Your expression (Armenian Eternity sign)

[edit]

Dear Dougweller, Your expression "is not a recognized expert" has driven me into shock .

I am 20 years of his life to the development of information technologies in Armenia , and the first who received the Presidential Award in the field. Im a creator of ArmSCII and developer of all Armenian systems. I founded and 20 years of supervised Armenian computer center, which at one time was the leading organization in the field of IT , and is also referred to in Article ArmSCII. The only reference in the article ArmSCII - on my old web page:

ArmSCII-8

All ArmSCII standards

There you will see who signed all of these standards (Docs are PDF, but this site under charset=ArmSCII-8, not UNICODE). Even registration and addition in Unicode, and the letter from the National Institute of Standards was me. As an expert from the National Institute of Standards I officially represented Armenia in Unicode in 1997 , in what you can see by reading the minutes of the meeting of the Consortium in Crete:

ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 2/WG 2 N1603 DATE: 1997-10-24. pp. 4, 42, 58.

You can also ask the Michel Everson (User:Evertype) whether Vahram Mekhitarian from Armenia is an ArmSCII developer, and whether he are a recognized expert in Armenia these systems?

Soon the National Institute of Standards represented his letter with comments on own Official website, and hopefully , the problem of the status of the sources of the article Armenian Eternity sign to decide .

I'm not random physicist , which is why to write an article about Armenian Eternity sign. Nor must it be wrong, which I'm not a famous physicist and an IT professional.

I'm a man from east and I do not like the exposed, but such an assessment from you I did not expect. It should change his mind and correct the error , restore the link to the source History of ArmSCII by Vahram Mekhitarian in article Armenian Eternity sign.

Sincerely, Vahram Mekhitarian (talk) 17:30, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure why you've posted here and not at en.wiki, and my comments following refer only to en.wiki policy and guidelines. I can understand why you are upset and am sorry that this upset you, but it's based on a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge of en.wiki guidelines and policies. These are at [1] and [2]. The question is, are you a reliable source by our criteria for historical information. So far as I can see the answer has to be you are not. You don't have the relevant qualifications or a track record of publication in peer reviewed publications on history. You haven't had a book on history published by an academic press. You may well be a reliable source for physics and Armenian IT, but that doesn't transfer to history. If you really don't think I'm right after reading the links I gave you, we do have a noticeboard at [3] to discuss such issues. Again, I'm sorry if you feel insulted - that was never meant - but we have our policies and guidelines that we use to determine reliability. Dougweller (talk) 15:26, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I blocked in en.wiki, so I write here. Thanks for the reply. Vahram Mekhitarian (talk) 15:38, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Dougweller, help resume the discussion "The Borjgali is not a Georgian symbol of national identity". Vahram Mekhitarian (talk) 05:45, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hoax recreated

[edit]

Hi Doug, there's an issue on English Wikipedia: few years ago someone created the article Sura of Parthia which was identified as fake, deleted and listed among the famous hoaxes ever. The story about "one of the greatest ancient female commanders-in-chief" obviously gained online popularity in meanwhile, appeared on several internet outlets, so it was recreated again as Princess Sura of Parthia. I personally checked both primary and scholarly sources so I can assure you that such person never existed. Herodian do mentions some daughter, but as unnamed, and not as a military commander. Orijentolog (talk) 22:35, 11 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Orijentolog agreed, but I want to take it to AfD, partially because I'm worried about the creator's judgement. Doug Weller (talk) 07:38, 12 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from an editor

[edit]

Why are you lying to delete photos of my Aunt and Uncle and persecute our family? Why not target Zelenko for pretending Christian O'Brien had children? He is obviously not here to build and encyclopedia whereas I am. [4] SpooksBGone (talk) 12:34, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SpooksBGone What kind of idiot could make this claim?
EugeneZelenko wrote: Historical photo. Proper author/date/country of creation information should be supplied to determine copyrights status and license tags corrected.

The person who actually uploaded the image is the one who said they were family.
I am the grandson of Christian O'Brien. This is a scan of a print owned by Christian O'Brien, now in my ownership. It is difficult to determine precisely when the photo was taken. Given that he appears to be in his 50s, it would seem likely that the photo was taken in the mid to late 1960s. It would have almost certainly been taken in the United Kingdom where he lived. Jstars780 (talk) 16:48, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
You need to apologise. Doug Weller (talk) 13:07, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry to accuse Zelenko by mistake but this Jstars780 account is certainly not related to Christian or Barbara Joy as they had no children. SpooksBGone (talk) 13:18, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SpooksBGone You've also accused me of lying in the section heading. Do I get an apology? Doug Weller (talk) 13:59, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly. I apologise for the mix up and thank you for correcting my point about this Jstars account that caused the problem and look forward to your assistance correcting it. SpooksBGone (talk) 14:09, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I don't have time. It's not just Parkinson's, it's terminal cancer and I've spent too long on this already, I have better things to do. Doug Weller (talk) 14:12, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to hear that too. Best wishes. SpooksBGone (talk) 14:29, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Error

[edit]

Please see File:Papplewick steampunk hatvideo.webm#Licensing. I don't know what caused it, but it's a cool video and would be a shame to lose it. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:47, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That’s the wrong licence in any case. I’ll try to fix it tomorrow. I don’t want attribution. Just hope I’m ok tomorrow, my chemo tires me during the first few days, just started 6 tablets a day that are so toxic I have to wash my hands. Fine today though.
