Hallo Tesla, ich bin froh, dass Du meine Anmerkungen als „konstruktives Feedback“ siehst und nicht als Herummeckerei (das kommt auf der QI-Seite auch vor ;–).

Ja, als erstes würde ich den Maskieren-Regler ausprobieren, ob er ausreicht, um den Himmel weicher zu bekommen, ohne dass die scharfen Teile zu wenig geschärft werden.

Tatsächlich ist bei Deinen drei Bildern (Luberon Le Désert Blanc.jpg usw.) das Ergebnis gut, ich habe die Bilder gerade “promoted” und hoffe, dass niemand Einwände hat.

In komplizierten Fällen, falls das Ergebnis noch nicht zufriedenstellen ist, belasse ich die Scharfzeichen-Einstellungen auf niedrigen Werten und arbeite mit lokalen Korrekturen. Das heißt, ich male mit dem Korrekturpinsel eine oder zwei Masken über das Bild – eine über die zu schärfenden Teile, mit der dann diese Teile des Bildes scharfgezeichnet werden, und wenn nötig eine andere über den Himmel sowie andere unscharfe Partien, um auf diese Teile lokal die Rauschreduzierung anzuwenden. Dabei ist es wichtig, eine weiche Pinseleinstellung zu wählen, damit die Übergänge nicht auffallen. (Wie das genau geht und wie die Einstellungen dafür genau heißen, hängt von der Photoshop/Lightroom-Version ab, daher kann ich Dir das nur ungefähr beschreiben.)

Übrigens vielen Dank für Deine Fotos aus dem “Colorado” (wie die Ockerbrüche bei Rustrel zumindest früher genannt wurden)! Ich war in den 1990er-Jahren mal dort und ganz begeistert, habe aber keine (guten) Fotos. Auch die bisher hier auf Commons vorhandenen Fotos sind großteils nicht so toll. Daher finde ich es super, dass Du gute Aufnahmen dieser fantastischen Lokalität beisteuerst …

There are many online resources on this, but not all of them are good, and it would make sense to write the explanation with respect to some of the kind of photographs you (and me) use to contribute to Commons. Next Commons Photographers meeting featuring large format photographer Ben Horne

Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

Our first external guest, Ben Horne, will talk about large format wilderness photography, followed by a question-and-answer session. Ben is maybe one of best known contemporary large format photographers in the United States. On his excursions to national parks, he shoots 8×10 film and talks about his adventures on his YouTube channel which has attracted more than 48,000 followers so far. He is YouTube's first, and longest active landscape photography vlogger and I'm thrilled that he has agreed to join our next meeting and talk about his experiences.

Contrast

Hi! I'm taking you up on your very kind offer of helping me check contrast. Photoshop and Lightroom have some auto-functions for this and they are a good start, but I know from experience that they tend to overdo things a bit. When you have the time, could you take a look at three versions of two photos. No 1 of each is the finished editing except for contrast. No 2 is the contrast that Photoshop thinks is ok. No 3 is my own guess. If you could lend me your input on this, it would give me good pointers on how to edit now. Many thanks, --Cart (talk) 11:05, 23 February 2021 (UTC)

Hello Cart, I agree with you on the “auto” function of Photoshop/Lightroom – it provides a good starting point, but often exaggerates the adjustments. Your two images are an interesting example: in both cases all three variants look good at the first glance, especially if viewed separately – IMHO this means that which these pictures the contrast seems to be partially a matter of taste. If I compare the three variants at full size, the differences become more obvious:

I. For picture I, variant 3 (your guess) looks best to me; the second best would be variant 1 (without changes), variant 2 (Photoshop’s proposal) is a bit overdone.

II. For picture II, it is difficult to decide whether variant 2 or 3 is the best (variant 1 is clearly worse). Of course in variant 2 the highlights at the protruding part of the ice in the foreground and on the crack are a bit too bright – these parts look much better in variant 3. But the overall impression of variant 2 is a little bit better, even when viewed in full size, because the midtones are a bit brighter and the whole image looks “clearer”. (This is a problem I also sometimes face in my photos: overall more contrast looks better, but the highlights look better with lower contrast.) If you want a simple solution, I would go with variant 3, it is definitely really good. If you want an even better result, I would try to use the contrast of variant 2, but locally dial down (in the RAW converter) the highlights a bit on the protruding part of the ice in the foreground and on the crack.

