Account renaming

[edit]

Hello, I've already been able to rename my account from "gaby_la_star" to "gbrlhtclcq" in the French and English wikipedia, but in commons.wikimedia.org my user name is still "gaby_la_star". Could you please rename my account from "gaby_la_star" to "gbrlhtclcq" ? That would be awesome. I want to rename because I don't want my name to be associated with "gaby_la_star" anymore. Thanks for any help ! Kind regards, Gaby la star (talk) 07:34, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit : Sorry, I now followed the procedure on http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Changing_username#Procedure :)

Please help replace this outdated license

[edit]

Hello!

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license PD. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding PD-self if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

The images we would like you to check are:

Dear Bot.
Since this is a Public Domain image, as with any Public Domain image, the community is more than allowed, on its own, to readjust this to a more appropriate license tag as it sees fit. Bastique demandez 16:38, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about it, but in fact my mass speedy deletion marking is nothing special on Commons. This is rather a common and acceptable behavior on Commons. In fact the user who marked my file with this template (User:Schlurcher) does this on regular basis and this is his main activity there. So, I just started to follow his example, but he is doing this just randomly in irregular pattern and if his activity is OK, my is even better, because I am going to perform this in more systematic way. We need your help at the Wikiproject medicine

[edit]

Hello, On the behalf of the Wikiproject medicine at the en.wikipedia, I am inviting you to be a part of the discussion going on the project's talk page about Patient images, The discussion started after I obtained a permission to more than 23000 dermatology related images, and about 1500 radiology images. As some editors of the Wikiproject medicine have some concerns regarding the policy of using patient images on wikipedia, and regarding patient consents. And they believe that commons policy is not so clear regarding the subject. So since you are the experts please join us at this very important discussion -- MaenK.A.Talk 13:46, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Bastique, you contacted me in February 2007 regarding an e-mail from the International Committee of the Red Cross to the Wikimedia Foundation concerning the design of the Image:Flag of the ICRC.svg. I'm trying to preserve the design as requested by the ICRC (logo with acronym) but other users (User:Zscout370 and User:Allesmüller) keep on reverting to an alternate version (logo without acronym). User inquiry

[edit]

Hi Bastique, would you take the time to look into Commons:Village_pump#Dubious_ownership_details. It seems that someone just went through all uploads of another user. -- User:Docu at 20:09, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Was there an obvious dispute involved? Are you on my talk page to be sarcastic, or do you truly not understand the difference between disruptive behavior and constructive behavior? Bastique demandez 20:18, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if you read the initial comments by Cirt on the matter (from Cholo Aleman's talk page). They were such that the user came to seek help at COM:AN. They were hardly constructive, incorrect in terms of procedure, and seem to be formulated primarily to deter people from reviewing his contributions. People less persistent than Pieter probably got discouraged. Thus it would be interesting to know your general position on the question. -- User:Docu at 20:27, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Your second comment seems to have no bearing on your first comment. I don't even know what you're referring to here. Pieter was stalking ShakataGaNai's contributions after SGN left a warning on his talk page. He has done the same to me in the past, and apparently does this to a lot of people. This is recurring behavior on Commons, is disruptive, and as a community we need to say we don't accept this kind of thing. Bastique demandez 20:46, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Both are cases of user contribution reviews, one by Pieter Kuiper of Cirt's, another one by the user who posted it to the VP. Thus I'm interested to hear a more general comment on this.
ShakataGaNai's wheel warring didn't come from any consensus and, AFAIK, prior to the Cholo Aleman coming to COM:AN about another user, there was no incident between Pieter Kuiper and Cirt. Pieter took it upon him to do what Cirt failed to do and/or explain. If at the same time he reviewed all other of his uploads, I guess that's just no luck for Cirt. Still, as community, we shouldn't accept his approach with his critics. -- User:Docu at 21:29, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Permission by creator for use of his images

[edit]

