Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hallo Woelle, das habe nicht vergessen; meine Fotos davon sind wegen des Sonnenstandes an dem Tage nur leider nichts geworden, so dass ich sie nicht hochgeladen habe. Dankeschön für den Tip mit den Öffnungszeiten der Kirche; das wusste ich noch nicht – das werde ich bald nachholen. Übrigens: Ich fotografiere sehr gerne für die Wikipedia und bin in der wärmeren Jahreszeit deswegen oft mit der Kamera in Frankfurt unterwegs. Wenn Du einen Foto-Wunsch für Wikipedia-Themen rund um Frankfurt hast, teile ihn mir bitte an dieser Stelle mit; ich werde versuchen, ihn zu erfüllen. Hallo Woelle ffm, dass ich auf weitere Anmerkungen auf der Karte verzichtet habe, liegt hauptsächlich am Platzmangel; ich wollte vermeiden, dass die Vorschau zu sehr mit Notizen „zugekleistert“ wirkt. Auch war ich mir bei einigen Straßen – so zum Beispiel bei der Praunheimer Landstraße – beim Abgleich der historischen Karte mit aktuellen Stadtplänen nicht hundertprozentig sicher. — Die Abbildung der Karte in passende Artikel einzufügen halte ich nur dann für sinnvoll, wenn dort genügend Platz vorhanden ist; die Idee mit der Kategorisierung finde ich gut. Ja, Interwiki-Links in Bildnotizen müssten eigentlich funktionieren, da in den Notizen Wikicode erlaubt ist. Sowas habe ich bereits öfter in Bildbeschreibungen auf Commons gemacht; ich werd’s auch mal bei den Bildnotizen versuchen. — frank (talk) 08:40, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Update: Hat leider noch nicht geklappt. Die Form der Standard-Interwiki-Links (aktuelles Beispiel: [[de:Alt-Praunheim]] wird zu de:Alt-Praunheim) funtioniert in den Notizen nicht. Corrupted file information while uploading

Yesterday afternoon my upload of this photo was messed up — for some reason unknown to me. I checked double file description, license information, and categories for possible illegal characters in the code but couldn’t find any. Tonight I received an error message stating technical server problems. For documentation here’s the referring wikicode with all necessary information for the above file:

Hallo Frank, Rohlinks sind erwünscht und ich nutze sie häufig. Dadurch werden viele Bilder wieder gefunden, die vorher nur unzureichend oder in allgemeinen Kategorien kategorisiert waren. Wiki Loves Earth 2017 - Danke, und wie geht es weiter?

Hallo Frank Behnsen,

vielen Dank für Deine Teilnahme am Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth Deutschland. Damit hast Du ein Stück Natur in Deiner Region dokumentiert und Wikipedia geholfen, andere darüber zu informieren.

Dieses Jahr wurden 24.000 Fotos eingereicht, im vorigen Jahr waren es noch 18.000. Bei der Teilnehmerzahl (1063) wurde der Rekord vom Vorjahr nur knapp verpasst.

Um die große Zahl von Bildern angemessen zu bewältigen, suchen wir weitere Helfer für die Vorjury, zum Kategorisieren oder zum Einfügen der Bilder in die Artikel und Listen der Wikipedia.

Eine Jury wird Anfang Juli auf einer Sitzung in Fulda die besten Bilder auswählen. Nach dem Zeitplan sollen die Top100 am 15. Juli 2017 veröffentlicht werden. Kurz danach werden die Gewinner benachrichtigt.

Wir möchten auf Wiki Loves Earth Biosphere Reserves hinweisen. Bei diesem Wettbewerb können bis Ende Juni Bilder von Biosphärenreservaten aus aller Welt eingereicht werden. Selbstverständlich darf man das ganze Jahr über Bilder zu beliebigen Themen bei Wikimedia Commons hochladen, nicht nur wenn ein Wettbewerb läuft...

vom 1. bis 31. Mai 2018 können beim Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth Deutschland wieder Landschafts- und Naturfotos eingereicht werden. Sie sollen in Schutzgebieten aufgenommen worden sein. Wir würden uns freuen, wenn Du auch dieses Jahr mitmachst.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen, als Einstiegsseite kann diese Karte dienen.

Als ehemaliger Teilnehmer kannst Du bis Ende April bei der Wahl der Jury abstimmen.

Da viele tausend Bilder zu bewerten sind, wird die sogenannte Vorjury ab Anfang Mai eine Vorauswahl der eingereichten Bilder übernehmen. Deine Beteiligung daran ist ausdrücklich erwünscht. Bei Interesse trage Dich bitte unter WLE-Vorjury ein, das Passwort kommt dann per E-Mail.

