File:SF National Cemtery notable burials marker.JPG has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. File:SF_National_Cemtery_notable_burials_marker.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
- Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
- State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
- If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
- Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
- Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.
If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.
It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.
You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.
Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.
Thank you.

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Small Hitler bust.JPG, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (

If you created the content yourself, enter If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Zonosaurus madagascariensis or not
Hi BrokenSphere! I have seen that you uploaded pictures of a lizard that you named Zonosaurus madagascariensis. Are you sure that it shows the right thing? If you look at the category, you will see two other pictures showing that species and you will notice that they look totally different. I just checked the description of Zonosaurus madagascariensis and the animal on you picture does not fit it. --Axel Strauß (talk) 12:40, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi,
- This lizard at the California Academy of Sciences was described as the Madagascar Plated Lizard and as Zonosaurus sp. I was also puzzled when the pics of the lizard in the category looked totally different from what I saw, but decided to categorize them as such per the en Wikipedia entry. Do you know or think that it's possible that this lizard may look different depending on what habitat it has per that article, or would they all tend to look somewhat the same? If you have suggestions for better categorization, by all means let me know! Thanks. --BrokenSphere 19:09, 23 April 2009 (UTC) pasted here from my discussion --Axel Strauß (talk) 10:29, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Hi BrokenSphere! Honestly, no clue what it is. I checked the literature of Malagasy Gerrhosaurids and didn't find anything that looks like "your lizard". Zonosaurus you can recognise on a lateral longitudinal fold, that reaches from the head to the forelimb and continues all along the body. I can't see that on your picture but this may be due to the displayed details and picture resolution and sharpness. The second Malagasy genus of the Gerrhosaurids (Tracheloptychus) has the same fold but it ends at the forelimb. But I think it is none of the Tracheloptychus. --Axel Strauß (talk) 10:29, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Initials in names
This to inform you that on Commons, we avoid middle names and even more abbreviated initials. Although common in the en:wikipedia, in an international multi-lingual context, this way of naming corresponds better with its effective use and simplifies significantly, including the search abilities. Enjoy the good work. --Foroa (talk) 08:17, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Why did you remove the "Males with microphones" category from a couple of images? Obama is a male and he is shown with a microphone. This category will help anyone who want a male with microphone photo, including Obama's. It still lacks many photos, but it is a good step, I guess --OsamaK 06:32, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:42, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated license
Hello!
Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.
The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.
Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

They'd very much like to use File:Central Battery 64 pound RML gun no. 1 servicing equipment HKMCD.JPG on an information panel at an old fortification on the Isle of Wight, that used to mount its artillery accessories in a similar way. There wouldn't appear to be particularly good example of wall affixed parts in the UK nowadays, but your image is close enough to the original features apparently. The image would probably be cropped and sized to roughly 10cm long, and appear on a wall mounted, freely accessible information board in a country park. They're more than happy to credit you accordingly and wanted to ask you first (hence my role in this). One thing they have said - all the other images they've credited are "Courtesy of (actual name)", and they wondered if you'd mind this instead of © BrokenSphere / Wikimedia Commons. I've already explained the wikiworld though, so its no dealbreaker! I've never set up an email account, but I'll watch your talkpage, or feel free to respond on mine.

- Not that I'm aware of I'm afraid, but there is a bit of info here. There's also a blog that a quick google will uncover, but its really only for the attractions now based in the fort rather than an in depth site. However, I think these panels are possibly the start of a bit of an overhaul, so there might be something better soon. I can certainly suggest using the image online in future as well, but can't guarantee it I'm afraid. I'd better quickly point out that this will be 1 of about 10 images on a wall mounted panel, some of which will probably be ultimately more usable for the fort's history. There might be a book in the future though.... I'm trying to think of a good way of linking your image in somehow though, any ideas? Ranger Steve (talk) 20:16, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
Re:Boston Red Sox at Oakland Athletics 2010-07-21 category
Hi there.
You said "Major League Baseball by year categories, especially from 2005 on, have too many images," I can understand. But, Boston Red Sox at Oakland Athletics 2010-07-21 category has only 4 photos when I confirmed. Only 4. I think that one-game category is inappropriate because it focuses too much on specific things while over 2,400 MLB games hold in one year. It is too specific to find files.
You created several categories that focuses on a team in a specific year. It is a good idea. But it is regrettable that your contributions is unfinished. When you started Category:2010 Tampa Bay Rays season, you should categorize all Rays-related medias taken in 2010 before creating other team's category. Sorry for my poor English, thanks. --UCinternational (talk) 03:20, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

Richard Pini
I suppose. You could also just make it a separate category. This may especially be useful where things like the "birth year" categories are concerned, since it's easier for someone to understand who was born when if they're in their own cats. For my part, when I uploaded photos that included Jonathan and Joshua Luna or Neal Adams and Josh Adams in the same photo, I still put them in separate cats. - Okay. Nightscream (talk) 19:46, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- Awesome. It looks great. I switched out the photo in their Wikipedia article with that new one, and changed the Wendy Pini pic in the collage in the comic book creator article. Thanks. :-) Nightscream (talk) 03:26, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
That's not Agnieszka Radwańska...
Hello,
I've just found four pictures of Agnieszka Radwańska added to Wikimedia Commons by you. Problem: on these pictures, it's not Agnieszka Radwańska, but her sister Urszula... Thanks to modify what needs to be changed ;)
I've already changed categories and descriptions for these pics. By the way, nice shots :)

- I'm absolutely sure that the woman on the pictures is Urszula Radwańska (Agnieszka isn't blond-haired, whereas her sister is, for example). There are some other shots on Wikimedia of the two sisters, so you can easily verify this player's identity. I know that Agnieszka Radwańska often travels with her sister Urszula when she plays a tournament, so it can explain why Urszula was present in Stanford (no doubt she was training because she was back on the courts the week after).
- Here are pictures of the two Radwańskas:

... and here, Agnieszka.
Here is another picture of Agnieszka, on the Bank of the West Classic's website: Click here. Agnieszka reached semifinals of the tournament, but Urszula didn't play, I think she was just training on the pictures.

Hi, when using this template on a file page, always use a substitution, as described in Commons:Deletion policy#Missing legal information. Regards Hekerui (talk) 21:11, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- I notice your signature doesn't link to your talk page - I clicked to the right and landed on your userpage, which has so much stuff on it, I thought it was the talk page. Hekerui (talk) 07:03, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
