Hi Caligatus, you seem to be a specialist in roman inscriptions. Non-specialists like me dont understand what CIL is. I have found it nevertheless in Wikipedia, but I could not find a source, where I could look after the signature CIL VI 37928. Would you please add this information, preferrably a web address where to look after? Thank you. --Gerd Leibrock (talk) 21:05, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum

[edit]

Gracias a disculparme si he hecho una mala jugada.

Categorie Ancient Roman inscriptons

[edit]

Bon soir, Piero:

The Roman inscriptions of Britain... ¿tu peux le faire?

Merci beacoup --scutum 18:26, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Amicalement Piero (talk) 06:29, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Round 2 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open!

[edit]
2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category have continued to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 7 March 2014. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2013/Introduction/en Click here to learn more and vote »]

In 2013 you have added to File:Städtisches Lapidarium Stuttgart, Nr. A006.jpg this note:

Nue 312: Caecilia )(mulieris) l(iberta) / Ploce

I am not an archaeologist (like most others). What does Nue 312 mean and what means „)(“?

And do you know a translation of the inscription? Thank you.--Gerd Leibrock (talk) 09:14, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We need your feedback!

[edit]

Hello. Apologies if this message is not in your native language: please feel free to respond in the language of your choice. Thank you!

I am writing to you because we are looking for feedback for a new Wikimedia Foundation project, Structured Data Across Wikimedia (SDAW). SDAW is a grant-funded programme that will explore ways to structure content on wikitext pages in a way that will be machine-recognizable and -relatable, in order to make reading, editing, and searching easier and more accessible across projects and on the Internet. We are now focusing on designing and building image suggestion features for experienced users.

We have some questions to ask you about your experience with uploading images here on Wikimedia Commons and then adding them to Wikipedia. You can answer these questions on a specific feedback page on Mediawiki, where we will gather feedback. As I said, these questions are in English, but your answers do not need to be in English! You can also answer in your own language, if you feel more comfortable.

Once the collecting of feedback will be over, we will sum it up and share with you a summary, along with updated mocks that will incorporate your inputs.

Also, if you want to keep in touch with us or you want to know more about the project, you can subscribe to our newsletter.

Hope to hear from you soon! -- Sannita (WMF) (talk to me!) 09:56, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Varias imagens

[edit]

Saludos --Agentjoerg (talk) 05:44, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Caligatus, I forgot to mention, that another reason for my structuring of the categories was the problem: how to deal with concordances. For example, according to the EDCS, CIL 03, 11310 = CIL 03, 14360,01. In order to handle this, I created both CIL-inscriptions as categories and linked them by adding CIL 03, 14360,01 to CIL 03, 11310, but added depending categories like Legio X Gemina only to CIL 03, 11310. If you have other ideas, let me know. --Agentjoerg (talk) 09:03, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
