Thanks for uploading File:Bulgaria Gabrovo Province relief location map.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

British Isles 10th century

[edit]

Many thanks for all your work on this. I seem to remember that with your original map clicking on 2000px blew it up so as to make the names more legible. Am I correct on this and would it be possible to provide a facility to blow the map up and put instructions how to do this in the 'description'? Thanks again. Dudley Miles (talk) 11:55, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea how to do this. There are two rectangles in the right bottom of the picture in the article that are supposed to enlarge it. It links to the Commons' page of the picture and than you have to click once again on the 2000px link. You may ask on the discussion page of the en:Graphics_Lab/Map_workshop --Ikonact (talk) 19:46, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks once again. I find now that clicking on the map blows it up, so maybe it was a problem with my computer that it did not work before.
One other point. I am slightly colour blind so I may misunderstand, but should 'See' below the description be 'Sea'? Dudley Miles (talk) 22:21, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, sorry, See should be Sea. Corrected. Please let me know if you want me to changes the colours. I have chosen the swamp/alluvium colour without any relation to the adopted colour conventions in Wikipedia. One other point is that I have used another map to present the coastline as it was in the 10th century but I have to consult some experts on this point. Finally, if you need other maps, please let me know. I will be happy to help and I will learn more about the British history :) --Ikonact (talk) 13:58, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the offer. It will be some time before I get to that stage with another article, but I will come back to you then. Dudley Miles (talk) 11:07, 15 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New map

[edit]

Hi Ikonact. You very kindly said that you could help with a new map. If this is convenient, I have a further request. I have been working on w:Æthelred, Lord of the Mercians, and I have amended the map which is currently on the article and created a new one at [1]. I am not sure how legible my writing is, but places I have added are Conwy, Much Wenlock, Buttington, Tettenhall, Gloucester, Berkeley, Risborough, Pyrton, Thorney. Welsh kingdoms: DYFED, GWENT, GLYWYSING. Many thanks if you can help. Dudley Miles (talk) 23:51, 27 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dudley Miles, I will check what I can do. I think the best will be to recreate the map in the article and make it in vector format. Then I will add your modifications. I will keep you informed. It may take a week or two as I am quite busy at the moment. Regards. --Ikonact (talk) 09:17, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, you can ask for a correction on the Map workshop. --Ikonact (talk) 09:20, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much. Please advise if you would prefer I went to the map workshop. Dudley Miles (talk) 09:48, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is always better to go to the map workshop :) It is seen by more map makers. I will be happy to do it but I will need a bit of time. On the map workshop it can be done quicker by someone else. As you wish. --Ikonact (talk) 10:02, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I will go to the map workshop so that an editor who has time can work on it. Thanks. Dudley Miles (talk) 18:51, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Topographic map of Austria available?

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you created some nice topographical SVG maps such as this. I am looking for a pure SVG topographical map of Austria (actually interwar Austria but I do not think there have been any border changes since the 1920's) but I did not find any yet. I wondered if you would know of such a map or if you could point me to a good tutorial that would let me create something like the Guatemalan map you drew but for Austria (I am afraid I do not know how those maps are drawn). Thank you in advance and sorry to bother.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 10:37, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you do not bother me :) Your message reminds me that I have not finished the Guatemala map yet :) Regarding the requested map - have you checked the maps in Commons? There should be a map that you can use. If not, there are tutorials how to create maps. You can check here but it will take you a little bit of time. If you want to make it yourself read this page. If you wish I can try to make a map of Austria or make a request on the Map Workshop page. --Ikonact (talk) 19:08, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I tried looking for it in Commons but all I got so far is a bitmap map (this one though there are other similar ones, all non-vector). And when it comes to maps, I would rather use vector ones. I will check the link and see if I can try to create it myself (it would be interesting learning). If I see it is too complex for me I will try your suggestion and ask for it in the workshop. There is no real hurry yet. Thanks a lot for the advice.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 19:53, 18 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Rowanwindwhistler: , I made a first try of a map here. Please tell me if this is what you are looking for. I can add more elements if you n

eed. Just let me know. --Ikonact (talk) 22:39, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It looks fantastic. If possible, it would be nice to have the provincial boundaries and the provincial capitals added as well (if feasible and easy, if not this version is more than enough for what I want). My goal is to have a map that shows the geography of the new country (new in 1918) and, if possible, the basic administrative boundaries (the provincial borders) and main cities (the provincial capital cities and towns). If the interwar borders of the neighbouring countries were available (they are different from the current ones), that would be nice to have too, but I doubt that can be readily extracted from any source.
On the other hand if you do not mind my asking, I started reading this tutorial but it seems it is written for Windows users and I use linux. It seems some applications (3dem at least) are not available for linux. Do you know if there exists an alternative tutorial for linux or if the same procedure can be performed under linux too? I saw Grass GIS is available under linux (my version's interface is different from the one in the document though) but I am not sure if the 3dem steps can be skipped or carried out under Grass GIS...--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 06:07, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Rowanwindwhistler: I have no problem to add any kind of modern boundaries and cities. I will do it later today or tomorrow and let you know. For the interwar borders I do not know if there is digital geographical data. I may try to find some data or try by hand but I never did it and do not guarantee anything. Regarding the tutorial, you have to ask some experienced users. I have never used it. I found the process so complex that I did my own tool for map generation :-) --Ikonact (talk) 08:36, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I am not sure about the interwar borders either, I would say they will not be available with any digital source but internet may surprise me... Anyhow, if the provincial boundaries and capital cities can be added, that should be ok. I can always add the neighbouring countries' names later to mark roughly where they were at the time.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 12:56, 28 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Rowanwindwhistler: I have updated the map. I have added provincial boundaries, capital cities and modern borders of neighbouring countries. I have not put the names of the cities but this should not be difficult to be done. --Ikonact (talk) 23:50, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

