Please ignore if unwanted
Please also see Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems/Archive 87 which contains [1] (in which A.Savin reported me again and led to the desop of another admin) and [2] (in the latter I was wrong although I was advised to move it there from the Help Desk) but I learned a great deal from that mistake. I would value any advice/suggestions you can give me, as I am faulty but well meaning. Best wishes, Krok6kola (talk) 16:47, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Krok6kola: As a general rules it is better to avoid conflict. My advice to you is therefore to avoid the confrontation with A.Savin. Here they reverted you but IMO you should not have reverted too, specialy if they write an explicative comment in the edit summary. That don't mean that they are right to threaten you with blocking, especially because of past events. And also, as an administrator they could/should have discussed (i.e. to show the example as an administrator) instead of directly to warn of blocking, and this is even more true because of the past events. Regarding Category:Demonstrations and protests in Belfast or any other category where you disagree with someone with whom it is not possible for you to chat, the best way is always to have as much opinion as possible, e.g. in the Village Pump, and also this has the advantage that under the spotlight you will undergo much less or not at all the pressure of potentially too authoritarian people. I beg you, for your own good, to respect A.Savin as much as possible, as, 1/they are a conbritutor as the others and they deserve respect 2/it is better for everyone to contribute without conflict 3/if ever it turns out that they are not a good administrator then it is better not to give them even the beginning of a reason for looking for trouble against you.
In summary don't revert them, always be polite as much as possible, and if either you have a topic that you really care about and that you can't talk to them about then go in the Village Pump. Or so make a friend of them. I hope to have helped you a little. Christian Ferrer (talk) 18:50, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Deleted pictures
Hi Christian, I realized that you deleted my pictures. The website that I have taken the pictures from already released copyright to Wikipedia. Why is the picture deleted and how can i avoid this? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esmaeili.nooshin (talk • contribs) 17:46, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, as per our policies com:Scope and com:Licensing, the photos that have been already published somewhere must have been published under a free compatible license (if so then provide a link to the webpage that contains the image and the license), or the copyright holder must send a permission to our permission system. That is the same thing for the logo. Christian Ferrer (talk) 17:55, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
Hi Again Christian, If i rename the logo file to stat that "This is the official logo of the ACSF" and the other image as "ACSF 2019 symposium participants" will this solve the issue? Also i am not able to upload the images anymore and why is that? Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esmaeili.nooshin (talk • contribs) 17:57, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- No you must not re-upload the images that have been deleted, if it is what you mean. And no, the title is not the issue, see my comment above. Christian Ferrer (talk) 17:59, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- To be more precise, the photo is available there, in order to restore the photo, the copyright holder must put a free license on that web page. Christian Ferrer (talk) 18:03, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
The Architecture, Culture, and Spirituality Forum (ACSF)
The copyright holder have already released the copyright by sending an email to the permissions team -(Alfred Neumann) on Dec 29, 2020. How can I upload the pictures again with the right copyright? how can they put the free license on their page? Esmaeili.nooshin (talk) 18:10, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, in that case, there is only to wait. There is a queue in our permission system, sorry but this is run by volunteers. If a valid permission have been sent then the file(s) concerned will be undeleted by our team when the message will be processed. I have not access to the permission system, so if you have other questions regarding a permission that have been already sent then you may ask at Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard by clicking on "start a new discussion".
Cordialement, Christian Ferrer (talk) 14:47, 16 January 2021 (UTC)

Marcel Reymond
Hello, My name is Emil kalinowski. I uploaded a proflile picture of Marcel Reymond which you have deleted in September last year. I would like to know the reason. I would be grateful for the explanation/answer. Regards --Eks0123 (talk) 11:26, 21 January 2021 (UTC) Emil Kalinowski — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eks0123 (talk • contribs) 11:17, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, yes I can answer. It was nominated for deletion since March 2020. You uploaded the image as an "Own work" while this is a very old image, and you are very unlikely the copyright holder, therefore the CC license is bogus here. Some old images may be accepted here but with sufficiant infos (date, author, country of publication) to determine the copyright status. See Commons:Copyright rules, Commons:Licensing and Commons:Project scope. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 11:45, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Hello again, Many thanks for the answer. As you might notice I have introduced 2 pictures of Marcel Reymond: first - profile (you deleted that), second - the ski jump (you didn't delete this). All of them are the property of the family, precisely - the decendant of Marcel Reymond (I have mentioned that in polish, there is no such choice like decendant). I have put them on behalf of the family. Thus - I can send an obverse the picture to aviod any misunderstanding. Let me fix that problem, and redo that deleted picture. Thanks in advance for your time and effort. Emil Kalinowski --Eks0123 (talk) 10:27, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