Thank You!! This is perfect, just the kind of feedback I could dream of. :-) I often select different contrasts for different part of a photo and you comments makes it easy for me to proceed. I'm thinking about maybe nominating the first photo at FPC, the second one has too much unsharp parts fore the taste of the community, now that focus stacks are preferred. I think it also has some EV since it clearly shows what happens to the ice when water level in the fjord is lowered. The soundscape of the fjord at such times is rather remarkable. It's known as the ice "signing", but it's more like cracking, banging, zinging and rumbling. The cliffs around the fjord amplifies and echoes the sound. Yes, I would consider the first photo as a promising FP nomination – the 2nd one is very good, too, but also a bit more complicated, while the 1st one is of splendid simplicity. And both are valuable, of course, they really make visible what happens to the ice. Here you go: [1] [2] :-) Most of the ice recordings on YouTube are from large lakes, the sound is similar, but the acoustics are a little different on a fjord, plus the tide makes it crack more. Thank you very much, Cart! Everyday I learn again how little I know about the world I live in ;–). This kind of sounds is totally new to me (here in southern Germany it’s rare nowadays that even a little lake freezes over so solid that you can walk on it, so there is almost no chance for the ice to sing). But as I see I could have learnt about it on YouTube; obviously I should explore YouTube more for such documentary stuff, I have underestimated the benefit of YouTube. Thanks, yes I will call on you again the next time I feel unsure about a photo. :-) This first feedback was very helpful for a lot of the ice and snow photos I have now, but soon spring will come with new challenges. I have started to turn to YouTube for a lot of searches these days. It was a long time since it was just for music and silly pranks. Competent people with things to share are making a lot of videos, tutorials and short documentaries now. You just need to get your search words right. Eyes needed

Hello again! When you have the time, could I please ask you to take a look at one of the photos in a series I'm editing: link to my dropbox. The A photo is closest to what the light was that day, low and rather weak sun, but I'm worried it might look too dark. The C option is what I would like, but I can't tell if the details on the white doors will get lost since I really can't see them. No rush whatsoever, when and if you have the time. Hello Cart, this is again a very beautiful photo! And the answer is … difficult. ;–) All three versions look great when viewed on their own, and even when viewed in comparison all three have their merits. If people only look at a small thumbnail, they will very probably prefer the brightest version (C). But in full size that version looks in my eyes a little bit überstrahlt (I cannot find the English word; its means more or less that the brightest tones become indistinguishable). On the door and windows of the leftmost shed details almost disappear because they are so bright. I have to confess that in such a case I am uncertain also with my own photos and check the histogram, just as you may do …

If this was my photo I would go with version (B). But I would not be surprised if on the FPC page some regulars would suggest to make the photo even brighter (like in variant C) and others may find it too bright (and therefore would prefer version A). In cases like this there is probably not the solution. But again, IMHO (B) is the best compromise. All the best, --Aristeas (talk) 15:50, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

Thank you! This is quite a favor you are doing me. :-) Very valuable advice indeed. I think I will upload A first as a reference for how the light was and then plant B on top of it. That way people can compare. I completely agree with the überstrahlt for C, I just thought it was my eyes making it seem too bright. I look at some FPCs at the moment and to me they are way too bright, but no one has commented on it, so I guess it's just my eyes. Don't worry about using German words, I can't say I speak it other than making me understood for life's necessities, but I understand it quite well even if I usually have to read the words out loud to myself for better understanding (not sure that makes any sense...). Hearing is easier than seeing the words, my grandfather was from Frankfurt so my mother was bilingual. Again, thank you, --Cart (talk) 16:19, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

Sony α7R IV

61 MP Vollformat… nicht schlecht! Wie sieht es aus – bist Du soweit mit der Anschaffung zufrieden? (ich hadere ja noch ein wenig damit, dass meine 7C kein GPS hat und die Bereitstellung von Geokoordinaten per iPhone immer wieder ausfällt). Hallo Frank, wahrscheinlich kann ich das erst in ein paar Monaten definitiv sagen, da ich im Moment kaum dazu komme, ‚richtige‘ Fotos zu machen. Die α7R IV kam auch für mich überraschend. Eigentlich war ich mit der α7R II in Sachen Bildqualität sehr zufrieden; ich wollte eher in noch bessere Objektive investieren. Dann hat Sony aber die α1 angekündigt, und plötzlich gab es im deutschsprachigen SonyUserforum eine ganze Reihe junger gebrauchter α7R IV günstig zu kaufen, von Leuten, die zur α1 wechseln wollen. Dieser Gelegenheit konnte ich nicht widerstehen … ;–)

Soweit ich das bisher sagen kann, schildert dieser Artikel die praktischen Vorteile der α7R IV am besten. Tatsächlich ist insbesondere der hochauflösende Sucher wirklich großartig, er macht das manuelle Scharfstellen viel angenehmer und exakter. Da ich fast immer manuell scharfstelle, hat sich die α7R IV für mich schon deshalb gelohnt. Auch die Ergonomie finde ich angenehm und verstehe, ehrlich gesagt, nicht, was die Sony-Basher in den Foto-Foren sooo schrecklich daran finden – spätestens mit der α7R IV ist die Ergonomie wirklich gut, außer für Leute mit sehr großen Händen (wobei meine auch nicht gerade klein sind). Der Autofokus ist beeindruckend gut – was für mich aber eben keine so große Rolle spielt. Deine 7C dürfe beim AF sogar noch besser sein.

