Hey! Maine's 2nd congressional district was called for Trump a few days back meaning 3 votes went to Biden and one to Trump. Could that one grey spot in Maine be filled in red for Trump? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 16:56, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- @TDKR Chicago 101: While most news organizations have called ME-2 for Trump, at least one (CNN) has not. Only the races where the major news organizations have agreed in the call are being colored: if there's any doubt, it's left out. If CNN calls ME-2 or Maine certifies their results, then it will be colored. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 17:10, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- @AntiCompositeNumber: : Even if the New York Times called it? --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 17:14, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- @TDKR Chicago 101: Because the race is so tight, we're being extremely careful this year. If there is any doubt, leave it out. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 17:15, 6 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi. Maybe we should protect this (and several other pages) from IPs. Thx. --E4024 (talk) 03:07, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- @E4024: Nah, it's only been one range, there's no need for protection. I blocked Special:Contribs/2600:1700:DC00:6D60:0:0:0:0/64 for a week this time. @CptViraj: It's a good idea to block IPv6 /64 ranges instead of single IPs, as they correspond more accurately to a single internet connection. See w:en:wp:/64. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 03:55, 13 November 2020 (UTC)
- I saw that both are on the same range but I'm not good in range blocks therefore I just blocked that single IP. -- CptViraj (talk) 04:03, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

Hi there, File:Eisha Singh.jpg has been uploaded several times by Flyingcolouredbutterfly, who doesn't seem to get that they can't steal a photo from Instagram, upload it, claim that the image subject is the copyright holder, and then assert that the person who probably isn't the copyright holder has released it into the Creative Commons. There's just... so much wrong with that. Is there any way you can administrate again, please? You previously blocked this account for the same thing. I've been having a problem with this user at en:Eisha Singh and I don't do much gnoming at Commons, so I'm unfamiliar with the processes. I suspect the user is doing PR for the subject or otherwise trying to maintain the article like a social media outlet. Thanks, and sorry for the hassle. Hi, it is your job with
- "One of the scripts you are running is broken and using a deprecated function addPortletLink. Please check your skin scripts and common scripts, to update the reference to mw.util.addPortletLink to restore your script." and / or
- "Due to an unfixed bug in simpleSVGcheck this edit has introduced invalid wikitext that will hide the license templates. ..."
I am trying to heal this bugs but my JS-knowledge is not sufficient enough for that. Whom can I ask? -- sarang♥사랑 12:12, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Sarang: The first error should be fixed by replacing
addPortletLink
withmw.util.addPortletLink
. It is a simple replacement, as the mw.util version is fully backwards-compatible. See mw:ResourceLoader/Migration_guide_(users)#Adding_portlet_links for details. As far as the second problem, I do not know where the error is. It is likely that there is a string that has}
where it should have}}
. I do not know simpleSVGcheck well enough to find it, nor do I have the time to learn the code and fix it at the moment. You might find help at COM:VPT. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 21:20, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Warning Nonsense
This is so stupid. For the half of the stuff I have uploaded to the wiki I have asked the copyright holders yet you didn't care and just deleted my contributions. You didn't show the slightest sign of cooperation when it comes to contributions and straightly delete such effort taken to install all of those images. --Comrade-yutyo (talk) 23:00, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Comrade-yutyo: If you follow the instructions at COM:OTRS to provide evidence of that permission, we can undelete the files. Commons policy requires that we treat files without evidence that the copyright holder has released them under a free license as copyright violations. Inviting you to join the Universal Code of Conduct consultation on Wikimedia Commons!
Dear AntiCompositeNumber,
Thank you for your hard work to create the sum of all knowledge that is freely sharable to every single human being across the world. As our diverse community grows, we need a guideline that will help all of our work collectively and constructively where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and part of a team. That is why the Wikimedia movement is working on establishing a global guideline called the Universal Code of Conduct, often referred to as UCoC.
After the months-long policy consultation, we have prepared a draft policy (available in many languages). We’re currently in the second phase of the process. During this round of consultation, we want to discuss the implementation of this policy. We want to hear from you on how this policy can be enforced on the Wikimedia Commons community and what might be needed to do so.
The discussion is taking place on Commons:Universal Code of Conduct consultation. You can also share your thoughts by replying to this message (Please ping me so I get notified), posting your message on my talk page. I am perfectly aware that some thoughts cannot be expressed publicly, so you can always share your opinion by emailing me as well.
As a valued member of the Commons community, please share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences that relate to UCoC. Let us know what needs to be improved so we can build a more friendly and cooperative space to increase editor engagement and retention of new users.
Wikimedia projects are governed by you. So, it is you who needs to step up to ensure a safe, comfortable, and pleasant working environment.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Please take a short survey regarding UCoC
Hello AntiCompositeNumber,
I would like to inform you that we now have a survey in place to take part in the UCoC consultation. It is not a long one and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. You can take the survey even if you have already participated in the on-wiki consultation. It has a different set of questions and allows you to participate anonymously and privately.
As a member of the Commons functionaries, your opinion is especially essential. Please click here to participate in the survey.
You are still welcome to participate in the on-wiki discussions. If you prefer you can have your say by sending me an email. You can also drop me an email if you want to have a one-to-one chat.
Thank you for your participation! Wikitanvir (WMF) 13:53, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