Hello Cary. I sent an e-mail yesterday containing a creator's/copyright holder's permission for use of his images in Wikimedia (by using the standard template, although I had to translate it). Since you had cleared for the OTRS pictures I had uploaded in the past, I still had your name in my e-mail memory and I put yesterday's message to your attention. It was only a cautionary idea. The pictures in question are: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Dam_Lake_Ula_Turkey.jpg and http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Zihni_Derin_Street_Mugla_Turkey.jpg uploaded by me 24 March. Regards. (Addendum: Also, I think it would be a good idea to rename File:Mustafa Ertuğrul Meret Ovazov Antalya.jpg. The file name leaves the impression of containing the creator's name but there is no such name as "Meret". It is a vulgar adjective which means "damn person, damn thing, bastard etc." [1]. A joker named it probably.) Cretanforever (talk) 05:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bastique. I saw your work on the new Chinese Wikipedia logo, it's a wonderful job, but I think there are somethings could be better.

 1. You could choose WenQuanYi Zen Hei for Chinese logo, it looks better than the awful MingLiU and is supported by Wikimedia's servers (see meta:SVG fonts).
 2. In Chinese Wikipedia, we used "自由的百科全书"/"自由的百科全書", not "自由百科全书"/"自由百科全書".
 3. By the way, Chinese Wikipedia has used two images to depict its logo. So could you create a File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-zh-hans.svg for us? Or could I do it myself despite this is an affair of Foundation? --PhiLiP (talk) 05:15, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
PhiLiP, I don't know what happened, it was supposed to be AR PL UMing, which is on that list. Ouch! Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 16:01, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Why not use WenQuanYi Zen Hei? --PhiLiP (talk) 06:49, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The problem I have with WenQuanYi Zen Hei is that the strokes are all single-thickness. As you can see on the English project, Linux Libertine is a serif font (no analog in Chinese) with variable width strokes. WenQuanYi Zen Hei is like Arial or Sans in that regard. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 20:45, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's nice that AR PL UMing is a free font, but the strokes are just too thin and this font doesn't go along with the English Linux Libertine. Does AR PL UMing have a thicker version? Meanwhile, I made a new version using a non-free font Kozuka Mincho (The reason I chose this font is that I don't have many fonts on my computer and this is the only "serif" or Ming/Song type font I have that allow different stroke weights.) It's sad that the Chinese-speaking population account for nearly 1/3 of world population yet suitable free fonts are so scarce. (Someone said creativity and inventions are possible and sustainable only in free countries, not communist or socialistic ones.) Any way, here is a comparison of these logos:

--roc (talk) 22:29, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree Kozura Mincho looks the best here. Sadly it is not a free font. We might have to temporarily go with an unwelcome single-stroke font like "WenQuanYi Zen Hei" until someone develops a suitable free alternative to Kozura Mincho. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 16:06, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
R.O.C, I've updated with the new globe version and your Kazura Mincho text. If you could make the Chinese Simplified logo as well, I will be grateful! Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 18:22, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Bastique! Now it looks much better. I asked people at the Chinese Village Pump and no one knows any other free Chinese fonts except for WenQuanYi which is a sans-serif font. (Really pathetic for the proud Chinese civilization...) No one either suggested any non-free Chinese font that can be obtained freely. This Kozura Mincho is a Japanese font, but it's included in the Adobe CS5 trial version that any one can get. Two more issues:
 • Simplified Chinese version: Personally, I support that Chinese Wikipedia uses only one version of the logo, with traditional Chinese characters used in both the logo mark and logotype. Reasons: 1) there's only one Chinese Wikipedia; 2) Chinese Wikipedia is a global project with a global brand; traditional Chinese characters and marks are acceptable in mainland China and remain mainstream in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and overseas, but simplified Chinese are looked down in Taiwan and other areas because of its ugliness and degenerateness. Also, unfortunately this Kozura Mincho font doesn't support simplified Chinese characters.
 • Font size: small caps are used in latin letter based logotypes, however, this is not applicable to Chinese or Korean scripts. So I think for a more balanced view in Chinese and Korean logos (especially if in future, different local logos are shown consecutively in a promotional video or animation), the font size for the Chinese or Korean "Wikipedia" title should be reduced. This will also give more breathing space between the logotype and the mark. --roc (talk) 21:49, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Eek! No, that font is bold, and stylised, nothing like the Latin elegant and serif font Libertine. Does georgian text have a font with serifs? It should also have a variable stroke weight like the Linux Libertine font. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 15:55, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've made some changes in File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-el.svg. In fact I made different versions with the following changes: ΒΙΚΙΠΑΙΔΕΙΑ with the acute in lower position. ΒΙΚΙΠΑΙΔΕΙΑ without the acute above "Ι" (I know the previous logo did have it, but it's not useful anymore. Generally in greek we do not use acutes in capital letters.) The tagline in non-italicized 12pt typeface with narrow spacing (to fit). I suggest the last version to be used, but we can also ask the community about that acute. --Geraki TLG 09:22, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That version looks fine. The only reason I would mention the acute be there is that the letters are actually lowercase in a smallcaps font, not capitalized. Which would imply that the í contain an accent. I'm not sure if people can appreciate the distinction between smallcap and CAPITALIZED (ΒικιπαίδειΑ versus ΒΙΚΙΠΑΙΔΕΙΑ) Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 16:35, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