Bleibt die Frage, ob 61 MP „Segen oder Fluch?“ sind, wie das irgendeine Fotozeitschrift mal formuliert hat. Ein Fluch sind sie sicher nicht. Kein Objektiv wird mit der höheren Auflösung schlechter, die Objektive skalieren nur eben unterschiedlich gut, sodass viele Schwächen eines Objektives, v.a. Schärfe-Randabfall und CAs, bei 1:1-Betrachtung einfach umso sichtbarer werden, je höher die Auflösung ist. Für die meisten Anwendungen ist das aber egal, da die Bilder für die Ausgabe ja heruntergerechnet werden – und wenn man dieselbe Aufnahme mit demselben Objektiv einmal bei 24 MP, einmal bei 42 MP und einmal bei 61 MP macht und dann alle drei auf 12 oder auch 24 MP herunterrechnet, ist das aus den 61 MP erstellte Bild zumindest tlw. deutlich besser als die anderen, sogar wenn nur ein eher einfaches Objektiv verwendet wurde. (Ja, ich hab’s ausprobiert und nicht nur abgeschrieben. ;–)

Allerdings haben wir hier auf Commons ja die Eigenheit, dass wir die volle Auflösung der Bilder wünschen und diese oft 1:1 beurteilen, und daher weiß ich, dass ich jetzt eher noch genauer scharfstellen muss, dass auch das leichteste Verwackeln sichtbar wird, dass die (wegen der hohen Auflösung schneller sichtbar werdende) Diffraktion schon ab f/8, erst recht bei f/11 ein Problem werden kann und dass auch das Rauschen, das durch den geringeren pixel pitch schneller einsetzt, mehr Nacharbeit erfordern kann. Wobei das natürlich alles Klagen auf sehr hohem Niveau sind – der pixel pitch entspricht ja dem eines (sehr guten) APS-C-Sensors mit 26 MP, das ist also nicht extrem. Aber aus diesen Gründen – ich muss das Verhalten der Objektive in der Praxis ausprobieren und schauen, wie es mit dem Entrauschen am besten klappt – kann ich erst in einige Zeit sagen, ob die α7R IV rundum eine super Entscheidung war oder ob sie auch Probleme mit sich bringt. Vielleicht müssen auch tlw. neue Objektive her – meine Frau ist davon allerdings nicht begeistert, sie hält (mit guten Gründen) ein neues (E-)Auto für wichtiger. ;–)

Zur 7C: Ja, dass es kein internes GPS gibt, ist bei all diesen Kameras schade; hier auf Commons haben wir ja sehr gerne Geokoordinaten, und auch sonst sind sie für Landschafts- usw. -fotografie sehr nützlich. Ich habe mir mal erklären lassen, dass internes GPS in Kameras (im Ggs. etwa zu Smartphones) nicht so toll funktioniere, weil man die Kameras dauern an- und ausschalte, der Verbindungsaufbau mit den Satelliten aber dauere, zumal man mehrere Satelliten braucht, sodass erst nach einiger Zeit eine zuverlässiges GPS-Angabe möglich sei – dann ist das Foto aber schon gemacht. Gut, dafür gäbe es wohl Lösungen, etwa eine Option, den GPS-Receiver auch bei abgeschalteter Kamera weiterlaufen zu lassen (aber hat das irgendeine Kamera?). Dass aber auch die Bereitstellung von Geokoordinaten per iPhone immer wieder ausfällt, wie Du schreibst, ist natürlich wirklich blöd – das sollte schon funktionieren. Für die α1 und noch mehr für die FX3 setzt Sony ja stark auf eine Bedienung mit einem ihrer Smartphones; vielleicht führt das dazu, dass Sony in Sachen Smartphone-Konnektivität nachbessert und ein Firmware-Update auch für die 7C bringt … man darf mal hoffen ;–).