Wiki Loves Earth 2019

vom 1. bis 31. Mai 2019 kannst Du wieder beim Fotowettbewerb Wiki Loves Earth Deutschland (WLE 2019) teilnehmen. Gesucht sind selbst aufgenommene Landschafts- und Naturfotos aus Schutzgebieten in Deutschland.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg kann diese Übersichtsseite dienen.

WLE 2019 kann nur durchgeführt werden, wenn weitere Mitarbeiter und Mitarbeiterinnen unser Team verstärken. Es geht unter anderem um die Organisation in der Wikipedia und das Sortieren der Bilder auf Commons. Über Art und Umfang der Beteiligung entscheidest Du selbst.

Wie in den Vorjahren übernimmt eine Vorjury ab Anfang Mai die Vorauswahl der Bilder. Auch daran kannst Du Dich gern beteiligen. Bei Interesse trage Dich bitte unter WLE-Vorjury ein, das Passwort kommt per E-Mail.

Besonders engagierte Freiwillige werden für die Jury benötigt. Wenn Du vom 12. bis 14. Juli in Fulda die besten Bilder küren willst, melde Dich auf der Jury-Seite.

Unterkategorien

Hallo Frank Behnsen! Vielen Dank für das Anlegen der Unterkat. Ginnheimer Wäldchen. Könntest Du mir bitte einen Tipp (Kurzanleitung) geben, wie das mit dem Anlegen der Unterkategorien in Kategorien geht? Ich habe schon stundenlang gelesen und komme nicht klar (ist so ausführlich beschrieben und ich kapier es einfach nicht). Kann es sein, dass man erstmal eine neue Kategorie benennen muss, die dann erstmal Rot erscheint und die dann nachher in die entsprechende Hauptkat. verschieben? Fall es Dir keine Mühe macht, wäre ich für eine Minianleitung in kurzen Stichworten dankbar, oder an wen kann ich mich hier wenden (Mentor???) Grüße--Nadi2018 (talk) 09:21, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

Hallo Nadi, das Anlegen von Unterkategorien ist eigentlich genauso einfach wie das Anlegen neuer Kategorien. Es ist wie Du schreibst: Man muss erstmal eine neue Kategorie benennen (ich mache das immer übers Suchfeld) und die Seite per Klick auf den Rotlink anlegen. Ins Beschreibungsfeld dieser neu angelegten Kategorieseite werden zuunterst (oder auch als alleiniger Inhalt, falls keine Kategorie-Beschreibung gewünscht ist) einfach die gewünschten Oberkategorien dieser neuen Kategorie eingetragen. Der Wikicode im Bearbeitungsfeld sieht dann so aus:

[[Category:Gewünschte Oberkategorie A]]

[[Category:Gewünschte Oberkategorie B]]

[[Category:Gewünschte Oberkategorie etc.]]

Mainkai und Radroutennetz (Karte) in Frankfurt

Wie kommt man von den Hessischen Radfernwegen und dem Mainradweg an den Mainkai bzw. in den Wikipedia-Artikel? (sowas wie eine Anfrage für eine Karte zum Radroutennetz (in der Altstadt und dem nördlichen Mainufer) von Frankfurt und für aktuelle Bilder zu den Strecken oder der Beschilderung am Mainkai und den Querverbindungen über den Main. Hilfreich vielleicht auch die Category:Cycling in Frankfurt am Main (noch ohne WP-Artikel (-> mögliche Kat). Auch für die Fahrradstraße in Dreieich habe ich leider noch nicht ein Bild oder 'ne Karte (mit open street map?) für den / die Artikel gefunden. Wäre das was für Dich in unserer arbeitsteiligen Bildungswelt? --LudwigSebastianMicheler (talk) 14:57, 9 August 2019 (UTC) Gerne auch Cartoons zum Überleben als Fahrradfahrer im Dschungel von Frankfurt (für Anregungen gibt es da einen Abschnitt, eng umwickelt von einer Hochstrassenorgie der Verkehrsplaner), eine rockige Mainkuh für den Kai, mit Ausblick auf den Main (mit oder ohne Kette?), oder zum Aufzug hinab zum Tiefbahnhof am Mainkai für Fahrradfahrer ("manchmal wünsche ich mir dass die nicht überall so schnell rumfahren und in den Zug steigen um mal auf's Land zu fahren ..." - ist da unten in der Röhre Rock?