PNG-24 and transparency issues in IE6

[edit]

I wanted to let you know that the PNG-24 version of File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-en.png is not transparent in Internet Explorer 6. I believe that if you save the image as PNG-8, it will restore transparency. This is due to a bug in Internet Explorer, see http://schoberg.net/2009/07/degradable-png-transparency-for-ie6/].--Svgalbertian (talk) 17:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just let you know that I found an alternate solution that will solve the issue for most IE6 users. I have tweeked the image so that the default background color (when transparecy fails) matches the default skin. The resulting image is at File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-en-(background fix).png waiting for someone with the proper premissions to upload it. This does not solve the issue for people using a non-default skin, so I will let you decide if you want to reduce the image to PNG-8 for greater compatiblity.--Svgalbertian (talk) 19:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Can you make the word "bebas" into "Bebas" (in File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-id.svg (and File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-id.png)) since in the English Wikipedia logo it is "The Free Encyclopedia" (not "The free encyclopedia") Thanks.... ...Kenrick95 07:43, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I have got a better version of Russian Wikipedia logo. I draw it in Photoshop by the instructions from here: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Wikimedia_official_marks/Word_mark_creation

No, it is supposed to be Italic. Cyrillic logos will be using Italic on the second line. I see it appears I said non-italic. This is different from the Latin script logos which do not use Italic. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 18:38, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You're wrong because official instructions said that latin, cyrillic and greek uses Linux Libertine as well. This font includes these characters, isn't it unlogical to use different font? See here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia/2.0

Open-source fonts used in the logo:

Latin: Linux Libertine O Cyrillic: Linux Libertine O

--Orange-kun (talk) 18:52, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, listen, I read instruction how to create localised version of logo. There's no one word about using italic on the second line. What is a special in cyrillic wikipedias to force them to use italic there?? Latin, Cyrillic and Greek are the same and supported by Linux Libertine, so we want the same logo with English version. Or it looks like discrimination. Why it is supposed to use italic on the second line? Japan and Chinese logos v.2. are too not uses italic font. We want regular logo as it was in v.1 That time we had 1:1 fonts compared Russian and English, we want this time the same.--Orange-kun (talk) 19:18, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

the font *is* Linux Libertine O. The latin logos would be in italics on the second line if the Latin italics were legible. Unfortunately, they are not. The Cyrillic italics are actually legible, and look better in italics. I'm not sure why it wasn't included in the logo guidelines but it was always understood when we roll out the logo. The Cyrillic text, on the other hand, looks quite a bit better using Italics, the way the original logo was supposed to look.
Another thing, please don't come to my talk page using words like "discrimination" when discussing a thing like typeface. Conversations like that generally get removed from my talk page. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 21:13, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I see the size of the SMALLCAPS text is not ideal. I'm not sure why the designer actually did it that way, and I'll leave it to him to explain; nor why the explanation of why italics is used for Cyrillic text on the second line was omitted on the pages. The other logos done in Cyrillic (See Bulgarian for instance) were done with the same size. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 21:23, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if I was unpolite, I'll ask another administrator this case. Bye.--Orange-kun (talk) 21:50, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear Mr. Bass, I am addressing you the following in your capacity of both steward of Wikicommons and member of the OTRS team, regarding some disagreements I have regarding some of my contributions and how they are handled.