Ganz herzlichen Dank für den ersten Erfahrungsbericht. Ich kaufe schon seit Jahren die meisten Teile meiner Fotoausrüstung gebraucht. Vor neun Jahren hab ich ein hochwertiges Stativ für einen äußerst geringen Preis im Internet gekauft. Das benutze ich bis zum heutigen Tag. Was das GPS angeht, so hoffe ich tatsächlich, dass Sony bald ein Firmware-Update herausbringt. Denn ansonsten bin ich mit der 7C recht zufrieden. Ich trage sie fast täglich mit mir herum, wenngleich ich sie ja eigentlich für meine Wanderung auf dem Pacific Crest Trail gekauft habe. Sobald der Schnee in den Bergen hier etwas geschmolzen ist, werde ich sie dann mit in die Wildnis nehmen. Vielleicht kann ich dabei ja auch ein wenig filmen. Mit der Videoleistung bin ich nämlich sehr zufrieden. Und der ausklappbare LCD-Bildschirm hilft in solchen Fällen natürlich auch. – Also, nochmals vielen Dank für deinen Bericht. Dabei können unter anderem Nationalparks, Naturschutzgebiete, Geotope und Naturdenkmäler fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Wie du bei den Top 5 des vergangenen Jahres siehst, sind vor allem Tiere unter den Siegerbildern. Aus diesem Grund setzen wir den Fokus dieses Jahr stärker auf Landschaftsaufnahmen. Aber natürlich haben auch Tierbilder eine Chance zu gewinnen.

Es sind wie immer viele spannende Motive überall in Deutschland zu finden. Neben Naturdenkmälern wie alten Bäumen oder Naturparks im Gebirge und am Meer können Geotope wie Findlinge, Quellen und Aufschlüsse oder FFH-Gebiete fotografiert werden, um sie unter anderem in der Wikipedia zu dokumentieren. Auch im vergangenen Jahr sind zahlreiche neue Listen und Artikel in diesen Bereichen entstanden, für die wir uns über Fotos freuen. Als Einstieg für die Suche nach Motiven hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du bei WLE 2021 - Deutschland und unter dieser Anleitung. Falls du im Moment nicht wie sonst in die Natur fahren kannst, findest du vielleicht in den Tiefen deiner Festplatte oder auf dem Smartphone noch interessante Fotos.

Du bist interessiert, am Wettbewerb mitzuwirken, dir fehlt aber die richtige Technik? Dann wirf doch mal einen Blick in den Technikpool und das Technikleihportal von Wikimedia Deutschland! Dort findest du Kameras, Objektive und Zubehör verschiedenster Art.

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, vom 1. Mai bis 30. Juni 2021 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Damit bewertest du die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelst so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Juli tagen wird, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Earth 2021 in Deutschland. Mir ist dabei aber aufgefallen, dass das ein ziemlich altes Foto von mir ist. Leider habe ich kein neueres in besserer Qualität, aber was ich immerhin machen kann, ist, die Farben und die Helligkeit etwas zu korrigieren und die Perspektive geradezurücken, damit die Häuser und v.a. der Stadtturm nicht aussehn, als ob sie gleich einfallen würden ;–). Ich habe über das alte Foto eine neue Version hochgeladen, die ich zumindest besser finde -- wieder unter

I would like to make it clear that my opinion was just a normal vote according to the routine (and in this case obviously in the absolute minority) and I had no intention of upsetting the voters in my comment. The issue of European and Persian eyes was just an attempt to soften the debate, I can not write my comments properly in English so I use Google Translate, and this makes it a bit difficult to convey the meaning. That's why I try to use phrases and expressions that are exactly the same as others so as not to seem confused and far from the subject. Hello! Nice to see you up and about the place again. :-) I wonder if you might have the time someday to look at a photo for me? I found some jellies down by the deep and dark end of one of the fjords, with the sun just glancing the surface. After only a few adjustments in Lightroom (and no saturation) they popped out like crazy. I don't think they are FP material, but I still would appreciate some help in checking out how you think one of the photos look so I can calibrate my editing. And maybe try this sort of photo shoots again. :-) Here is a link, the first is the original editing, which looks a bit dark to me, and the second is a slightly brightened version which I perceive as better but it might lose some of the contrast. Hello Cart, this is a beautiful photo with some of the mysterious magic of deep-sea photography, although it wasn’t taken deeply down in the ocean. As often, there is no simple ‘A is better than B’ answer. IMHO the darker version has the advantage to look a bit more dreamy and mysterious, so for some special applications it would be preferable. But overall the brightened version seems better; it shows more of the ‘they popped out like crazy’, it appears sharper and crisper, and will (very probably) appear more appealing to most viewers. In any case, I would ask you to try this sort of photo shoots again, if possible; these jellies are really worth photographing, and the result is (at least in my eyes) really attractive. Thank you ever so much!! Very, very helpful. :-) I was hoping the brighter version hadn't lost too much detail to the light since I agree with you that it might appeal more to most viewers. Yes, it is fun that these deep fjords can make things look like you are out on a serious underwater expedition. :-) Illusion is part of the allure of photography. I will certainly try more of these photos, although there is a bit of logistics/weather cooperating/jellies being present (they are not there every day) involved, but I too like them. In general: If you want to request that a file/photo/image on Wikimedia Commons should be renamed, please go to the page for that image. On the top of that page, there are some tabs labelled “View”, “Edit”, “History” usw. Right of them there is an item called “More”. If you click on “More”, a little menu pops up, and it contains an entry called “Move”. Select ”Move”. Now you are asked how the file should by renamed and why you do want to rename it. When you are done, your request is saved and will be checked by some filemover (this can take some time ;–). You can read more about renaming files on Commons on the help page.

