Image Tagging Image:488 Intelligence Squadron patch.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:488 Intelligence Squadron patch.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use GFDL to release it under the multilicense GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.

Sorry for not answering your previous query, I thought I already did.
I will look into preserving the categories. In any case I plan to do the "image exists" check is some nifty JavaScript way.
I have no plans yet to do anything on geocoding, but that is because I don't have time to ;) Maybe later. -- Bryan (talk to me) 16:42, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

Wouldn't the Surco site still justify use? The onus is not on the users here to track through the entire maze of how a photo came to be where it is. It is hosted on Surco with a disclaimer that it can be used. If Surco is in violation of copyright law then they should be held accountable ... wikimedia wouldn't be. There are also a myriad of legal ways that Surco could have came up with the photo, that allow them to use it with a disclaimer as they have it. Redthoreau 17:57, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

deprecated function in your monobook.js
Dear user, I noticed that you use the includePage function in your monobook.js page.
This function is now obsolete, as the importScript function was introduced with rev:35064 to the MediaWiki Javascript core library wikibits.js. It also keeps track of already imported files.
To allow us to remove includePage from Mediawiki:Common.js I'd kindly ask you to replace its use with importScript (same syntax!). Thanks! --Dschwen 17:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC) curious nekclace

I'm not on Commons very often, Kelly, and just found your message from July 19th. I would be grateful if you would explain the issue a little more fully. I took the photo of the car's bumper, and released all rights, so that can't be it. Are you indicating that the item stuck to the bumper is copyright? If so, I don't believe that is correct. The FSM website provides the same basic graphic for use as a computer "button", with the statement "This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 License." I will now see if I can figure out how to add this information to the formal discussion. Tim Ross (talk) 16:59, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Flickr Images
Hi, please pay attention that there are different resolutions on flickr, please allways select the maximum resolution for uploads and crops. Please give your files proper filenames, that means: no CAPS LOCK and no ! or something. David Tyree catch.jpg or something like that would be a much better filename for Image:!DAVID FN TYREE.jpg (espacially the ! is realy unhandsome) --Martin H. (talk) 00:22, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Some hint: if you want an image listet at the begining of a category you can use , if you select a space character as sortkey (...| ]]) the image will be shown in front. But please no !s or other signs. --Martin H. (talk) 00:25, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- I am not stupid and have uploaded hundreds of images from Flickr, look at my history. I use Flickr Upload Bot, which always selects the maximum resolution. In regards to the crops, I've been moving over them over "as is" from the English Wikipedia, with the same filenames so I don't have to edit a whole bunch of articles just to move an image over here. If you'd like to improve the cropped versions, feel free - the originals are there in the history. If you'd like to rename the images, do that too - there is a bot to replace them in their various usages. But I don't feel like manually doing that tedious work. Kelly (talk) 01:05, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, i understand, im sorry. If possible you can avoid such improper filenames using the flickr bot because it is not necessary to keep the bad filenames from en.wp. Thank you and sorry for my narrow-minded instructions. --Martin H. (talk) 22:46, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, I shouldn't have been so snippy. I'm just trying to get the Flickr-sourced images from en Wikipedia to here - we can sort the filenames later. Kelly (talk) 01:31, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

Kelly, you tagged this image as having been reviewed, stating that you found it to be under the same license on Flickr. Right now, the image appears to be on Flickr under "All rights reserved", as are all other images uploaded by the same Flickr user. Are you sure about this one? - auburnpilot talk 21:23, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, AuburnPilot - it's copyleft, see the Flickr uploader's profile. He uses a blanket permission on his profile page instead of individual licenses on the image pages. Also, the uploader at en Wikipedia is the copyright holder - see their userpage there. Kelly (talk) 01:29, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Great, thanks. I came across it when you tagged it on en.wiki to be deleted, and wanted to double check. - auburnpilot talk 21:39, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Permission is being sought for this image. Please do not tag it for speedy, assume good faith here. If you really feel you must nom it, use the regular deletion process, please. As long as we are good faith seeking permission, we do not have to delete immediately. Thanks. (Don't make me protect the page... - Hey, Giggy! Wow, thanks for the compliment - I don't think I have the necessary time to devote to something like that, though. Plus, I've managed to anger a whole bunch of people at en Wikipedia at one time or another, including the ID Cabal, a certain admin into animal liberation theology, another one heavily into Power Rangers, and recently, an admin who apparently is the webmaster for a cult. So any RfA for me would likely be a heavily-canvassed dramafest, like another RfA that I could name. :) But I really appreciate the other, thanks! Kelly (talk) 21:19, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Chuck Norris
I believe I set this category up including all subcategories & a wikicommons link in Wikipedia before I realized there was one already there for Chuck Norris. Normally, I use the full first name & middle initial for a person when setting up a category in Wikicommons. In this case, I’d be happy to change it back to Chuck Norris as the primary if you like since it was already there.
IMHO, I don’t think starting a conversation thread with “Seriously?” is a good way to start off a productive dialogue within the spirit of collaboration in Wikicommons. Thanks! FieldMarine (talk) 15:11, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
- Kelly, I'll change it back as I believe it to be the better title for the cat as you suggested. I may not get to it today though, but consider it done soon. Yes, I'm in the Marines & have lots of life long friends in the Air Force who I served with through the years. Happy Holidays to you. I'll see you around the Commons! File tagging File:AogaeView.jpg
This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:AogaeView.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:AogaeView.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
- image is licensed as 'All Rights reserved.' No evidence it was once licensed freely. Image is also not used on wikipedia.

Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:59, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

File:Jumeirah_mosque_cc.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. Hi Kelly/Archive 1, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:
- Use the CommonsDelinker link in the Rename template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one.
- Please do not tag redirects as Speedy. Other projects, like InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
- For guideline when to rename a file, please see Commons:File renaming and Commons:File naming.

Thanks for uploading Image:Military dog and handler.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Notices regarding OTRS
Hi
I received three notices on my talk page regarding images not registered on OTRS. I was in a remote location for a week and did not check my email, so I apologize for the delay. I had previously sent emails to OTRS for all three images. I have since resent them. Was there an issue that caused prevented their registration? Samuell (talk) 01:36, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Proof of licensing has already been given by RTAmerica in two places: on their official YouTube account[3] and on their official Internet Archive site.[4] To clarify, you will need to visit the YouTube site, click "show more" under the upload info, and the license will appear. To double check that this is correct, you can visit their official Internet Archive account where the same license appears. That is the only proof we need. In other words, the official owner of the RTAmerica account originally uploaded the video under cc-by-3.0. This account is owned and run by RTAmerica. To conclude, your claim that the image is "missing permission" is erroneous. Viriditas (talk) 00:44, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

File tagging File:Martakis Anatropi Special Edition.jpg
This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Martakis Anatropi Special Edition.jpg.
Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Martakis Anatropi Special Edition.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

I'm not sure how to properly send you a message, and I'm not even sure if you'll get notified of this. If you do get this message: I noticed you've tagged some of my images as "no permission". I'm a bit confused as to why - I took them all, I uploaded them all, and they're all attributed to a site I built on which I licensed everything as Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 (an notice of which and link is at the bottom of every page). Can I somehow fix this all in one fell swoop? Everything I've uploaded is mine and has permission to be used on wikipedia/wikimedia/wikiwhatever. Thanks!

File:Miners' strike picket.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation.
If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Hi there
I can't really respond to you at w:Talk:Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters but are you blind? I listed three different reliable sources that show that "BUDDYLOID" is the preferred form within Japan.[5] [6] [7] All of those are officially licensed goods. Meanwhile you're just blindly agreeing with people who came forward to edit the page out of spite? Which is frankly the only explanation I can think of when you never edited any Japanese pop culture pages until I was banned and you're pulling the exact same shit every single Gamergator and 4channer said they would do the moment my ban was made public. I've got my eye on you.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 05:07, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

OTRS permissions queues
Hello Kelly. You are receiving this message as a license reviewer. As you know, OTRS processes a large amount of tickets relating to image releases (called "permissions"). As a license reviewer, you may have the skills necessary to contribute to this team. If you are interested in learning more about OTRS or to volunteer please visit Meta-Wiki. Tell your friends! Thank you. Rjd0060 18:44, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Kelly. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Kelly~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

Hi Kelly, I created the jim jones 1977 file. Here is a previous answer to people who wanted to delete my files.
Who is "Nancy Wong"?
Hi Edmunddantes! Most all your uploads are configured with "Photo by Nancy Wong" (or similar, see also file title). Who is Nancy Wong? Do you, Edmunddantes, have permission to publish works from Nancy Wong here at Commons under a free license? For this, we need a written statement from Nancy Wong which will be processed via COM:OTRS. Gunnex (talk) 19:20, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
I am Nancy Wong aka Edmunddantes. I give myself, Nancy Wong aka Edmunddantes permission to publish my own works here at Commons under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license This is my one and only written statement which will be processed via COM:OTRS. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.92.245.169 (talk • contribs)
Pictogram voting info.svg Info Ticket:2014022210011738 is a record of verification for the above statement. Should anyone have a reason to question this, I suggest writing in to permissions@commons.org quoting the ticket number. This will help us handle discussion in a mellow fashion, and maintain suitable respect for legal identities. Thank you. --Fæ (talk) 19:51, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

When you moved this to Commons, did you notice that the uploader originally specified a GFDL licence but that the uploader changed GFDL into a different licence about 35 hours later? Should we mention the GFDL licence too, in one way or another? --Stefan2 (int:Talkpagelinktext) 16:31, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
- Template:U - I was wondering about that, but as Template:Tl would probably be "more free" than GFDL, I think it's OK. If anyone re-used under GFDL it wouldn't conflict with Attribution, not so the other way around. Of course I am no expert! - Going great so far. I was happy to see you mention RFA at Magog's; your name has been on my mental list of perspective admins for a while. The other people on that list are a little less willing (to put it mildly), which is weird, because being an admin is a huge improvement over not having the tools. The same thing is true of being an admin at Wikipedia, which I was in 2013. It's nice to be the one who can help people directly and take care of problems without reporting it and waiting. Nothing feels better on here than someone reporting a vandal or sockmaster who's causing them serious problems, and, within half an hour, you have the problem cleaned up and the person who needed help back to editing, relieved and happy.