Hello, could you have a look at this user [3] . Inserts photos causing copyright violation. For example this photo [4] is from here [5] Sumek101 (talk) 07:16, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Done thanks you, I deleted 7 images. Christian Ferrer (talk) 07:30, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- I think all "his work" are stolen. For example this file Pancerny.png is a copy of this Beret 1.png. User did not include the original author. In addition to "his berets", drawings of military badges also appear on the web Sumek101 (talk) 07:48, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

- Done neutral on a potential scope issue and sorry if I didn't followed you, but see my comment there, note I deleted the file displayed in the DR page for copyright issue. Christian Ferrer (talk) 22:09, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help. My main concern was that someone should take a look at this DR. To keep the file is fine for me. Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 09:07, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
Hi, I have found three more files which need attention:
The first and third file should be kept, the second should be deleted in my opinion. Perhaps you can take a look at those files as well. :) Chem Sim 2001 (talk) 20:06, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Obvious copyvio
Hello Christian!
Today I discovered the file File:Shitposting.jpg. In my eyes, it is an obvious copyvio. The penguin is from the animated series "The Penguins of Madagascar" by Dreamworks Animations and probably protected. I do not think that someone can use copyrighted images and present them under CC-BY-SA-4.0, as your own work - even if it is a derivative work.
Can you please take a look at this?
Best regards, Koreanovsky (talk) 21:16, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hello, yes you're right, I deleted it, thanks you. Christian Ferrer (talk) 08:22, 25 January 2021 (UTC)

Double move
Hi, as I see you active now, could you please do the following steps? :)
- Delete File:Guida alle costellazioni - Regioni celesti scelte 1.4.pdf.
- Move File:Guida alle costellazioni - Regioni celesti scelte 1.4a.pdf to File:Guida alle costellazioni - Regioni celesti scelte 1.4.pdf.
(No redirect behind)
I am the original uploader. I'm also the original creator of that book. This is a PDF version of my book whose text is hosted on Wikibooks. I fixed some typos on this file, nothing that requires a step forward from version 1.4 to version 1.4a or else. Unfortunately I can't do these things by myself because this PDF's size is greater than 100MB so I can't use the "upload a new version of this file" function, because the new Wizard can't handle file replacing. So I have to disturb admins.
Thanks a lot. :) Roberto Segnali all'Indiano 20:46, 27 January 2021 (UTC)
Several photos nominated for deletion.
Hi Christian. You have nominated several photos I have uploaded for deletion due to copyright violation. These include; Conan Byrne.png , Colin Coates.png and Michael O'Connor.png. I am a member of the Media Team at Glenavon FC. I have uploaded the original versions of the images, with the photographer also being credited. I'm not sure where the copyright violation has taken place. Also, Jonathan Tuffey.png was taken from a public domain, therefore is subject to fair use.
Many thanks, Ben. Ben d02 (talk) 10:28, 1 February 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben d02 (talk • contribs) 10:20, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi I saw the images already published in https://www.glenavonfc.com/squad-profiles-2/ and I also saw the attributions but if you are not the copyright holder, we requires that either a source in the web with a compatible free license be provided, or that a permission be sent by mail by the copyright holder to our permission system. For Jonathan Tuffey.png sorry but we don't apply fair use here. See also com:Scope. We have so many copyright violations that we have established rules to follow in order to protect the rights of the copyright holders. Sorry. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 11:01, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- I completely understand, thanks for the clarification. Could you please provide some guidance in regards to how I can add a source to these images? Also, with Mourneview Park 2020.jpg, the original creator has emailed with release permission, so this should be resolved. Many Thanks, Ben (edit:i replied but I wasn't signed in. apologies) Ben d02 (talk) 11:14, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- That was quite fast for Mourneview Park 2020.jpg, yes this is resolved for this one. What do you mean "how I can add a source to these images"? do you mean the images that I deleted? if there is a wep page with the images and a free license, so just point me to this page, and if it is ok, I will restore the files and will put the sources. Christian Ferrer (talk) 11:44, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- I work with the creator of Mourneview Park 2020.jpg so it was easy to resolve. The web page to source these images is https://www.glenavonfc.com/squad-profiles-2/ , however if this doesn't suffice I can get written permission for the use of the images from Glenavon FC. Ben d02 (talk) 12:02, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Christian, I've also noticed you have deleted Gary Hamilton.png. The source for this image is https://www.glenavonfc.com/management-team/ , however I can also include this in the written permission as previously mentioned, if needed. Ben d02 (talk) 13:19, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Ben d02: No that is not sufficient, the pages must contains a license such as CC BY-SA 4.0 (in all cases not ND or NC), if it is added then let me know, otherwise someone of the football club must send a permission by mail as is was done for the other file. - Hi Christian, the Glenavon FC Media Officer has emailed the permission. Ben d02 (talk) 16:14, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