No, that should be easy enough. I will create the Spanish version for the Spanish Wikipedia once the map is available in Commons and I will create an additional version with no borders for the neighbouring countries for the interwar period (as borders then were different, mainly the Italian-Yugoslavian one) but that should be easy too if the map has layers. Once again, thank you for all the effort!--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 05:51, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Rowanwindwhistler: I have uploaded it here. I have added some more information. If you do not want to use it you can delete it. I had to reduce the relief resolution because the file was too big and not supported. Hope this helps. --Ikonact (talk) 21:35, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! It looks really nice. I have already created a version in Spanish and I should have another one ready soon. Once again, much obliged for all the hard work creating the map, I think it will be very useful in many articles on Austria. Let us see if I can manage to learn how to create these maps when I have more time to do some reading and testing.--Rowanwindwhistler (talk) 07:36, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

From User Alternative Transport

Hi Ikonact, I would like to say, I am quit impressed by your topographical SVG maps. --Alternative Transport (talk) 22:00, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Alternative Transport: ! Glad to see you like them. I am trying to do my best :-) There are a lot of maps I would like to make but it is a lot of work. If you need a map I can try to help. Cheers --Ikonact (talk) 09:24, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for the offer, I am currently working to update and combine language and dialect maps, for example Alemanic Languages update versus current version. The aim would be to identify areas with a population of less than 1 person per km² or 3 persons per sqmi, and topographical maps are one way to do so. I have Austria, Switzerland and Russia mostly finished but I would appreciate svgs with obviously inhospitable areas of Bulgaria, British Isles and Cyprus of your maps, if you have time and willing to isolate those.--Alternative Transport (talk) 13:43, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Alternative Transport: Can you tell me how do you isolate these areas? Do you use any methodology (e.g. areas higher than something) or do you use data? --Ikonact (talk) 14:22, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
High elevations, and steep elevation increases, as paths in a svg. Also Rivers and lakes, coastlines and borders would be great. By the Swiss and Austrian maps I had a populated areas map, which I then drew into a svg and split into languages and dialects. By other similar countries, I start with a full map and then subtract obviously inhospitable areas, national parks, mountains, swamps, if I cannot find a good population density map.
@Alternative Transport: I can make a try with high elevation for the map of Bulgaria. I do not have the steep elevation increase because this requires to work out a little bit my algorithms. I can put rivers and lakes, coastlines and borders. If this is OK for you I will make a try map but generally you have all this already on the existing maps. Let me know --Ikonact (talk) 11:14, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, it's alright, your maps are already great and I will work off them. If I get it wrong someone else can correct it later.--Alternative Transport (talk) 16:20, 13 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

SVG shades

[edit]

Hello Ikonact, I am impressed by your maps and now I try to create all svg reliefs like you. Could you tell me what programs do you use to create that vector shades from a raster? --g. balaxaZe 22:48, 3 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Giorgi Balakhadze: , happy to see that you like what I do :). I do not use any graphic tool to create my maps. I use a script of mine that I have developed to generate the maps from raw data. It works with Octave. I use Inkscape to finalise them. If you need some specific maps I can create them for you. I know that there is also a way to create svg shadows in Inkscape but I've never tried. If you have raster shadows you can vectorise them in Inkscape in the menu Path > Trace Bitmap in the section Multiple scans: Creates a group of paths select Scans: 8, check the option Greys and check the option Remove backgrounds. Let me know. Cheers --Ikonact (talk) 21:15, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Original Barnstar
Hi Ikonact, Very impressed by your SVG maps. If you've written in the past about Octave's involvement in the process then I'd be interested to read it. Cheers, Ralph. Ralph Corderoy (talk) 09:47, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Ralph Corderoy: I made a small script on Matlab/Octave to generate the maps. Unfortunately, I have some issues with Octave, in particular with the limitations of the size of the matrix for the DEM data. So I can use Octave for small maps and than combine them into bigger.--Ikonact (talk) 10:09, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2017 is open!

[edit]

You are receiving this message because you voted in R1 of the 2017 Picture of the Year contest, but not yet in R2.

Dear Ikonact,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

Maps

[edit]

Hi. We are doing great job :D Of course I want to translate them. Can you list all of them at my talk page? Or give me the category where all your maps are located. Kind regards... --Никола Стоіаноски 12:37, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@MacedonianBoy: They are in Category:SVG topographic maps of Bulgaria Most of them are about Bulgaria, but those I mentioned are on the border with Macedonia. I thought that these 3 may be interesting for you. I can create similar maps for Macedonia if you are interested. --Ikonact (talk) 12:42, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I just translated and uploaded Belasica and Ogražden map. Thanks for the category. I translated not just Macedonia-related maps :) I can, and I have, translated Bulgaria-related maps. Cheers.--Никола Стоіаноски 15:22, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@MacedonianBoy: Thanks. it will be perfect if you translate all Bulgaria-related maps. I thought that for mk Wikipedia those on the border are most interesting. Let me know if you would like to have some specific maps for Macedonia. regards--Ikonact (talk) 20:57, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ikonact, your file looks very nice but I got the impression that it has an SVG error. I see it in preview mode but I cannot open it with any browser. Also a download was not possible. Could you please have a look at it again? Thanks --Furfur Diskussion 12:23, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Furfur: Hi Furfur. There is a problem when downloading the file. It stops in the middle. Than the browser displays an error because the svg is incomplete. When I try to display it in a browser there is an error, but every time the error is on different line... may be you can try to download it later. If not I can send it to you --Ikonact (talk) 19:24, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Ikonact, the preview of the file looks perfectly fine, but when I click on it, it displays an error (translated to English):
XML error: Unclosed Token
Adress: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1e/Hungary-geographic_map-en.svg
Line Nr 34337, Column 5: <path
----^