Bitte (Sortierung von Muschel-FPs)

Hallo Roman, vielen Dank für Deine Anfrage. Ich habe mir die Sortierung mal angeschaut.
Zunächst zu den Gastropoden. Die Einteilung in die Großgruppen ist gut, allerdings gibt es mehrere verschiedene, nebeneinander existierende taxonomische Systeme, die ich nicht mischen würde (z.B. gehören die Mesogastropoda in ein anderes Klassifikationssystem, als du sonst benutzt). Ich würde mich an die Systematik halten, die WoRMS benutzt, und auf die sich auch die meisten Wikipedia-Artikel beziehen. Hier würde ich die dort aufgeführten Unterklassen nehmen (Caenogastropoda, Heterobranchia, Neomphaliones, Patellogastropoda, Vetigastropoda), da sie Deiner momentanen Einteilung am nächsten kommen. Sie sind hier alphabetisch aufgeführt, was für einen Laien natürlich einfacher ist, mit der natürlichen Vawandtschaft hat das aber nichts zu tun. Wollte man sie gemäß natürlicher Verwandtschaft sortieren, wäre die Reihenfolge Patellogastropoda (als ursprünglichste), Vetigastropoda, Neritimorpha, Neomphaliones (mit nur wenigen Vertretern), Caenogastropoda, Heterobranchia (als höchste Gruppe). Innerhalb dieser Gruppen kann man die Familien natürlich auch wieder alphabetisch aufführen (was wiederum nichts mit der natürlichen Verwandtschaft zu tun hat), oder nach ihrer natürlichen Verwandtschaft (so habe ich sie in meiner Galerie sortiert).
Bei den Gastropoden wurde eine Art schon von Anfang an in der FP-Galerie falsch einsortiert: Cyclosdtrema archeri gehört nicht zu den Ampullinidae sondern zu den Liotiidae (Vetigastropoda).
Bei den Bivalvia kann man als Großgruppen bei den Ordnungen bleiben. Arcida ist korrekt, bei den anderen muss es Mytilida und Ostreida heißen, bei der Art Ensis ensis muss "Euheterodonta incertae sedis" in "Adapedonta" geändert werden und käme im Moment, wenn man nicht alphabetisch, sondern nach Verwandtschaft sortiert, als letztes. In meiner Galerie sind die Muscheln (da fange ich erst mit fotografieren an, es sind noch nicht so viele), ebenfalls nach Verwandtschaft sortiert (innerhalb der Familien dann allerdings, wie auch bei den Gastropoden, meistens dann alphabetisch, da innerhalb der Familien und Gattungen die genauen Verwandtschaftsverhältnisse noch nicht geklärt sind).
Als Tipp: Wenn du auf eine WoRMS-Seite (s.o.) gehst, kannst du links oben in den Feld "Quick search..." Arten, Gattungen, Familien usw. eingeben und du bekommst dann die genaue taxonomische Einordnung. In WoRMS kannst du auch nicht nur nach Mollusken suchen, sondern generell auch nach anderen Meerestieren bis hin zu Wirbeltieren.

vielen herzlichen Dank für Deine ausführliche Antwort! Das ist viel mehr, als ich erwartet habe. Es ist super, dass Du Dich als Experte dieses Seite angenommen hast. Ich habe die Seite von meinen „Vorgängern“ so übernommen und bisher einfach die bestehende Systematik weitergeführt. Deine Hinweise sind aber natürlich Anstoß genug, über eine größere Umordnung nachzudenken. Ich werde mir das nächste Woche mal in Ruhe ansehen, um festzustellen, wie ich die von Dir vorgeschlagenen Änderungen am besten mit der Struktur der Seite umsetzen kann – ich darf die technische Seite nicht zu sehr ändern, da wir möchten, dass der FP-Bot Bilder von Exemplaren, die zu einer bereits angelegten Familie gehören, automatisch einsortieren kann. Und die Struktur muss für Laien (wie mich) handhabbar bleiben. Ich denke aber, dass das machbar ist. Bei Fragen werde ich mich wieder bei Dir melden.

