Metadata fix
[edit]Hi David, some of your uploads generate parsing errors in {{Artwork}} template. It has something to do with the whitespaces before the date and the permission parameter. I manually did this exemplary change to fix it.[1] Maybe you know where this comes from and you could avoid this problem for future uploads. Thank you for your cooperation, --Arnd (talk) 08:03, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
Hi, @Aschroet: , thanks for your concern. I think the problem is now fixed. I have another question : Could anybody here extend the upload limit set on my account ? I have to upload 3775 pictures and but I'm limited to 380. David Benoist (BIU Sante) (talk) 10:46, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- What do mean with upload limit? Where can i see it? --Arnd (talk) 13:19, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- Well, @Aschroet: , when I try to upload more than 380 pictures at once with the ComeOn! tool, I get the message "comeon.mediawiki.FailedUploadException: ratelimited: You've exceeded your rate limit. Please wait some time and try again". And then I have to wait at least one hour before I resume. I've sent a mail to the developper of ComeOn!. He answered it's a limitation on wikimedia account-side. He's going to handle this, I think, but it could take a while. So I was wondering if someone could help me with this issue, to speed up the process. I don't know where the limit can be seen. I've taken note of it after trials and errors. David Benoist (BIU Sante) (talk) 13:46, 23 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hi Benoit, seems that the tool sends too many upload requests in parallel. As i understand the limit cannot be set for certain users, it is fix. Couldn't you please ask at Commons talk:ComeOn!. They should know the answer. Regards, --Arnd (talk) 20:22, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
- Hi @Aschroet: .ComeOn! limits to two simultaneous connections, in compliance with HTTP 1.1 RFC. AFAIK, there is some rate limiting set in Commons for most users around a few hundreds uploads per hour. It is a limit I have already hit with large uploads but never with small batches (a few to tens of files): this is why I find a simultaneous connections limit unlikely. --EdouardHue (talk) 21:08, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
- EdouardHue, agreed. When looking at the wgRateLimits it is clear that you are only allowed to upload 8 files per minute resp. 480 files per hour. ComeOn! should consider this or we could ask to increase these limits. But there may be serious reasons for setting them to their current value. --Arnd (talk) 06:56, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

- Thanks to both of you, @Aschroet: , @EdouardHue: , for your answers. It's now a bit clearer for me. I keep uploading my files 300 by 300. But for a larger collection, it would be a pain ! ^^ Have a nice day ! David Benoist (BIU Sante) (talk) 09:28, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
Copyright status: File:Professeur Boinet CIPH0142.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Professeur Boinet CIPH0142.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

- @Magog the Ogre: Hello, Magog the Ogre ! I will re-upload this file in order to solve this issue. But before I do, could you tell me a way to identify such problems in the files belonging to Category:Media_contributed_by_the_Bibliothèque_interuniversitaire_de_santé ? It would be nice, because I can't figure by myself a way to ensure these files are OK. Thanks by advance for your answer ! David Benoist (BIU Sante) (talk) 13:26, 27 June 2017 (UTC)
- It seems to be a bug in the Mediawiki software. Maybe try throttling the tool you're using? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 01:50, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for your answer, Magog the Ogre. I can't easily change this kind of parameter. However, if this file is the only one that is problematic, I will correct it by hands. David Benoist (BIU Sante) (talk) 09:25, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
- I've just added a description (including license informations) and some categories to the page. Should I delete by myself the templates "No license" and "Uncategorized". I'm new on Wikimedia, so I don't know what is usual ? David Benoist (BIU Sante) (talk) 10:09, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
- It happens from time to time. I've only ever seen a couple per day at most, and only from mass uploaders. I suggest editing by hand. Yes, please remove the no license and uncategorized tag once you have addressed these issues. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs)
- It's done ! I think the page is ok, now. Thank you for your concern, Magog the Ogre ! David Benoist (BIU Sante) (talk) 13:13, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Bonjour, pourriez-vous ré-uploader cette image ? Il semble qu'il y ait un léger soucis si l'on compare avec l'originale. Merci par avance. Cordialement Rhadamante (talk) 23:18, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
There are bunch of errors in Wikicode of File:Le docteur Calmette tenant le microscope qui lui sert à étudier l'Enn CIPA0672.jpg and File:Le retour de Mme Stoessel. A bord de l' Australien CIPB1311.jpg. Can you fix information about authors, etc.? --Jarekt (talk) 15:09, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