I was unable to download anything. I thought that you might have the original file locally on your computer and might be able to fix the error. I assume that some kind of expresion, like " or > might be missing. It is a pity because the file looks nice but at the moment it is not usable. --Furfur Diskussion 19:37, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Furfur: I have exactly the same issue. But this comes from the fact that the file is not fully downloaded. Download stops on Line Nr 34337 in your case and that's why the path is not closed. If you try to download it again you will see that the error is not on the same line. I think this is a problem with the download in Commons. The file is quite big for an svg but not exceptional. I will send you the file --Ikonact (talk) 19:49, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Ikonact, I don't think that it is a Commons problem. I have uploaded SVG files that were up to 20 MB in size in the past but experienced never any problems with downloads. I think there must be some kind of syntax error in the file. Did you try to validate the file by uploading it to the validator? --Furfur Diskussion 20:01, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Furfur: I uploaded a validated svg via validator.w3.org --Ikonact (talk) 20:16, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You mean that the Validator said that the SVG syntax is ok? Hmm, ... it still doesn't work. Maybe it is really a problem with the renderer ... I see that the file has been in some way modified in the Atelier graphique? May be you could ask there if they know a solution? --Furfur Diskussion 20:46, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Furfur: I tried today and I was able to download the file. You can try. --Ikonact (talk) 07:35, 4 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Map of Iran

[edit]

Hi Ikonact, I was going to request if you can make a SVG file for map of iran rail transportation. It would be a great assess to it's related articles. Thank You. --Gnosis (talk) 21:31, 19 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Gnosis: I made a first attempt here. Please let me know if this is OK for you. Thanks--Ikonact (talk) 23:32, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ikonact, thank you so much for doing this, as soon as completion, I will nominate this for FP on FaWiki. It looks very good, but I was comparing your version with the map at Iran's railway co. I realized some lines are double-tracked and some are in under construction, do you think we can perhaps display that in your map? I would love to know your input on this. Thanks --Gnosis (talk) 02:34, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnosis: I can do it but I cannot open the site. Do you have another source? Thanks --Ikonact (talk) 11:17, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Please let me know if this link works? Cheers --Gnosis (talk) 18:18, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnosis: I tried to do my best. I managed to open the maps you provided but I was a bit lost in the differences. I combined all in a new version of the map. I left only the existing tracks and did not present the planned. Could you please check and let me know? Could you please provide translation for the legend? Thanks--Ikonact (talk) 20:57, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again Ikonact, I really appreaciate it, it looks great, but just a thought, do you think a geographic map in the background make the map more appealing? is it possible to try? Also the Farsi translation for the info box.
شهر for city
خطوط دو خطه for Double tracks
خطوط یک خطه for signle tracks
Cheers. --Gnosis (talk) 05:01, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnosis: Added topographic background as requested. It looks probably nicer but may less be readable. Let me know. --Ikonact (talk) 21:18, 27 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm actually fan of the topographic background, I think makes it look much more interesting, also the city of پارس آباد which is on the tip of the map (on the tip of North East) is not related to railways map and is not too important city. I also discussed your work in Wikifa's Village pump (here) and asked if anyone has any suggestions or see mistakes, one user was asking if we you could possibly add under construction projects, but we have already discussed it. --Gnosis (talk) 02:55, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnosis: I removed the city. I added a version in English. I will not try to include under construction projects as I do not have reliable geographical data. If you need to do so, you can derive another map from this one, simplify it and add project lines. Hope this is OK. If yes, I consider the map as finished. Cheers --Ikonact (talk) 22:50, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It looks great. Thank you very much for doing this map. --Gnosis (talk) 02:50, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Also one more thing, I was looking at this map and realized in how many different languages used this very low quality topographic map, I think now that you've made this railway map, with some moderate modifications, maybe we could replace. What do you think Ikonact, is it doable? --Gnosis (talk) 02:50, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnosis: This map you mentioned is quite convenient for a quick look of the relief. Of course, I can make another map but it will be more sophisticated not just relief... like the one I did for Corsica or you can see some other examples on my user page. However, this requires a bit more than adapting the previous one and some more time because I draw relief, neighboring countries, hydrology and transport networks. I need also reliable information. I will give a try but it will take time. --Ikonact (talk) 20:30, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for looking into it, I think it would be a great asset to a ton of articles related to Iran. If you need any help with that regard (eg. finding info) I'll be more than happy to help. Just one last thing, in fawiki's village pump (here) someone requested a font change for the infobox, he requested a font like This font for the purpose of readability, I asked the creator of that file and he said he used a font named "Gandom-Font" at https://github.com/rastikerdar/gandom-font and it's a free license. --Gnosis (talk) 21:24, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnosis: I changed the font, but "Gandom" is not among the installed fonts in Wikimedia. I think when I use this font a substitution is applied. Could you check and let me know if this is OK. If not, you can find a convenient one in the list of installed fonts. --Ikonact (talk) 21:52, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
It looks fine to me. Thanks for looking into it. --Gnosis (talk) 01:42, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Corsica map in Farsi