1. As an introduction, I would like to state that I consider that the Wikipedia system should not have the competence to make laws (which is the role of Congress – or of the legislative bodies in other countries) or to decide how laws have to be interpreted (which is the role of Courts who create jurisprudence). This does not preclude the right of Wikipedia to establish its own rules and regulations, however these should not contradict or conflict with the provisions of the legal system. In the discussions I had regarding my contributions, some of my input has been deleted, some is being proposed for deletion even though I have indicated that mz uploads comply with the prevailing legal provisions.

2. A first case I want to bring to your attention is the case of image Anna_Timiriova_1954.jpg which was deleted. The image is a photograph of Anna Timiriova taken by the KGB office of Yenissey province of the Soviet Union when she was released from detention and which was included in her KGB file. I have indicated that According to paragraph 1259 article 6 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation ("ГРАЖДАНСКИЙ КОДЕКС РОССИЙСКОЙ ФЕДЕРАЦИИ" (ГК РФ) Часть 4 от 18.12.2006 N 230-ФЗ) official documents and other materials of administrative and judicial character are not subject to copyright laws. The files of detainees and the release orders of detainees are documents of administrative and judicial character and therefore are not subject to copyright in the Russian Federation. However, though this was shown, the file was deleted by Martin H. who had a different opinion. I requested the undeletion of the file, which is on the undeletion list since April 21, 2010, without any decision being taken. I fail to understand why, if a contribution is done taking into account the relevant legislation, these provisions are voided by a wikicommons administrator. Martin H. seems to have a different view on the issue if, in Russia, a police document is an official document. I requested that the problem be referred to a Russian speaking person with legal background who might be able to check if some nuances have been lost in the translation. Anyway, I find it strange that no decision has been taken on the undeletion request for over 2 months, though nobody has objected to the undeletion.

3. I am raising the problem of the Image Cloaca Maxima which I have uploaded in November 2006. It was accepted by ORTS at the time. Now Pieter Kuiper requests the file to be deleted, because it does not comply with present rules, which have been changed after the file was uploaded and the accepted. Now administrator Nillerdk has tagged the file for deletion, because it does not comply to the present rules.

A wikipedian has suggested that I contact the author, which I did. Unfortunately his e-mail in Argentina (indicated in the site where the image was posted) does not work anymore. The image is available on numerous other sites and I have contacted one site in France and another one in Italy requesting them to put me in contact with the author. The French did not respond, but I am still discussing the issue with the Italians. This is just to show you, that I do not take the issues easily and try to comply to the rules and suggestions.

However I am extremely disturbed by the deletion tag. The picture was uploaded in good faith and accepted in compliance with the rules in place at that time. After this, at some later date, the rules have been made stricter. The change of regulations should be applicable only for the future and should not have any type of retroactive effect. There are no cases when rules can be changed during the game or when legislation has a retroactive effect.

If I play the Virginia Lottery Powerball, I can win $4 if I guess only the Powerball number and none of the others. Of course, Virginia Lottery can change the rule and decide that guessing a single number is not acceptable any more for a win. But this cannot be done after the ticket for a particular draw has been sold. And even if the rule changes for the next draw, it does not affect in any way my rights to the prize. There is no game where rules can be changed during the game.