Leider bin ich mit den deutschen Top-100 noch nicht fertig; ich bin, glaube ich, bei den Detailaufnahmen bis Nr. 25 (inklusive) gekommen und bei den Landschaftsaufnahmen bis Nr. 12 (inklusive). Ich wollte das nächste Woche fertigmachen, aber falls Du weitermachen möchtest/könntest, wäre das natürlich auch sehr willkommen ;–).

@Z thomas: PS: Ich finde Deinen Vorschlag “section” für den neuen Parameter des Templates besser als meinen Parameter-Namen „category”, da letzteres leicht mit den Commons-Kategorien durcheinanderkommt. Daher habe ich den Parameter im Template umbenannt und (hoffentlich) alle Bildbeschreibungsseiten angepasst, auf denen ich das Template schon eingebaut habe. Falls Du also weitermachen möchtest, nimmt statt category=Landschaftsaufnahmen einfach section=Landschaftsaufnahmen. Nochmals beste Grüße, --Aristeas (talk)

hab auch die leeren beschreibungen nachgetragen, wenn die Infos im Dateinamen oder in der Beschreibung der Structured Data vorhanden war.

Hallo @Wi-luc-ky: , danke für die Zusammenstellung! Der Name der Bilddatei ist wirklich etwas lang, aber ich bin mit Umbennenungen von Bilddateien vorsichtig (anders als bei Kategorien oder Artikeln), solange der Dateiname nicht strikt falsch ist – unsere Umbenennungsregeln hier auf Commons sind relativ streng. Falls 98XX22 einen Umbenennungsantrag stellt, ist die Sache einfacher, dann kann ich diesen gerne ausführen. – In {{Commonscat|St. Ägidius (Kleincomburg)}} ist der Zusatz tatsächlich entbehrlich; lösche ihn doch, wenn Du möchtest. An sich könnte sogar die ganze {{Commonscat}}-Vorlage entfallen, da der Link zur Kategorie dank Wikidata auch in der Seitenleiste unter „In anderen Projekten“ angezeigt wird; aber ich bin mit dem Entfernen von {{Commonscat}} zurückhaltend, ich bin inzwischen mehr hier auf Commons zuhause als in der dt. Wiki Loves Monuments 2021

Hallo Aristeas,

bald ist es soweit: Vom 1. bis zum 30. September 2021 findet zum elften Mal der internationale Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments statt. Dabei können Bau-, Boden- und Kulturdenkmale fotografiert und die Fotos hochgeladen werden. Du hast an einem der vergangenen Fotowettbewerbe teilgenommen. Deshalb laden wir dich gern wieder ein, dieses Jahr mitzumachen. Wir freuen uns auf deine Fotos!

Obwohl es den Wettbewerb seit über zehn Jahren gibt, sind immer noch viele Motive überall in Deutschland zu fotografieren. Im Herzen Deutschlands in Thüringen und in Niedersachsen sind neue Denkmallisten entstanden, die auf Fotos warten. Übrigens in der Hauptstadt Thüringens in Erfurt findet dieses Jahr die WikiCon vom 1. bis 3. Oktober statt. Dies könnte man mit einem Foto-Kurzurlaub vor der WikiCon in Thüringen verbinden …

Vor dem Hintergrund der Flutkatastrophe 2021 haben wir auch drei Sonderpreise ausgelobt. Damit sollen Fotos prämiert werden, die Kulturdenkmale zeigen, die zerstört wurden. Das Foto kann das Objekt vor oder nach der Zerstörung zeigen.

Für die Suche nach Motiven gibt es bei Wikipedia zahlreiche Listen und Karten. Als Einstieg hilft diese Übersichtsseite. Weitere Informationen erhältst du auf der Mitmach-Seite.

Du bist interessiert, am Wettbewerb mitzuwirken, dir fehlt aber die richtige Technik? Dann wirf doch mal einen Blick in den Technikpool und das Technikleihportal von Wikimedia Deutschland! Dort findest du Kameras, Objektive und Zubehör verschiedenster Art.