[edit]

Hi Ikonact, hope you're well in this crazy times! Is it possible to have a Farsi version of File:Corsica-geographic map-fr.svg? I can help you with translation for the legend etc.? (I'm trying to get it featured picture in fa wiki but not legend being in Farsi is becoming a problem with some voters.) --Gnosis (talk) 01:08, 8 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Gnosis: I can do this, but it will take time, and may have errors. I do not reed Farsi and I see that in your text Ligurian sea is writyen in two differnt ways. On top of this, there are around 200 towns that need to be transcribed too. I will try to make my map working with the SVG translation tool and you can translate it yourself. Ikonact (talk) 08:27, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sounds great, also about the Ligurian sea it is not written in two different ways, it was my mistake, I corrected it. --Gnosis (talk) 18:28, 9 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Gnosis: I started the translation of the file here. This is a multi language version. You can display the file in Persian by using [[File:Corsica-geographic map.svg|thumb|Corsica-geographic map|lang=fa]]. The translation is partial but you can finish it using the SVG translation tool. Just choose Farsi in the right menu and continue with the translation. Once finished you can download the file and upload it in Commons by replacing the current one. Just know that the tool cannot display the map and a pop up message with an error appears from time to time. Do not pay attention. Just wait that the Download button becomes active after you close the message. Hope this helps.--Ikonact (talk) 20:54, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

unlabelled physical map of SK + HU + HR

[edit]

Hi Iconact,

for showing the distribution of Gothic brick architecture in the countries of the former Hungarian crown, see de:Liste der Backsteinbauwerke der Gotik in Ungarn, der Slowakei und Kroatien, up to now, I use a derivate of the map of Danube basin, which in the present state mostly is my work

(I am not lucky with the resolution of that Danube map taken from the source of my extensive revision. With an 1.5-fold resolution, the bitmap could have much better a graphical quality. But there are more important works than drawing this map once more.)

Different from GeoHack and similar software, in my maps of the distribution of architecture, the names of all architectural sites are visible at the same time.

This quality I consider important for understanting architectural history and perhaps learning the localizations by heart.

I'd prefer to use an unlabelled background map such as in de:Backsteinbauwerke der Gotik/Verteilung in Südostpolen, de:Backsteinbauwerke der Gotik/Verteilung in Italien and the oher maps of de:Atlas der Backsteingotik. I have recoloured the borders from dark grey to (pale) pink or lilac colours and made also rivers a bit pale to keep lables readble if they cross these lines.

Are you able to provide such a map?

Best regards, Ulamm (talk) 16:01, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Ulamm: I can do it but in order to avoid any misunderstanding, could you give me the coordinates of the area you want to present. Thanks --Ikonact (talk) 19:33, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
my provisional map

@Ikonact:

top = 50.1°N
bottom = 44.25°N
left = 13.45°E
right = 24.0°E
I'd like, if the selection of rivers is similar to that of my provisional map.--Ulamm (talk) 20:17, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
my draft map
@Ulamm: Here is a first try, a very draft map. I understand that you need a blank map so I did not put cities and river names. Not sure if you want to have the borders. Please let me know if you see it differently.--Ikonact (talk) 22:33, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ulamm: I made a test to replace your map with this one and I see that mine is shifted to the east. I see that my map is a little bit more extended in the four directions (E/W/N/S), which is strange if your old map have the same coordinates. It seems there is something wrong in my map. I have to check--Ikonact (talk) 12:03, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@ Iconact, Thank you very much!
  • A map whithout cities is what I had imagined. But the borders of the countries should be visible, preferably in a colour similar to that I've used in the provisional map., between lilac and pink and a bit pale so that crossing labels can be read.
  • For more general and different applications, the extend of your map is better than mine, Therefore ist should be kept either in the present state or with borders.
But for my application, the extent I had told is more ueseful.--Ulamm (talk) 14:43, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Ulamm: Here I made a new version. Let me know if this is OK --Ikonact (talk) 21:09, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bathymetry Map of the Mediterranean

[edit]

There is a project I am working on offsite, and it involves hypothesizing what the Mediterranean would be like at different depths, environmental effects and the like. It's heavily influenced by the Atlantropa Project that thankfully never amounted to anything, but we were curious what the follow-on effects would be at varying levels of sea drainage. Unfortunately for me, I have been assigned the task of drawing up the land maps for the various scenarios under consideration. Now I realize that you worked on the Bathymetric Map of the Mediterranean Sea about five and a half years ago at this point, but I haven't had even the remotest success elsewhere, and I'm at a loss as to how you made that map; while I use Inkscape quite a bit I am still not really well versed in its use, and I'm assuming/hoping that you didn't eyeball the contour lines for your map. Could you please tell me how you drew it up, what program(s) I might need to use to trace over the data on ETOPO1? --Ariostos (talk) 00:32, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ariostos: It's a bit difficult to explain how I made my maps. I created some scripts to be used with Octave or Matlab and they are published on my fr.wiki. However, if you wish I can create a map for you that you can parametrize. Just give me the different depths you need and I will do it. Then I will explain you how to change the levels via a text editor. Please, let me know if this works for you --Ikonact (talk) 08:28, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm honestly at a loss for words, that would work perfectly, thank you @Ikonact: ! What I need are depths of 100, 200, and 300 meters. --Ariostos (talk) 09:07, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Manipulated Map of Iran

[edit]

Dear Wikipedia,

Recently, Some groups have been trying to publish the wrong map of Iran (Map without the Persian Gulf, Caspian sea, Oman Sea is not a map of Iran). It is a national concern. I am wondering how Wikipedia can help to return those maps to the original map of Iran. One example is the page below: [2] Example User (talk · contribs · logs · edit filter log · block log) (Ikonact) It seems the map is locked and can not be changed.

