Undelete:Mama - ulazna vrata i display .jpg
Hi Christian - would you mind undeleting the photo as this was photo made by me and published on the website with CreativeCommons share alike licence. Thank you! --Zblace (talk) 19:27, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I see in the my old rationale that I deleted it because it was available in: I quote " http://www.zoeforward.org/mama ", if I had saw a free license then I wouldn't have deleted the file, and the link is now dead. Therefore no, without further evidence of prior free publication, I'm not willing to undelete the file. Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:36, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
- Photo was republished on personal blog of person that works at www.mi2.hr *(you can read the info on the page you quote), which was initial promoter of free/open content and localizer of CreativeCommons licence in Croatia *(publishing everything in permissive licencing), hosting people like Richard Stallman, Lawrence Lessig and many more (check blog from that time)...there was no way it would be publish as copyrighted material. Croatian law is not assuming copyright as default. OK? Zblace (talk) 11:15, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks you for the explanations and links, but there is an issue, even if we consider that "Croatian law is not assuming copyright as default" is true, thing that is hard to believe, the issue is that our local policy is very clear: "Wikimedia Commons only accepts media that are explicitly freely licensed" more details and explanations are available at com:Licensing. To be uploaded here, all media already published elsewhere must be so under explicit compatible licence terms, otherwise the copyright holder must send a permission to our permission system. Question
hi, an image which I got from another person or downloaded but later I modified its pixel RGB composition or added things and so to it, will it be a copyright violation or can it be consider my own work.Yours sincerely.Luwanglinux (talk) 15:20, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi no the other person has still some rights on their work even after you modified it. If your modifications are consequential then the new work is called a "derivative work" and you may have some rights on that derivative work, but even in this case the original author keep also some rights. Christian Ferrer (talk) 15:41, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
- Christian Ferrer thanks for the info kindly check if the remaining upload from my wikicommon violate any other copyright law to be honest I am not a photographer so none of my upload are from my camera but I really wanted to use those picture in wikipedia so thats my intention for tagging them as own work I won't violate such rule again. But kindly recheck all my upload..your sincerelyLuwanglinux (talk) 12:45, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- As you are not the photographer I deleted all the photos, the coats of arms were also an issue without a free souce, the flag is likely too simple to be protected, but you should put the relevant infos in each remaining files, such as the dates of creation, and the relevant a public domain license tag such as {{PD-India}} or {{PD-Art-100}} or {{PD-Art}} instead of the CC licenses. Christian Ferrer (talk) 16:03, 2 November 2020 (UTC)

I see you closed Commons:Deletion requests/Template:Nofacebook and deleted {{Nofacebook}} some time ago, but the template still used and you haven't deleted the subpages. Usually the deleting admin takes care of that so I wonder why it hasn't been done yet? Multichill (talk) 18:50, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Multichill: Oh thanks you for the notification, to delete templates is not an usual task for me, I didn't think about the sub pages. Advice needed
Hi again, I'm unsure how to proceed; I nominated a file, the uploader responded that in this case it's his/her "own creation" and to "check the website", yet the website has a copyright note on it, and doesn't (as far as I can see) state any photographer. Should the template be change to a No OTRS permission and/or the uploader be told to write the OTRS... or? TherasTaneel (talk) 15:46, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, that is a clear copyright violation, furthermore this looks a kind of attempts of advetizing. This is out of our project scope and likely not acceptable even with a permission. I deleted the file, this kind of case meet the criteria for speedy deletion. Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:02, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

manananggal image
i had a question regarding this image https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Manananggal.jpg you are listed as being involved with the current version of it, but i am not certain if you were the original author or if you just touched it up. anyways, I was hoping to find a version of the image without the paper like texture. please contact me at dlcnate1@gmail.com if you can help me.