Re:desysop prior discussion
Thanks for keeping track of this behavior of A.Savin. Regarding me, he has tracked my edits since at least May 2020 in order to revert for trivial reasons and threaten blocks for vandalism and delete categories I was forming without any discussion with me or even informing me, resulting repeatedly in my confusion over what was happening.
I am hopeful the current incident will result in a decrease of this behavior on his part, though probably he will never have his admin rights taken away.
Currently we are both involved in a discussion at the Village Pump, for the first time ever a discussion, so that is a hopeful sign.
Kindest regards, Krok6kola (talk) 16:06, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
- Though I indeed opened a sub-topic about A.Savin it is not me who called it "desysop prior discussion", by the way I didn't think it would be a success. I opened that sub-topic to say what I had to say.
If everyone can understand each other without threatening each other, so much the better, of course. Christian Ferrer (talk) 17:13, 4 February 2021 (UTC)
Please participate in the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons!
Dear Christian Ferrer
Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.
After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a policy (available in many languages) that has been ratified by the Board of Trustees. We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. As a member of the functionary team of Wikimedia Commons, your opinion on enforcement is of great value. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so. There are a few enforcement questions so you can easily outline your answers based on them. Please do not hesitate to bring any more questions/challenges you think are not yet discussed.
The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.
As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.
Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you! Wikitanvir (WMF) (talk) 10:18, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
The Searchers
Dear Christian, thank you for the information about deleted all of "my" media. Probably I've done something wrong, but in fact, I don't know what :-) I assumed that the covers of LPs, SP's or CD's are free to use. All profiles of music albums on Wikipedia have images with original covers (in fact not only on Wikipedia, but also every record store or many radio web sites, etc.). It's impossible to have permission for each and every cover art. So please let me know, What makes this sixties band, The Searchers, an exception? For comparison - another British band called The Kinks (same sixties era, same record company, same people who made these artworks) have every album cover on Wikipedia (and thousands of others). I don't know where to ask or what to do... I'm sorry for the bad English. I am from Prague, Czech Republic :-) Lukas (Huttershofen), Huttershofen (talk) 00:38, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Huttershofen: Hi Lukas, your English is not so bad in my opinion, the policies of Wikimedia Commons, com:Licensing and com:Scope, forbids us to upload content that are not either freely licensed or which are not in the public domain. It's true that you can see some album covers in Wikipedia, e.g. this one, but this is done under the Non-free use rationale. I'm not used with thind kind of practice but I guess that it will be easy for you to find someone able to help you within Wikipedia if necessary. Hope this helped you. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 08:42, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Christian Ferrer: Thanks for the reply. I gave it three hours and I still don't get the system how to upload image under Non-free use rationale. Too many pages, and more and more links on each new page (plus professional English is too difficult for me). It must be very simple, everyone does it (and every band does have album covers on their Discography Wikipedia pages). But...in the end I uploaded one image again... and again wrong. I give up, I can't do it. The Searchers will be without images of their albums. Huttershofen (talk) 12:29, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Huttershofen: Ok no problem with the file uploaded, I deleted it. Maybe you should ask help at the en:Wikipedia:Teahouse. Christian Ferrer (talk) 12:37, 7 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Christian Ferrer: OK, thanks a lot ;-) Huttershofen (talk) 13:44, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

The first one give the number of statements about the item by property and the second the list of statement about the properties. Second, for items of class award, it includes predefined SPARQL queries from TP award. See Q1624297 for an example.

Please take a short survey regarding UCoC
Hello Christian Ferrer,
I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can take the survey even if you have already participated in the on-wiki consultation. It has a different set of questions and allows you to participate anonymously and privately.
As a member of the Commons functionaries, your opinion is especially essential. Please click here to participate in the survey.
You are still welcome to participate in the on-wiki discussions. If you prefer you can have your say by sending me an email. You can also drop me an email if you want to have a one-to-one chat.
Thank you for your participation! Wikitanvir (WMF) 13:53, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

- UseAsRef script allows you to add references to statements using one external ID as source (see User:Bargioni/UseAsRef and this YouTube video for more information)
- Other Noteworthy Stuff
- Abstract Wikipedia presents prototypes of two tools that could help people to visualize, exemplify, and better guide our understanding of the coverage of lexicographic data in Wikidata.
- Public Domain Tool, developed by the Flemish Institute for Archives automates the process of determining whether their collection items could be in the public domain.
- Sizes of country items (like "Portugal" (Q45)) were recently reduced by 30% to 50% by moving a few economics properties to "economy of"-items (sample: "economy of Portugal" (Q1649355)). The item "economy of Portugal" is currently larger than "Portugal". This can simplify uses of country items that previously timed-out. Infoboxes can still access the properties with the link through "economy of topic" (P8744).
- Later this week, the development team will enable a rate limit for assigning new item IDs. Bots and users who successfully create items should notice no change, since the rate limit is equal to the existing limit on all edits. However, bots that often fail to create items may start to see different error messages than usual. This will hopefully reduce the problem of skipped item IDs.

Blocage Fan de Politique
Bonjour,