How do you make your relief maps?

[edit]

They're quite beautiful and always consistent, I'm interested in how you make them. Is it a script? A GIS program like ArcGIS? Or something else? Just interested. — Berrely • TC 19:34, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Berrely, I made some scripts for Octave and I use mainly SRTM data for the relief and Openstreetmap for the transport and urban areas.--Ikonact (talk) 19:43, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ikonact: , I saw your great work making geographic maps and i would to like request you.
Could please make geographic map for Somailand Like this .
You can use this . Many Thanks --Siirski (talk) 18:22, 26 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Siirski I will check what I can do. I have some other projects at this moment and it will take some time. My main issue with this request is to find reliable open GIS data such as rivers, roads, borders etc. I usually use Openstreetmap. If you know some other sources it may be helpful. @Siirski: I made a first draft here. I have to admit I do not know the geography of the region very well and I miss data so I would ask you to review and et me know your remarks. I will continue working on the map. Cheers--Ikonact (talk) 12:57, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ikonact: , This is a great map, but can you remove the Arabic letters and also can you put information about the capital, the border, the port and the airport.
Many Thanks--Siirski (talk) 13:42, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Siirski: This is the raw map I get out from my tool. The names are as they come from the source. It needs some hand work now to clean up and improve. I will remove the double naming from the cities, put some geographical names, airports and ports and legend. Do you have any particular comments on the map as represented - more cities, roads, any other elements that are missing ? I am affraid that I do not know the geography of the region and there may be something missing or wrong. Thanks --Ikonact (talk) 13:52, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Ikonact: , The map is perfect but, only make Erigavo or Ceerigaabo Road the main road. . many Thanks--Siirski (talk) 15:01, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Siirski: I corrected and added some more details. Could you check? I will add a legend later on. --Ikonact (talk) 20:49, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Ikonact: , It's great but could remove it another Somalia cities and also remove Puntland just write Somalia and remove it sabwanag it's not big city. You wrote cities in Somali, can you write in English? and write the names of other cities in lowercase only the capital of Hargeisa in capital letters also corrected eastern border.

Thanks for your hard work, I really appreciate it. Siirski (talk) 21:25, 25 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Siirski: I added a legend and changed the names of cities in English. I keep the Eastern border different as this is not an internationally recognized border and put the names of the Somalia regions on the East instead of Somalia. I assume the map is finalised. If OK for you I will remove the disclaimer. Cheers --Ikonact (talk) 09:42, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Ikonact: , It's OK and thank you much for the great map Can i or you may create more of this, i mean 2 of this map first one to show eastern border and two not to show eastern border. Is it possible? Thank you.
@Siirski: I finalised the map. Regarding the border I prefer to focus on the geographical aspects and avoid any political claims. From what I understand the border is not internationally recognised and therefore I would keep it as it is. You are free to adapt the map in accordance with the license. Hope this map answers well your request. Cheers--Ikonact (talk) 12:09, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Map of state-mandated "In God we Trust" display

[edit]

Dear Ikonact,

thank you for your effort in making the map of states by their laws of display of "In God we Trust". I would like to note that it's not entirely accurate. 1. UPD: Gov. Abbott of Texas has signed the obligatory display of donated examples of the national motto into law. 2. Correction: Idaho does not mandate any school to display "In God we Trust" - it only concerns the chambers of the Legislature. 3. I believe the map could be better if made with a richer legend:

  • States mandating display in schools;
  • States mandating display in schools if donated (Texas, Ohio);
  • States mandating display in at least some state/local govt agencies (Kentucky, Idaho, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi) - explanation that Fla., Ga. and Miss. do so because the motto is on their official state symbols;
  • States allowing display in schools;
  • States allowing display in state/local govt buildings.

Where the categories overlap, it would be best to have some stripe pattern in it. In any case, thank you very much for the work done and I hope to see a better map :). Szmenderowiecki (talk) 02:54, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Szmenderowiecki I have to admit, I am not knowledgeable on the subject and followed the description in the article to create the map. I have no problem to update it with more categories but I will be grateful if you can indicate the states per category. Once I have this information it will be easy to update the map. Please note that svg stripe pattern does not work in Commons (I made a test here) so I have to use a separate colour for overlapping categories. --Ikonact (talk) 11:26, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
That's a pity, but you'll sure overcome that.:)
The categories are:
Mandating in schools and in at least some government buildings: Arkansas, Florida*, Kentucky, Mississippi* (* - the national motto is used on state symbols, whose display is governed by relevant state laws).
Mandating (unconditionally) in schools: Louisiana, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Utah
Mandating in schools if donated: Texas, Ohio
Mandating in chosen government buildings: Idaho
Allowing in schools, mandating in government buildings: Georgia* (* see above)
Allowing in schools and govt buildings: Alabama, Michigan, South Carolina
Allowing in schools: Arizona, Indiana, North Dakota, Oklahoma

If you believe some categories should be merged, feel free to do it. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 12:05, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Szmenderowiecki I updated the map. Let me know if this is OK. --Ikonact (talk) 13:15, 29 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New map of Stara planina (Balkan Mountains)?