No laws and regulations have retroactive effect. There are building codes which change in time. New buildings have to comply to the new codes. But nobody ever says that existing buildings have to be torn down and reconstructed according to the new rules. I could go on with such examples. And even if new legislation were passed approving the death penalty for uploading a certain picture on Wikipedia, I cannot legally be convicted and sentenced to death if I uploaded the picture before the legislation was signed.

Whatever the reasons behind the change in Wikicommons rules, it is against any legal principle to apply them retroactively, the way Pieter Kuiper requests it. And accepting the principle of retroactivity is extremely dangerous. Wikipedia should be around for a long time and should be dynamic. It should continuously improve and new regulations are bound to be implemented. But it is not acceptable to review everything which has been done in the past, each time a new regulation is enacted. What should be discussed first is the principle of non-retroactivity of regulations, but his is not done in the discussion.

It should be taken into account that this is not the case of an error which has been done – for instance presenting an incorrect information on which the decision has been based. Errors should be corrected but within the provisions of the regulation in force at the moment when the upload was authorized.

4. I am not getting to the issue of maps, which have recently been the object of various discussions. Again I want first to present the legal issue.

Maps are subject to copyright, which is valid 70 years. The issue is what does the copyright cover. This has been the object of a long litigation in US courts and a verdict has been given. The court has decided, among others, that geographic and topographic data from maps are facts and that facts cannot be the object of copyright. It is only the presentation of the map which is the object of copyright. Thus if the same data are drawn differently this is not an infringement of copyright. While some users consider this verdict as being too lax, it is being applied in the US for over 15 years.

This jurisprudence, specifying what is covered by copyright, does not exist in most European countries, but it can also be found in German legislation. Unfortunately I am not a legal expert and am not able to check if similar cases have come before courts of other European countries.

As the copyright provisions have been found to be too lax, the European Union has introduced the database right – which is valid for all EU countries. German courts have decided that a map contains information presented in a certain order and thus is subject to the database right. However the database right has, according to European law, a validity of only 15 years, and older maps are not protected any more by this right.

I have prepared maps which do take information from various sources, such as satellite pictures or maps which are either copyright free, to which I own the copyright. I have also used maps whose database right has expired or information from American or other maps, using the information which is not covered by copyright. Some wikipedians, such as Pieter Kuiper have requested the maps to be deleted. Nobody has discussed the issue that the geographic information is not copyrighted (at least in the United States) and that in Europe the database right is valid only for 15 years. Actually all discussions have avoided the database right.

I would like to have a discussion on the legal issues and to what is legally acceptable or not. But having decisions on mz contributions taken on other arguments and ignoring the legal provisions is incorrect. It does not make sense to vote if a legal provision should be applied or not.

I would therefore request your advice on how the matter can be solved in principle, without accusations that I am lying, that I am copying maps etc. or that I am doing other type of mischief. And, returning to my initial statement, I would like to find a way in which we apply the existing legislation and do not invent new laws, especially if they conflict with the ones which are applied in the world outside Wikipedia.

Sincerely

Hello, Bastique!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Masri Wikipedia

[edit]

Would you please, at least, try to write the word مصرى in that logo File:Wikipedia-logo-v2-arz.png. So that it would become

because some users mistaken Masri Wikipedia with Arabic Wikipedia. Thanks.

Several suggestions about more clean logos

[edit]

We see that English version of logo more sharper in comparing with others. Others are smoothed as a result of just copy-paste from SVG-versions (seems like only English PNG was additionally computed). I'd like to fix that. Here are my variants. Please take a look and probably update appropriate files.

Lang Current version Proposed my version
EN Current Current version perfect
and its wordmark used
as basis in my versions
DE Current Proposed (more clear)
FR Current Proposed (more clear)
ES Current Proposed (more clear)
PT Current Proposed (more clear)
IT Current Proposed (more clear)

Here's an example of smoothed English logo. It comes right from SVG:

unclear lines looks abominable, isn't it? But in PNG version it fixed. Why not do the same with others? This is what I have suggested.--Orange-kun (talk) 05:21, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bastique,

I was surprised to understand that, in spite of having such logos proposed for Persian Wikipedia as File:Wikipedia_in_Arabic_script_languages_in_KACST_Office.svg or even File:Wikipedia_in_Arabic_script_languages_in_Amiri.svg, the one currently in use has been chosen. Current logo has a curvature in the connection of its third and fourth letters, which is seldom present in Persian fonts or in Persian handwriting.

