Pending permission for Image:Efraim Meir.jpg
[edit]Hello. On the image titled Image:Efraim Meir.jpg, you added the Otrs pending template. Unfortunately, after conducting a search, I could not locate the ticket containing the permission to use the image. Please respond on my talk page if you have the ticket number, or if you would like to send me the permission. Please note that if you do not respond, the image may be deleted. Thanks! Rjd0060 (talk) 22:38, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know about the permissions being sent in. As for helping with permissions, you are welcome to volunteer to join m:OTRS. New people are always welcome, especially for languages other than English, where there are less people to answer the tickets. - Rjd0060 (talk) 14:55, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi Yoni, Israeli municipality emblems fall under "freedom of panorama", because they are always displayed in public places in the cities which they represent. The Israeli law (both the old and the new ones) treats creative works displayed permanently in public places almost as if they were in the public domain (I think the moral rights are still valid, but you can copy them, reproduce them etc. without any limitations). [edit]Hi, Yoni.
In general, if you want, you can send the e-mails to OTRS attention my name ("Avi") and I can usually take care of them.

- Do you have a specific email address? Yonidebest Ω Talk 22:28, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
- It is best if you sent it straight to permissions-commons as you do now, as this way, it is properly logged in the system. As one of the few OTRS volunteers who can read Hebrew, if you say "Attention Avi" or something like that, the volunteer who responds can assign me the ticket. You can always reach me directly through the "E-mail this user" link on User:Avraham. Thanks. -- Avi (talk) 01:01, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:33, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

You: user request
Admin: But why? Image now carries an obviously valid OTRS ticket.[1]
You: because i was lied to and the image is protected. please delete this damn it. why do i have to ask twice? i uploaded it for god's sake.
- Very simple answer to your question: 1) user request[2] is not a sufficient reason for speedy-deletion. 2) If you don't need to answer to a clear question within more than 6 weeks[3], then you shouldn't wonder why this request wasn't performed. Admins aren't like dogs or whatever who take every bone that is thrown before them. Anyway, it's gone now. --Túrelio (talk) 12:18, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
- 1) i have never had a problem with "user request" before. I uploaded the image and i can request to delete it. 2) i did not receive notification of your question and no one let me know that i have a question pending. i am an active user, and a simple "well?" before removing my request (and therefore approving a vio, btw) could have helped. i am an admin myslef in he.wiki and i do not remove deletion requests before pointing out my pending question to my colleague. if you were offended, i apologize. yoni, 212.199.200.76 16:14, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
- You can request deletion, of course, but not speedy deletion with the only rationale "user request". I do sometimes convert such requests into a RFD, which takes far more work for the admin and may take weeks until the deletion is performed or rejected. In your case I had hoped for a fast feedback and therefore commented directly to the speedy. No need to apologize, may be I was a bit too much angered by myself. --Túrelio (talk) 18:09, 28 March 2010 (UTC)

A script in your user namespace may stop working in February 2012
[edit]Hi Yonidebest,
I found the deprecated function akeytt
somewhere in your user-namespace, e.g. Special:MyPage/monobook.js, Special:MyPage/vector.js, , User:Yonidebest/monobook.js/addlink.js. It is likely that this will cause JavaScript errors after Commons is updated to MediaWiki 1.19 in February. You can simply remove this function-call as it currently does nothing. If you have a copy of user-messages in your script, you may remove it and instead activate User Messages in your preferences. Please also note that addLink is now natively supported by mw.util.addPortletLink. Thank you.

File:Balut.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

[edit]Hello.
Can you update File:Ilrail1.jpg which you uploaded and File:Ilrail1-HE.jpg like the updated File:Israeli-Palestinian Railways.svg?

File:Mazalogo.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