- No sorry, I can't help. Someone overwritted the file, then I reverted and I deleted the newest image, this is why I'm quoted in the logs. Christian Ferrer (talk) 07:48, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi. At "File:Noraini Ahmad.jpg", User:Amir Noor Muhammad twice uploaded a photograph over the original photograph. Although the upload has been reverted, since this user has repeatedly uploaded photographs in breach of copyright, I think it would be advisable to delete the new photograph from the file's history. Amir Noor Muhammad's uploads
Hi, I think User:Amir Noor Muhammad, whom you previously banned for a week, may need a longer or even a permanent ban. He unfortunately does not seem to appreciate or care what content is allowable here at the Commons. Since the ban ended, he has uploaded the following images:
- File:Rina2020.jpg – sourced to the website of the Malaysian Parliament. No indication that the photograph is released under a CC licence; at the bottom of the website this appears: "2020 © Hakcipta Terpelihara Parlimen Malaysia" ("All Rights Reserved Malaysian Parliament").
- File:HanipaJPM.jpg – claimed to be "own work", but appears to be from the official Facebook page of the Timbalan Menteri Undang-Undang (Deputy Minister of Law). It is conceivable that Amir Noor was the photographer, but I think some OTRS confirmation is necessary.
— SGconlaw (talk) 12:13, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks you for the notification. Indeed for a photo already published without a free compatible license we need an OTRS permission. I deleted the images and blocked the user for 3 month, then we'll see. Christian Ferrer (talk) 12:35, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I don't know whether it will do much good to post a message on his talk page explaining why his uploads are problematic; personally I don't want to engage with him because he just seems to abuse users who post on his talk page. — SGconlaw (talk) 13:09, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yes it sometimes not easy to talk, and also some are unwilling to make an effort to understand potential issues. Christian Ferrer (talk) 15:33, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Persistent change of border and edit warring
Hi. I just wanted to let you know that Taha_Khattabi is doing the exact same thing as User SADIQUI that I reported to you a while back. i.e., changing the map borders and edit warring over the changes. Regards. M.Bitton (talk) 18:48, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- Could you please have a word with them as their actions are very disruptive. Thanks. M.Bitton (talk) 18:55, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, ok, I reverted almost all their edits, I left a note on their talk page, and I semi-protected the maps. Let me know if I missed something, or for other potential issues. Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:29, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. I know how time consuming these things can be. As far as I can tell, the only file that has been missed is this one. Best regards. M.Bitton (talk) 19:35, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
- Done for this one too. Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:39, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Instead of reverting, I would like to make new updated maps that show both Morocco and the S.A.D.R. based of the true border which is the berm wall. This is abuse and infringement on my freedom to edit false maps. -Taha Khattabi
- No we have policies which restricts our "freedom to edit" (whether the maps are indeed false or not), see my answer in your talk page. Christian Ferrer (talk) 21:41, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Fair enough. I would just like to point out you made a mistake in reverting the original for https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Morocco_Topography.png. It was originally dotted line border instead of solid because it's disputed. That's what it was like before I reverted it. Please revert it back to the disputed version with dotted line, not solid line, as that is how it was before. -Taha Khattabi
Christian Ferrer, I am requesting permission to be able to update these maps as I have to resources to construct politically and geographical accurate ones. This includes all of the maps that you and M.Britton reverted. Your so called reasoning does not hold up and my edits were reverted purely out of spite, so it is only you acting hastily. It's not fair to act childish for spite and block me from updated incorrect maps that show borders in the wrong places. I'm not sure what your qualifications and credentials are to continuously overturn and block my edits, I doubt you even been to or know anything about Morocco and it's politics. If not, I will flag this for false information and abuse, as you insist on preserving outdated maps.
