Thanks for uploading File:Bruce Poliquin official congressional photo.jpeg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

Hi, just letting you know the boundaries for Baffin Bay in this file are incorrect. The official boundaries can be found in the Canadian Geographical Names Database. Is it possible for you to create maps for Davis Strait and the Labrador Sea? Thanks! Volcanoguy (talk) 21:36, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.Elisfkc (talk) 02:50, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

Important message for file movers
A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect
user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.
Possible acceptable uses of this ability:
- To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
- To perform file name swaps.
- When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)
Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.
The malicious or reckless breaking of file links via the suppressredirect
user right is considered an abuse of the file mover right and is grounds for immediate revocation of that right. This message serves as both a notice that you have this right and as an official warning. Questions regarding this right should be directed to administrators. --Majora (talk) 21:35, 7 November 2019 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Mike Conaway, official portrait, 116th Congress.jpg
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Mike Conaway, official portrait, 116th Congress.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File source is not properly indicated: File:1key.svg
This media was probably deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:1key.svg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (
:File:1key.svg ).
If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

You need to Respect the license limitations on images you arbitrarily decide to amend
I notice you have unilaterally took it upon yourself to replace the work of other Wikipedia users by taking the images (of signatures) they have taken time and made an effort to produce and substituting those images with your own computer generated tracings of those images.
Firstly, I do not see why you deem it fit to override the work of others and replace it with your own without even opening a discussion about substitution (such arbitrary changes could amount to vandalism).
Secondly, you are breaching some of the copyright licenses on the images you produce. I, for example, uploaded two signatures for the benefit of the Wikipedia Community - Charles Dickens & Robert Burns. I created those images from original documents I own. I released them to the Wikipedia community with a limited license - i.e. if they are changed/modified in any way, then the origin must be referenced. You have changed them and have not referenced the origin.
Thirdly, some people like to see the original signatures of the historical figures in question. Have you once opened a discussion about your changes?
I suggest you go back and look at every license for every signature images you have amended and see if your new computer (Illustrator) image correctly complies with the terms of the license under which such image was released.
Your alterations of my work without respecting the limited license under which those images were released is a breach of copyright. I suggest you fix them immediately. I shall be reporting your actions and breaches.

Is it just the newest 'named' ocean if it began 350000 years ago? Great article!! 2601:280:CB04:2649:55FC:BD2E:B41A:C009 16:05, 25 September 2023 (UTC)
Help to create signatures
Hi, Connormah
I see you make nice signatures. Could you made some black vector signatures based on the following documents? And take care to put the same license tag as the document.
Thank you in advance! 0x0a (talk) 17:33, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:PatFallon118th.jpg.
Thank you. |