Außerdem laden wir Dich ein, ab Anfang September 2021 an der Vorjury teilzunehmen. Diese bewertet die hochgeladenen Bilder und ermittelt so gemeinsam mit der Jury, die im Oktober tagt, die Sieger von Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Deutschland. Hello Aristeas. I'd like to report to you about a spelling error and a user who's continuing misspelling it. The error is the name "Ciriè", an Italian town that should be written "Cirié". All the articles of Wikipedia in any language spell it correctly "Cirié", as it's spelled in the official site of the town ([3]). A few months ago an IP changed the accent of all the categories in Commons on his own and requested to move some file names too, you moved them believing that renaming them to "Ciriè" was correct, but as you've seen now it isn't, it was correct before. This IP did the same in Wikidata, where all the Wikipedian articles listed are spelled "Cirié" while all the labels are spelled "Ciriè". Quite ridiculous... Well, today the errors were corrected, but a registered user, Arbalete, almost immediately started restoring the wrong spelling. I suspect that Arbalete and the IP are the same person, but apart from this consideration the point is that in Commons and Wikidata the town name is misspelled. I've told you because you're the one who renamed the files months ago, I've preferred to tell you about this error and explain the situation than start an edit war with Arbalete. So, please, could you restore the correct categories and descriptions? Or do you think that I should call on someone else? The file names, instead, can remain as they're now because they're precisely just file names, so there's no need to move them. Hello @Gercryni: This is a difficult situation. I had moved the files because as somebody speaking a little bit Italian I assumed that most Italian words and names which have an accent on the last syllable (normally just a vowel) use the grave accent, as in città, è, Cefalù etc. But no rule without exception, and your reference to the website and the Italian WP article demonstrate clearly that my assumption was wrong – sorry! But how to procede now? I have no special authority regarding filenames etc., and if I start to move all the categories etc. back to the spelling “Cirié”, it would just be an edit war. IMHO the best would be if you contact some experienced Commons administrator, if possible one from Italy; an administrator has the necessary authority to do these changes and (if necessary) to block the users who contain to propagate the wrong spelling. According to this list, there are 3 Commons administrators who speak Italian (just scroll down untile the subheading “italiano”. Please try to ask just as you have asked me by explaining the problem. Just please do not ask them all at once (this could lead to confusion ;–), try to ask one of them, e.g. Ruthven, and if (s)he has not got any time you can ask the next one. Hallo Kritzolina, schau bitte mal nach, ob Du mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden bist. Ich habe es eben hochgeladen. Nach dem Drehen musste ich leider an den Bildrändern ein bisschen etwas wegschneiden, das ist immer so; da von den Steinen unten fast nichts übrig geblieben wäre und da diese Reste mMn eher gestört hätten, habe ich sie ganz entfernt. Dadurch ist jetzt aber die Komposition klarer. Da ich schon mal dabei war, habe ich die Gradation vorsichtig etwas optimiert – ich hoffe, ich habe das richtige Maß getroffen ;–) – und das Bild minimal geschärft (das ist nach dem Drehen meist nötig, da das Bild dadurch eher unschärfer wird). Wenn Du halbwegs zufrieden bist, ergänze Deine Nominierung auf der QIC-Seite bitte um {{done}} New version uploaded. --~~~~ oder so, dann weiß der Reviewer bescheid. Hallo Kritzolina, ich freue mich sehr, dass Dir das Ergebnis gefällt! – Hm, mit FP bin ich persönlich immer vorsichtig (ich traue mich kaum, dort meine eigenen Fotos zu nominieren). Ich fürchte, dass die Bildqualität im Detail nicht ganz den hohen Ansprüchen genügt, die dort heute gestellt werden – was aber nicht an Dir liegt, sondern an der Kamera, die extrem praktisch und vielseitig ist, aber eben nur einen 1-Zoll-Sensor hat, und daran, dass die Aufnahme als JPEG gemacht wurde und nicht als Raw-image-Datei (das verringert den Bearbeitungsspielraum und die Detailschärfe). Cart hat dieselbe Kamera benutzt, aber, wie sie mir mal erklärt hat, einen wirklich enormen Aufwand getrieben, um die Qualität zu verbessern. Du kannst aber (oder solltest sogar) noch jemand anderen fragen, vielleicht Ikan oder Daniel Case, die ja dauernd auf der FPC-Seite unterwegs sind und wahrscheinlich einen etwas weniger technischen Blick haben als ich! Hello Jebulon, thank you very much for your kind answer! Yes, I have enjoyed your photos from Delphi very much, as well as other photos from Greece you have uploaded earlier. It’s the same for me: I love Greece, especially the ancient and Byzantine sites, but also the harsh beauty of its landscape. When I was a child my parents visited the country often with me; I was not even a year old when I saw Crete for the first time – naturally I can’t remember that ;–), but I guess this has established my love for that country and my interest in Greek history, art and culture. Today I do not find the time for such travels but I am always happy to see good photographs from Greece. We have many photos of Delphi and other sites on Wikimedia Commons, of course, but many (most?!) of them are not that great, therefore I want to thank you for your very good photographs! Aspect ratio

Hello Colin, sorry for the delay; I was offline for two days. It is difficult to find the pictures in question (I do not make notes for such stuff), but a goof example is File:SL Ella asv2020-01 img29 Dhowa Temple.jpg – please see the FPC discussion. I am sure that there were more instances of such discussions. – On the QIC page changes to the aspect ratio are quite frequent. Best, --Aristeas (talk) 09:45, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