- @Taha Khattabi: Removing other editors' comments from their own talk (like you did here) and questioning their knowledge and qualifications is not acceptable; and nor is pretending to upload a "better map" while changing the borders to suit your political POV. As for your so called true borders, I suggest you take your concerns to the CIA, seeing as their political map is used extensively throughout the wiki projects; and if that doesn't work, you could always try to convince the UN that their map (the one that the world leaders look at every time they get together) is wrong. M.Bitton (talk) 01:06, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
M.Bitton you're an asshole for reverting every single thing or little change I make out of spite. I don't appreciate the false ways my country is incorrectly portrayed and have sources to justify my changes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moroccan_Western_Sahara_Wall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Sahara. Thanks for helping me build my case now I can flag you for harassment. You've spent the whole day monitoring the changes I make then pouncing to revert them because it doesn't line up with whatever agenda you have, then have the nerve to go and report me to an admin because you're upset. Get a life
- @Christian Ferrer: As well as the personal attacks, I would also like to report that, as if removing your comment wasn't enough, they have decided to change my comment too and are now edit warring over the change that I highlighted above. M.Bitton (talk) 01:50, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Christian Ferrer: I second this and report that the user M.Bitton has started edit warring again and constantly harassing.
- this gem speaks for itself. I have no idea what they're playing at, but this cannot continue. M.Bitton (talk) 02:07, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
@ChristianFerrer request to semi-protect https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Sahrawi_Arab_Democratic_Republic_(orthographic_projection).svg, this is getting out of hand clearly this guy has too much time on his hands. - TahaKhattabi
- Don't worry, the file will be semi-protected and your changes reverted per Commons:Overwriting existing files, especially after what you wrote when asked to restore the border that you removed: I don't need to do anything, I will not restore a border that is fictional. Correct border according to the berm wall with the different shades of green. Keep going at this buddy, I've got all night., leaving no doubt as to what you're trying to achieve. M.Bitton (talk) 02:21, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
If anything it will be restored to https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/0/07/20201121133434%21Sahrawi_Arab_Democratic_Republic_%28orthographic_projection%29.svg per Commons:Overwriting existing files because the user inverted the colors. That's a far bigger change than missing border that you're hallucinating. Taha Khattabi
It looks like Taha Khattabi couldn't wait for their block to expire in order to resume their POV pushing and edit warring. I'm sorry to have to turn to you yet again, but I'm at wits' end with this editor. M.Bitton (talk) 17:45, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
Likewise. And it looks like you were alert on my edits and I do not know how on earth you were notified when I made them, most likely monitering my contributions which is bizarre. Really I am just exercising the freedom to make legitimate contributions and edits to this site like everybody else (and giving reasoning!). Do not edit war this is a public domain
- @Christian Ferrer: Thank you very much for taking care of what seems like a never ending issue. M.Bitton (talk) 18:06, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- @M.Bitton: No problem you are welcome. Yes this is an old issue, one user have already been blocked indefinitely. Christian Ferrer (talk) 18:14, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

- Hi, I don't speak your langage, but I guess you are saying that the logo may be below the Threshold of originality. However the company is from the United Kingdom, and, as per Commons:Threshold_of_originality#United_Kingdom, almost all logos from there are not OK for Wikimedia Commons. Sorry, Christian Ferrer (talk) 22:32, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, in my browser view the top of your page appears in German, therefore I thought you are German.
- Yes, the question was why the file was deleted as for me it looks like that the logo at gsk Webseite is very simple, similar to File:.NET Core Logo.svg or File:AccuPower Logo.svg which are covered by Category:Simple SVG text logos. Also in the German WP the Datei:GlaxoSmithKline-Logo.svg is marked below threshold of originality to claim for copyright protection and therefore it is free to use. Regards --Bert (talk) 23:50, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yes but the threshold of originality depends on the country law where is based the company, GSK is from the UK, and in the UK the requirement to have a copyright protection is very low, maybe one the lowest, e.g. en:File:EDGE magazine (logo).svg can not be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. My media files you deleted
All of the image files of mine you've just deleted
User_talk:Konfederat73#Deleted_content
were made by me. They represent covers of underground published newspapers of the Polish anti-communist movement, issued during the times of the "Solidarity" movement and during the Martial law in Poland (i.e. in the '80s and '90s). All of those newspapers were entirely FREE to use, distribute, reproduce and copy from, they were meant to be shared as widely as possible literally to anyone, they WERE NOT subject to any kind copyrights. Both physically and intellectually they have always been in the PUBLIC DOMAIN, without absolutely any restrictions. I was one of the makers of those newspapers/bulletins, so I do have the right to share them.