[edit]

Hi Ikonact, I am preparing better article about Stara planina in Czech cs:Stara planina. Could you prepare better map of Stara planina (Balkan Mountains)? In English, I will easy translate to Czech. It is funny, that you are bulgarian, so in could be map "from your home". This map File:MontesBalcanes_(en).svg is, I think, not so good. The best is e.g. File:Map_of_Rila_Pirin_Rhodopes_en.svg. Thanks. Petr. --Pavouk (talk) 13:46, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Pavouk: . I can do such a map but I wll need some time. I remember that I have planned to make a map of Stara planina, but its shape is not very convenient. By the way, I have some other maps in Bulgarian, much more detailed that may help. File:Bulgaria geographic map Eastern Stara Planina bg.svg Ikonact (talk) 20:19, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Pavouk: here are the other two : Central Stara planina, Western Stara planina--Ikonact (talk) 15:38, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Pavouk: , I have not forgotten your request but it takes me some time to imagine this map. I do not know how to frame such a map. If I try to fit the mountain in a rectangular frame then it looks very small compared to surroundings and lies at the bottom of the map. If I put it in the middle then this is practically a map of Bulgaria. I do not know what is the best. Any idea? --Ikonact (talk) 21:21, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

May be like File:MontesBalcanes_(en).svg, but only narrower frame. It may differ from the map of most of Bulgaria in that there will be more detailed data only on the mountains and the rest will be more schematic. What do you think? Pavouk (talk) 09:55, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Pavouk: after long time I made a first draft of the map here It is in Bulgarian but once finalised I will translate. Let me know if OK --Ikonact (talk) 21:08, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it looks goods. several types of improvement:
  • add country names: Serbia, Bulgaria, (Romania)
  • add the names of the highest mountains (Botev, Midzor - the highest mountain in Serbia; maybe other mountains)
  • the map is "glued" down a lot; add a bottom edge
  • add the names of the three main parts of the mountains: Западна Стара планина, Средна Стара планина, Източна Стара планина
  • add the name of the river Danube.
Pavouk (talk) 23:14, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pavouk: I will make the changes. I am not sure to understand the map is "glued" down a lot; add a bottom edge. Thanks--Ikonact (talk) 08:00, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The mountain range on the map has visually less space on the lower side (south) than on the upper side (north). Pavouk (talk) 12:32, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pavouk: I agree that there is visually less space on the lower part but I tried to leave similar space at the bottom from the most southern point as at the top from the most northern point. Unfortunately the shape of the mountain is such that it is difficult to leave the same visual space and keep the mountain as the main object on the map. If I leave more space in the south then the mountain will take only 1/3 of the map. I can give a try. --Ikonact (talk) 21:37, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Pavouk: , I changed the map. Let me know. Sorry for the long waiting. Ikonact (talk) 08:16, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If the new south limit is OK for you, I will add the other elements as requested. --Ikonact (talk) 11:31, 4 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Pavouk: I made the map. Hope that this is OK for you. Sorry for taking so long. --Ikonact (talk) 07:53, 7 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Geographic map of the Czech Republic with the names of historical countries

[edit]

Hello, I used the image you created with the geographical map of the Czech Republic in my profile: CzechRepublic-geographic map-cz.svg. I would therefore like to encourage you to create another version of it - with the names of historical countries - English: Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, Czech: Čechy, Morava, Slezsko, added (aesthetically) roughly in their geographical centres. If another file depicting the course of the historical borders of the Czech Republic could be used, here is this SVG file: Czech kraje and historic regions.svg. Disputed map

[edit]

Hi @Ikonact: , I saw your map of "Geographic map of Somaliland svg". I was wondering if you could make a cropped svg version, highlighting the disputed SSC region i.e. and . The only adjustments I'd make to the map are (A) add the airport at Tifafle, and (B) add the port at Las Qorey. As for correct zoom in/out, I'd say a zoom roughly intermediate between the following and would be perfect. Regards and thanks. Billboardbillal (talk) 04:14, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Talkpagelinktext: I can do, but I will need some geographical data for the border: Or at least some precise description--Ikonact (talk) 22:08, 21 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, this reliefweb map gives a reasonable geographic data for the disputed SSC border. Both the reliefweb and the demarcation by Lasunncty appear analogous with Puntland's definition of the disputed SSC area i.e. [4], [5]. Billboardbillal (talk) 18:30, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Ikonact. Could you let me know if you are working on it? Billboardbillal (talk) 16:43, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Billboardbillal: Sorry for not answering earlier. I had a look at the data you provided but this is very approximative for me. I am not sure that I can do a map with this. May be you can draw a line yourself over the map I created. This should not be very difficult. Or you can ask in the Commons:Graphic Lab/Map workshop someone to draw a line over that map. The names of mountains and towns are useful! They are good reference points for ancient sites. 24.190.17.106 20:57, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Here it is --Ikonact (talk) 21:18, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is really great, thank you so much. Obviously will credit you in the publication and send you a link! 24.190.17.106 21:21, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I am happy that my maps are useful --Ikonact (talk) 21:22, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you need other maps, let me know :-) --Ikonact (talk) 21:20, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You Make Awesome Maps!