User:Mardetanha tried to give me a heads up about why that logo was chosen (temporarily), but I'm still confused. I would like to know the procedure for proposing the logo to be changed again.

Huji, see discussion at Talk:Wikipedia/2.0#Arabic-Persian_script_logos. I want to use Amira, but can't do it myself. Khaled seems to be working on it. Bastique ☎ appelez-moi! 22:33, 30 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. About that, I need to remind you that دانشنامه‌ی آزاد is the wrong dictation per Fa WP writings standards. It should be written as داشنامهٔ آزاد and I'm sure you've heard of this before. It won't be a bad idea to ask one senior Fa WP member to get a confirmation to the final version of logo, before using it in the wiki itself. I, en:User:Behaafarid and en:User:Mardetanha among others will always be happy to reply to you over email or on our Fa WP talk pages. Huji (talk) 12:39, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice about he:wiki

[edit]

It's another notice about he:wiki - within which I'm an editor and article writer,

we messaged you and the other available mail-adresses of wikimedia/pedia functionals a while ago, and the case has shown no change - and is an urgent matter now more than before, as our common project is undergoing its worst mass-vandalization period & is under severe threat of the very same pattern of vast troll and hacking activity responsible for the vandalization and deletion of an insane amount of legitimate pages every day and harming users' permissions, now more intensively than ever.

A while since letters have been sent to the project's superiors and founders and no move has been taken, and as we stand in the middle of the strait as people who worry much for the Hebrew Wikipedia fate – it's time that each of us ask oneself "What Have I Done for Hebrew Wiki", and what can be done further now. Nearly all edits executed across the project's pages and almost all new articles created and released ARE VANDALISED, OR SIMPLY DISAPPEARING AND USER PERMISSIONS ARE BLOCKED; It's been made perfectly clear still when I was mailing you at that time that there is someone (or some fellows) clearly wishing to demolish the Hebrew wiki and they hold some technical abilities that you and I don't possess and above all although they - or he - show decisiveness to damage all our labour, as I edit every day, the majority of the editors seem totally not to care. No admins. No rules; no framework in which to settle one's will & urge to protect the collaborative database and defend our Wikipedia, for more than a year and a half now. Israeli ISP companies have continuedly received deceitful calls from persons pretending to come from within Wikipedia convincing them to revoke individual clients' service frames through threats of large range blocks. - Indeed, consistency and firmness are attributes common to both us legitimate editors & gnomes - and those dedicated to undermine the Wiki-values and destroy what we all do-and-have-done together.

Wikipedia is far too dear to many to let go of that matter, the Hebrew edition has millions of readers daily & the goal of expanding its league of contributors and writers, where I'm personally an active lobbyist, cannot but fail when the good and committed editors face trolls' behavior and patterns on the project's pages again and again, in almost all reach and fields.

Please see yourself committed as well. It's time to go deep into this "interior-Israeli" saga. Countless examples are recorded daily - of fine articles vanishing, back-edited or being "locked", as well as other sorts of hacking committed upon users and data in the He:Wiki.

Thanks,

Map of Chapters

[edit]

Hi Cary! I saw that you just updated the map of chapters just about a fortnight ago, yet could you make one more update: Estonia has been approved on the 31 August, and as they have been founded previously they should be dark blue with the rest of the chapters.

Thanks and have a nice day, --Dami (talk) 22:06, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure that Cary's still pretty busy in real life at the moment, so I went ahead and updated the two images (File:Wikimedia chapters existing.svg and File:Wikimedia chapters.svg). It's actually pretty easy to do, all you do is download the .svg files and edit it with a text editor... just add the country code to the relevant section, et voilà. ;-) Cbrown1023 talk 22:26, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