They all DO HAVE realistic educational purpose. The newspapers depicted by those pictures are important historical items of the Polish history. They were used in infoboxes to illustrate the topics and items described by the corresponding (approved and available) Polish Wikipedia articles. They have an obvious educational value to all those Polish Wikipedia visitors interested in the Polish history and understanding the Polish language (which I assume isn't the case with you). Maybe you should have simply asked for explanation prior to MASS-DELETING almost all my media files, which is quite disrespectful to the voluntary work of people like me.
Please, restore all the groundlessly deleted files.
Konfederat73 (talk) 21:59, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- We have a very large amount of people uploading various disk covers, newspapers, book covers, magazine covers, ect .. claiming "own works", sadly this is false in 99.99% of the cases. In order that the files be restored, the copyright holder, even if it is you, must send a permission by mail to our permission system. Christian Ferrer (talk) 06:37, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Excuse me Christian, but what is this supposed to be? COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY? I really should not be held responsible or be punished for what other people do and how THEY break your rules. I don't. When uploading the works, each time I was required to CLEARLY STATE whether I made them and if I have the right to use them -- and I did state my ownership. There is absolutely nothing wrong with those images, so I really can't understand what triggered your attention and made you delete them all without even asking me for any explanation first. I don't think it is valid and justified to suspect me and discard my work like that just because "other people's claims are usually false so maybe mine's too". This way you could actually question credibility of virtually ANY existing media file, which is just crazy. Or maybe it is about some selected countries/nationalities that makes you treat people from there in such a special way and question credibility without actually any valid reasons? I don't think it is wise or fair. Lastly, what in your opinion sending such an email would additionally prove to you? I already did state and confirm that each of the files was my own work. If I lied then, I'd obviously lie once again in such an email, so this is a plain waste of time. As a registered user (for several years, with no record of breaking any rules or violation of any copyrights) and logged in, with my IP address recorded, i.e. taking full responsibility, I already DID STATE my ownership and my rights to share those files, just as you require. So please RESPECT your own rules and do not force me to have to go through some bizarre additional humiliating procedures of stating once again what I already stated, especially if I haven't given any actual reasons for that and you couldn't provide any valid explanation for treating me like a thief and liar, other than that "a very large amount of other people's claims are false", which has absolutely NOTHING to do with me and my works.
Herewith I repeat that I am the owner of all those works, I take full responsibility for uploading them here, and by selecting the licence I already did give the corresponding permissions. Therefore - as long as you actually cannot indicate any fault of mine that would justify to treat me in such a special way and require me to prove my identity and credibility in some extra ways - I am kindly asking you once again to UNDELETE MY WORKS. Konfederat73 (talk) 11:16, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
- My answer is the same as above. You may ask the opinion of another administrator()s in Commons:Undeletion requests or potentially to other users in Commons:Village pump/Copyright. Sorry, Christian Ferrer (talk) 11:41, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Well, if your only response is "my answer is the same" then indeed, there's no point in any futher discussion. I will certainly NOT undergo any bizarre apartheid-like procedures you apply to selected people based on unknown criteria, if you haven't even pointed out any valid reasons for mass-deleting all my works other than that "other people do bad things", without indicating any actual faults of mine. Please keep discouraging and scaring away people like me from Wikipedia, it'll surely serve it well. Konfederat73 (talk) 18:33, 4 December 2020 (UTC)
Excuse me, but why did you delete that picture of Mostly Harmless that I uploaded? I sincerely doubt that a 3 year old picture of a random hiker could be copyrighted. Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dvstrr (talk • contribs) 19:53, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
- Copyright protection is automatic when the work is created, the duration of copyright protection vary within the country law but often a work is still protected 70 years after the death of the author... so a 3 year old photo... The only ways to upload such a photo that is already availble in the web is that the photo have been published under a free compatible license or that the copyright holder send a permission to our permission system. Deletion requests
Hello Christian Ferrer!
