC/DC tool. I want to thank you for this tool.

@PMG: I was in the room :) it was a great session despite the limited time, thank you! Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 07:12, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AC DC publish button

[edit]
Example

Hello I am not sure if its only on my side, or this is for all AC/DC users but is there a reason why on my side "process" button have colors of Asexual Flag? I checked github and there is no changes except chromedriver, so I was supprised with this change. Not that I protest - as long as its a11y and works is fine for me. But I am asking because its not typical change in software. PMG (talk) 13:07, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It’s an easter egg for bi visibility day (the flag is bisexual pride flag (Q1426529), not asexual pride flag (Q61642208)) and it’s been there for a few years already :) Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 14:02, 23 September 2024 (UTC)User:PMG forgot to ping Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 14:24, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Though you’re not the first one to be confused by it either ^^ (cc @Ciell) Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 14:05, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

✓ All done, and since the previous message was apparently not clear enough: please don’t post edit requests on my talk page. I watch the tracking category, I’ll see them there. Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 18:57, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