That's not a great example because firstly A.Savin was uncomfortable making the change and also because there are no walls perpendicular to the camera direction. I disagree that this is generally an appropriate change, when the real concern is that so much of the subject is at an angle to the camera which has an ultra-wide lens. I don't participate at QIC and am disappointed if people are being encouraged to make non-educationally representative changes to suit some person on the internet's idea of what looks nice. It is especially a problem if the change isn't documented. We are firstly an educational media repository, not Flickr or Instagram. -- Colin (talk) 11:41, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

In your statements in the recent discussion you did not refer especially to “walls perpendicular to the camera direction”; and that A.Savin was first uncomfortable to make that change does not matter here: the change was made, nobody complained, the image was promoted. All what was required is an example which proofs that aspect ratio changes were recommended and applied before in FPC discussions; that was the case for this photo; so my statement “This is not not the first time that global aspect ratio changes for aesthetic reasons have been suggested or discussed on the FPC page; it has been done previously, and nobody complained when the result did look fine” is affirmed by this example. --Aristeas (talk) 09:01, 8 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi IamMM, I have added the correct section to the gallery link. The nomination seems fine to me, but I am not Set expert ;–). If you want to add a short description to the nomination, I would consider “European robins (Erithacus rubecula) in snow, observed near Heidelberg, Germany.” The problem is: should one write “European robins” or “European robin”, is this the same bird or are these several birds of the same kind? (Photo 2 to 4 were taken at the same time of the same day, so they show probably the same bird; the first photo was taken on another day than the other ones.) Definitely not a pro :) but IMO while they're all nice shots, I'm not sure about a set. Putting aside the question of "is it a proper set," the quality varies quite a bit. The first one is noisy and not so sharp, for example. I would support this one on its own, though.  Done Hallo Kritzolina, ich habe es versucht. Bitte sieh gelegentlich nach, ob Du mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden bist. Ich habe das Bild etwas gedreht, da mir die Madonna nicht ganz gerade schien (wobei ich es absichtlich nicht 100% gerade gemacht habe, denn dann schien wegen der Perspektive die Madonna nach links geneigt – das auch nicht gut). Dann habe ich den Rand v.a. rechts abgeschnitten, links habe ich den Schatte möglichst ganz gelassen, da er mir sehr zur Wirkung des Bildes beizutragen scheint. Die Farbbalace habe ich teilweise korrigiert – m.M.n. war das Bild zu gelblich, das ist bei solchen Innenaufnahmen ganz oft der Fall; jetzt ist es immer noch etwas gelblich, aber weniger, sodass die Farben deutlicher werden. Schließlich habe ich die Schatten vorsichtig etwas aufgehellt (nicht zu sehr, sonst rauscht es zu sehr) und ein ganz kleines bisschen scharfgezeichent (mehr geht nicht, sonst haben wir wieder Rauschprobleme). Perfekt ist es nicht, aber die störenden Elemente rechts sind jetzt weg und die Farben der Madonnenfigur kommen jetzt etwas besser zur Geltung. – Wie gesagt, wenn es Dir nicht gefällt, einfach Bescheid geben (das ist alles auch Geschmackssache)! Vielen Dank, das ist wie immer bei dir sehr gut gelungen und ich schaue sie so noch lieber an. Ich habe mittlerweile festgestellt, dass es noch keinen Artikel zu der Kapelle gibt, in der sie steht und bin am recherchieren - bis das ein Artikel wird, kann aber noch dauern. Kirchenartikel sind nicht meine wirkliche Stärke, aber ein wenig habe ich zu der Johanniskapelle gefunden - leider fast nichts zu unserer Madonna. Hallo Kritzolina, der Artikel ist doch recht informativ geworden! Für eine kleine Kapelle ist das ein guter Artikel, ich finde auch die detaillierten Hinweise zum Bau sehr interessant. Also vielen herzlichen Dank für Deine Arbeit! – Unklar war mir nur (zuerst) die Formulierung „Die Jahreszahl 1509 ist als Minuskel in den Giebel gemalt.“ Als ich auf dem Foto gesehen habe, dass dort „m·cccc·ix·“ steht, habe ich begriffen, was gemeint ist. Mir fällt aber leider auch nicht auf Anhieb ein, wie man das klarer formulieren könnte. Falls Du also dazu noch eine Idee hättest, wäre das noch eine lohnende Verbesserung. Könnte man vielleicht auf den Hinweis, dass es sich um eine Minuskel-Schrift handelt, verzichten und einfach „ist in römischen Ziffern („MCCCIX“) in den Giebel gemalt“ schreiben? Bei Fotos von Gemälden kann ich mich oft nicht gleich entscheiden, ob ich dafürstimme oder nicht; ich schlage das Gemälde oft erst in Büchern nach, um einen gewissen Vergleich zu haben und auch mehr über das Gemälde zu erfahren.