Can you please delete those files:
- File:Subdivisions_of_North_Korea_(Croatian).svg
- File:Flag of the Kingdom of Dalmatia with CoA.png
- File:SDSS_Logo.svg
- File:HŽ_Logo.svg
Two of them are already even stuck with the deletion request for months now, and one file looks like a derivative work, while there is no information about the base map. The logos are having a unclear copyright status. Best regards, Koreanovsky (talk) 20:07, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, I closed the two DRs, however the logos were widely used and furthermore the speedy deletion is for the obvious cases, thus I converted them to regular deletion requests and I added comments there. Christian Ferrer (talk) 20:25, 12 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for deleting the two files. However, I uploaded the logos and I am not sure about the copyright situation. There would be low-quality images already uploaded for replacement anyways. I kindly ask you to delete them aswell. Best regards, Koreanovsky (talk) 20:37, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

The uploaded photos you have deleted
Dear Christian,
I am an assistant of both Amina Maher and Meret Madörin who was the photographer of the photos that you have deleted. All the photos that I have published, I already on the internet. I provided the URL for them. They have been also published on IMDB of Amina Maher. Check out here: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1179606/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1
Could you please kindly let me know, how I can upload them again and under which policies? Because I am sure that I have the permission to do this. Please kindly guide me in that regard. This clearly will help wiki and the article as the article is long enough to have photos. And it looks weird to talk about a trans woman without showing her at all.
Thanks, Reza.
@Reza Kamalifar: Hi reza, I moved your question at the bottom of my talk page, the usual way to add a new topic in a talk page is to add this topic at the bottom of that talk page. Regarding the files that I deleted, that is exaclty because they were in the web that I deleted them. Indeed as per our policies, com:Scope and com:Licensing, when the files are already available in the web, they must be available under compatible licenses terms, otherwise the copyright holder (usualy the photographer) must send a permission by mail to our permission system. All that is done to protect the rights odf the potential copyright holders. Regards, Christian Ferrer (talk) 19:46, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

Dear Christian,
Please feel free to state in the DR above if you see a free YT license or not. I do not from Canada sadly. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 04:11, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: Thank You Christian. This is the second and final DR I launched from this flickr account. I also checked on my Chrome, Firefox and MS Edge browser and see no license. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 07:47, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- Comment: Thanks for your help on the second DR Christian. I'm sure 2021 will be a better year than 2020 which was a very bad year. I will not say that 2020 was not the WORST year in 50 years but it has been a bad year and too many people have lost their jobs due to lockdowns or their lives. Psychologically it has been difficult for everyone. In Canada, 14963 Canadians have died thus far from C19 and at least 90% of them were seniors. By Monday the death toll will likely exceed 15000. Its still better than the situation in the US with 332,000+ dead under Trump sadly. On of my male business partners got C19 from his son who caught it from school which shows that no where is safe really. But at least a vaccine is on the way. Unfortunately though by the time the vaccine finally inoculates people it will likely be mid to late 2021. In Canada, PM Trudeau estimates all Canadians will get the vaccine by September 2021 which is a long long time. Best from Metro Vancouver, --Leoboudv (talk) 11:43, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, in France, it's near the same thing, all persons will get the vaccine by summer/autumn 2021. My father is in retirement home and the isolation due to the restrictions was sometimes a bit complicated, it is a bit better now but it's not over yet. The sooner this is over, the better. I notice the MO tool now works but starting in early 2021 I will be quite busy with more work sadly. So, these are my last MO uploads for a while. Sadly 2020 is a writeoff. I hope that your father gets vaccinated quickly and may you have a Happy New Year in 2021.
The British variant of C19 has already been discovered in 3 of Canada's largest provinces--British Columbia (BC), Alberta and Ontario. The barn door was closed after the horse left the stable as usual! So, seniors should get vaccinated quickly before this strain/mutation causes more damage to them.
Thank You and Best Regards from Metro Vancouver, BC, Canada, --Leoboudv (talk) 03:31, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
