Commons
[edit]Hi. just need a bit of help with Commons. I looked at the page on buidings in Sydney and went to the edit page, but can't see how the editing is done. All I see is four headings in square brackets, but no links or headings etc to the actual shots. How is it done?

Ermington Picture
[edit]It's a nice picture of the "Ermo shops". It really catches the local shopping centre feel to them. 220.233.191.2 01:13, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you. Siebrand 01:42, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Ascham school
[edit]Hi. just saw your new shots of Ascham school. Did you have any trouble getting access? I just sort of ducked in, took a quick shot with a wide-angle lens and ducked out again. I'm not very brave with things like that. What did you do?

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT (talk) 05:54, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Geocoding
[edit]Hi Jim, You've provided an impressive array of Sydney images! I run into them on nearly every Sydney article I look at. And what's even better is that they're generally good quality images. However, I notice that they are often missing geocodes, which are often helpful for such architectural images. I was wondering whether you'd considered adding them? 99of9 (talk) 06:04, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
reverted File:Botanybaybicentennialmonument.JPG
[edit]I reverted one of you uploads due to the fact that you uploaded over somebody else's photo. You should know better than to do this as you have pointed this out to me in the past. Also I drive past this location nearly every day and I plan on taking some better photos of this and a few others. Would you prefer a picture of the monument (cannons included) with the subject in focus and a blurred background or everything in focus. I would also like to try my hand at photographing the greek monument. If you have any objections please let me know Adam.J.W.C. (talk) 22:20, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- Okay then. If we are going to have mediation when my block is lifted then perhaps you could bring this up. I will propose that I do not delete photos but replace them with better ones. I plan on working my way across the entire Sydney suburban area. Adam.J.W.C. (talk) 07:37, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- I can see what you mean. Also I can guarantee that this was my only SP or at least the only one that had given you and the other party any grief. You requested a checkuser once before when you thought that Poor article removalist was connected to poorphotoremovalist. The check user revealed that Poor article was connected to some other bloke but also said that Poor Photo was an SP but would not reveal who it was due to the fact that the account had not been used abusively. When I read this I thought that it was fine to continue. My block expires tomorrow it was reduced to 7 days with parole conditions. I may start again on Wednesday. I have a new photo of ANZ Stadium that I wish to upload and I think its the best one that I have taken so far. Adam.J.W.C. (talk) 05:23, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Join forces to take photos?
[edit]Hey, I can see you have been taking an impressive number of photos of the suburbs of Sydney. I’m trying to do the same thing via wikishootme and I think I’ve covered about half of the City of Liverpool. Interested in catching up some time to go over strategies for getting all of Sydney photographed? - Chris.sherlock2 (talk) 15:38, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