[edit]

I just wanted to compliment your amazing maps. They remind me of the atlases I stared at for hours as a kid. I see in the notes that you are combining a bunch of public domain maps and data using Octave scripts. I am an engineer and longtime MATLAB guy. Are any of your scripts open source or available to look at? I would really like to learn some of your techniques. Thank you! Newman039 (talk) 14:25, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Newman039 Nice that you like my maps! I would like to have a bit more time to work more on them but I try to do my best. Regarding my scripts they are such a mess that it is better not to present :-) But the principle is simple: read the data, find the countours, print in svg file. I struggle the most with the optimisation as sometimes these are big chunks of data and it takes time and memory to process. Cheers -- Ikonact (talk) 12:22, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request for a map by user Extratall

[edit]

Hi Ikonact, I love your maps as well! Do you do requests? I'm looking for a map of a small rural area is northern Greece in the same style as your "Map of Pernik Province in Bulgaria". Extratall (talk) 20:30, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Extratall! I can do such a map. The only issue is that it may take a bit of time as I am a bit busy at the moment but let me know what you need. Thanks -- Ikonact (talk) 21:41, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Благодаря! I appreciate it :) Can you send me an email? Extratall (talk) 22:36, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Extratall, we can discuss here. I am not sure that I manage efficently my mails :-) Ikonact (talk) 14:14, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, looking for a large map of this regional unit [7] with all the settlements captured (със старите български имена на селата, с латинска азбука). If you can produce such a map, let me know. Thanks Extratall (talk) 14:57, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No Problem. I will do it. I made something similar in the past here. Few points:
  • It will be nice if you give me an approximative idea for the frame in geographical coordinates. If not I will make a draft based on your request. I can use this or this as frame. If you wish I can extend a bit north/south/east/west. Let me know!
  • I may struggle a little bit with the old settlements names. I will let you know once I have a map. I will probably first put the actual names and then change.
  • If you wish to include settlements that are not existing anymore you shoudl tell me. I did some maps (like this one) with historical settlements but this requires some knowledge that I do not have.
Thanks Ikonact (talk) 07:53, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much Ikonact! You can use something like this for the frame, but showing the administrative borders like in this. Can you make the fonts, border styles, and roads in a similar style like this map. I can certainly help you with the settlement names. If you like you can produce the map with modern names and then either change the names yourself with my assistance, or send me an editable version where I can edit the names myself. Whatever you prefer. Settlements that are not existing is not necessary. The higher resolution the better (I'm planning to print it and hang it on my wall perhaps 18 inches by 24 inches :) ). Extratall (talk) 16:31, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. I will be back in about a week with a proposal and we can see if this is what you want and what can be improved. Cheers Ikonact (talk) 08:29, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds great :) Extratall (talk) 20:56, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall I made a first try. This is a very initial test without any manual editing and will require to be improved but let me know if this looks like what you want and what would you like to have different and more. Ikonact (talk) 20:01, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much @Ikonact, for a first try this is amazing! You are very talented. The things I would want different are: (1) can you change the colors of the elevations so we can use more green for the valleys, instead of the whole map being different shades of brown, like in this map. (2) Can you make the borders a thicker transparent line and can you add the municipal borders like here also with a thick transparent line. When I say thick transparent line I mean like in this map. (3) Also can you place the 2 legends in the bottom left corner. Those are the only changes I would request. (4) Can you add railway line if possible? (5)Edit: I think I can change the settlement names myself (I have PDF editor so I will try with that). The fonts I would want to make larger, and black/white like in this map, maybe this is something I can do myself too, I'm not sure Extratall (talk) 22:55, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall, I have uploaded a new version trying to address your comments. I changed the colours of the roads but if you prefer the old way I can revert. Let me know if this is OK and once we agree on the map I will see how we can translate the names. This should not be difficult as the file is text file and you can open it yourself and modify. You can use also this tool Ikonact (talk) 20:50, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Amazing @Ikonact! (1) Yes please revert colors of the roads (2) I really like how you show the shape of each settlement! Is it possible to add a small black circle on the settlements for the villages? The circle for the city is perfect you don't need to change it. (3) Does the legend colors need to be updated to reflect the new colors you chose for the elevations? Also, is it possible to add a legend for the other symbols (city, village, roads, railways, borders)? (4) can we make all the borders thicker, maybe double the current size? (5) For some reason the railway line is missing from Florina to the border. If its possible to add it that's great if not that's ok too. (6) Is it possible to add black-white line frame around the whole map? Thanks again for everything! Extratall (talk) 02:51, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall: I will ask you to provide few clarificaitons:
  • (3) Does the legend colors need to be updated to reflect the new colors you chose for the elevations? - In fact it takes already into account the elevation. If you see all between 0 and 400 is green. Then the other colours are correct in the legend. I think it can stay like this, do you agree?
  • (5) For some reason the railway line is missing from Florina to the border - My understanding is that this railway is disused. See OpenStreetmap. Could you clarify?
I will do the other requried changes later today. Ikonact (talk) 14:41, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One more question. Would you like me to change some of the limits of the map? I see that I can put for example a little bit more on the south to inlcude Kastoria in the map. The name of teh city now appears on the edge but the city is not visible. I can also remove the name and keep the curretn limit. Any other limit? Ikonact (talk) 15:23, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(3) I agree no change needed. If you can make it larger that would be great. (5) Yes it is currently disused due to politics, however it was completely reconstructed about 15 years ago so it's only a matter of time before they decide to use it again. It shows up on Google Maps. If you cannot add it to the map that's ok. Also good idea, you can extend the map south just enough to show the name Kastoria and extend the map north just enough to show the name Bitola. Thanks @Ikonact!! Extratall (talk) 16:11, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall: I made the changes except the black-white line frame. This may be a bit difficult. Let me know if the other things are OK. If yes, Lets fix this as basis for further improvements. Ikonact (talk) 21:01, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Everything looks good @Ikonact, the only thing is half of the minor roads seemed to have disappeared from the previous versions (the ones around the villages), and for some reason the main road that goes west from Florina is cut and missing a section. Can you put these roads back? Also a large part of the railway line is hidden under the roads, if you can make it the top layer that would be great. Extratall (talk) 21:48, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also the rivers seem excessive, if you can get rid of them and leave only the main river (like in Google maps) that would be better. That's the last of the changes. It all looks amazing I can't wait to start on the settlement names. Extratall (talk) 03:55, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall I updated the map as requested. I hope I did not miss anything. I have extended a little bit on the west as the border was touching the edge of the map. I added also settlements and roads in Albania. Could you please let me now if this is OK in terms of elements. If all fine we can move to the settlements now but I want to be sure that once we start with this we do not come back to the basic map. If OK, I will arrange the names of the villages and we will start translating. Let me know! Take your time to look at all details :) Ikonact (talk) 07:54, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ikonact It's perfect! You did a really good job! :) Extratall (talk) 14:36, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ Sorry one more edit (I promise last one), I noticed that the municipal border south (Kastoria and Kozani) and municipal border east (Pella) is missing. If you can add those that would be great, but not urgent. Extratall (talk) 14:51, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall I uploaded a new version. Please check and let me know. No worries to ask. I prefer to have a lot of requests now while I am generating the base than later when started manual edits. Ikonact (talk) 08:48, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's complete now thanks :) I will soon try out that tool you linked above the names Extratall (talk)
@Extratall I uploaded the final version now. Before starting translating the names would you like me to add other elements like peaks, airports etc.? I can add also the name of the lakes and the mountains. Ikonact (talk) 21:22, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not necessary, only if you want to. Extratall (talk) 21:50, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I will leave the map as it is. You can translate the names using the tool. Please note that this creates a multi-language file that you need to upload in Wikipedia and choose the language. Once you create a multi-language file let me know and I can turn it in normal if you prefer. Check if this will work...if not we will find another way to translate! Thanks Ikonact (talk) 07:40, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sur ethe tool is working for me. I tried to enter a translation for the first village it didn't change it and it automatically uploaded a new file. It also takes a long time to load but the names don't update. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong? Extratall (talk) 18:12, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall I see it working. I see Νίκη is Нèгочани. But I guess this may be a bit difficult to work with the tool. I can make a page here and put all names so you can translate or I can send you a text file to work on. What do you prefer? Ikonact (talk) 20:31, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall I made this page. It looks horrible but when you open for edit you will see it is well arranged and easy to find the names. You can edit the names directly. Please edit only the names and keep the code so that I can re-integrate esealy in the map. If this is not convinient let me know, I will find a better way. Thanks Ikonact (talk) 21:11, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok if it's working I will continue to use the tool. I'll let you know when it's done. Thanks Extratall (talk) 05:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall choose what is easiest for you. May be the page will be easier. I will integrate after that, no problem. Ikonact (talk) 07:52, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Extratall I added the Bulgarian names. Go to the file, select Bulgarian from the box "Render this image in" and click Go. You will see the image in Bulgarian. You can click on the biggest size of the PNG preview and check the names. Please let me know if they are correct. Ikonact (talk) 20:37, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It looks excellent! The names are accurate! Thanks so much! Sorry I didn't finish the list myself, but you also included the names in the neighboring regions that's amazing the map is now complete! Extratall (talk) 22:41, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man i absolutely love your maps and i found it really cool that you’re from bulgaria because coincidentally im learning it lmao, anyways id like to know if youve got some time to help me figure out how to make them because i love the geographical balkans one because its perfect i just wish there was one in that quality of all of europe, thanks man!! Sarge.jar (talk) 03:40, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Sarge.jar, do you I understand that you want me to do a map of Europe similar to the one I made of the Balkans? Ikonact (talk) 21:06, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you have any time to do it i would absolutely love it, and if possible id love to know how to make them because these are the best maps ive seen! I think the geographical map of the balkans map is great because of the high resolution and detail, but theres just nothing available with that quality and that much detail like cities, populated areas, mountains and everything like that. Please take your time if you decide to do it because ive seen you say how long it takes to make them and i completely understand, thanks man! 195.252.198.188 03:33, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just realized i wasnt logged in oops Sarge.jar (talk) 03:35, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarge.jar I had a plan in the past to make a map of Europe but this is a huge map and I am not sure to find the right balance between details and area. I will give a second thought :) Ikonact (talk) 07:58, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hey man thanks for considering i'll be checking in on your content, also by coincidence i've been learing bulgarian да живее българия мой приятел! Sarge.jar (talk) 03:21, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sarge.jar. I will see what I can do. И успех с българския. Малко чужденци учат български. Поздрави Ikonact (talk) 07:43, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for a map by user Dannyphx

[edit]

Hey man I love your state maps, geographic maps, country maps, and transit maps. Can you please make a new transit map for Valley Metro Rail? Valley Metro opened a new streetcar and a new light rail extension recently.

Thanks – Dannyphx (talk) 00:26, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dannyphx I do not remember if I did this in the past. Could you please give me a link and I will check. Thanks Ikonact (talk) 09:20, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dannyphx, I think I found it and updated the map. Ikonact (talk) 21:08, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