- @TeenAngels1234: Because you are not the copyright holder, we need to have evidence that the copyright holder agreed to the license stated. There are two ways to accomplish this: by including a link to where the copyright holder agreed to the license or by having the copyright holder email us following the instructions at COM:OTRS. The photographer leaving a comment on the Instagram post saying "I agree to publish this photo under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license." would be sufficient. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 18:28, 12 February 2021 (UTC)

Giants coaches
Hey I wrote the tag that I found after how do I insert it in? Bigmike2346 (talk) 13:21, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Bigmike2346: The Commons licensing policy requires all files on Commons to be freely licensed so that anyone can use them, for any reason, including to make derivative works and for commercial purposes. The license information provided for File:Kevin Sherrer.webp and the others do not meet that definition, because they prohibit commercial use and derivatives. Please do not upload photos to Commons that you have not created yourself unless they have been explicitly released under a specific free license by the copyright holder or are clearly in the public domain. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 17:09, 18 February 2021 (UTC)

Buenas tardes. MiguelAlanCS (talk) 13:36, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Flagged for insufficient information on its copyright status
Hi there! Sorry - I'm a bit new to editing, but my upload got flagged by your bot for insufficient information on its copyright status, as no copyright tag was detected. I'm a bit confused as to what this means, so I would really appreciate if you could take a look (I've pasted the link below) and let me know the issue!! Thank you so much!
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:三八节有感_(Thoughts_on_March_8).png — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChineseLit (talk • contribs) 22:33, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
--ChineseLit (talk) 22:33, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- @ChineseLit: Welcome to Wikimedia Commons! When you uploaded the file, you didn't include a Copyright tag. You did include {{Free screenshot}}, but that doesn't really say anything about the copyright status of the file other than that it's a screenshot of software. That's not really correct, so I have removed it. After the bot tagged the file, you added {{PD-text}} and {{PD-ineligible}}. Both are valid license templates, but having both is a bit redundant. {{PD-text}} is a bit better for this situation, so I removed {{PD-ineligible}} and the deletion tag. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 23:38, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your help!! I really appreciate it :) --ChineseLit (talk) 23:44, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
Help with Abuse Filter
You appear to be rather deft with the Abuse Filter. Could you check if Special:AbuseFilter/249, which I just created, is ready to go live? I'm trying to stop an LTA case and this is my first time creating a filter. Cheers, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 05:35, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Pi.1415926535: Yeah, that looks like a fairly simple one, looks good to me. With any new filter, you want to check for false positives and make sure it does what you want it to after enabling it. In many cases, it's best to start with a log-only filter to test it, then switch to warn/deny. Log-only filters can also be useful if you're worried about a target changing their behavior. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 03:36, 11 March 2021 (UTC)

Ritratto di Leopoldo II di Toscana
Hi, about File:Ritratto di Leopoldo II di Toscana.jpg and your edit of March 21. I personally take the photo of the current version uploaded. Even the oldest versions, even if not uploaded by me, are my photos. The version uploaded in 2014 by Filippo Corradi was put by me in an Italian web forum about Sissi; the version uploaded in 2018 by Francesco Braia di Corradi came by my public Instagram profile.--Kaho Mitsuki (Dis-moi) 10:00, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I've split the different versions of the file in accordance with COM:CROP, and cleaned up the description a bit. {{Own}} isn't completely correct, as you didn't paint the painting, so I changed it to {{Self-photographed}}. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 18:40, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I'm not really agree with what you do. Why did you split the two old versions? Their quality is not very good. I can understand for the detail that could have an utility (it's not a native three-quarter, it was me who cropped it; and btw I think it will be better to overwrite it with a cropped file based on my latest photo). But the source is totally incorrect. They didn't come by the Archivio di Stato di Firenze (give a look to the profiles of the users who uploaded it: they are the sockpuppets of the same User:A3cb1, blocked because he used to uploaded files with no valable sources). As you can see on Instagram [1], I uploaded the 3/4 cropped version on my profile on 8 May 2017 (the file on Wikicommons was uploaded on 10 September 2018). The bad quality first version was taken by me in October 2010 (and I uploaded it in this forum [2], it's not visible anymore). User:A3cb1 was pretty certainly active on that forum (here is asking for a photo of Leopold II on his death-bed [3]). Actually I can't see a reason to keep this oldest version: it's quality is really bad.--Kaho Mitsuki (Dis-moi) 09:31, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Kaho Mitsuki: The three-quarter crop falls under Commons:Overwriting_existing_files#Substantial_changes. There are significant color differences between the first and third versions, which is generally accepted to fall outside of the minor changes rule. I would agree that File:Ritratto di Leopoldo II di Toscana (Archivio di Stato di Firenze).jpg is probably not very useful, and should be nominated for deletion. False positive? File:Record card Fox 'F' grade 12 gauge shotgun for Theodore Roosevelt, rear side.jpg
Hello AntiCompositeNumber, it appears your bot flagged File:Record card Fox 'F' grade 12 gauge shotgun for Theodore Roosevelt, rear side.jpg and File:Record card Fox 'F' grade 12 gauge shotgun for Theodore Roosevelt, front side.jpg as copyright violations. Probably because of contradictory license info. The {{PD-text}} applies to the card itself, which was almost certainly filled by Ansley H. Fox (d. 1925) and has no text subject to copyright. The {{PD-Scan}} applies to the scan of the card. Hence there is no contradiction. If there is another issue, please be so kind as to inform me, just for avoiding future copyright infringement. I have kept both files, if they can't be kept on Commons, I will upload them to dewiki (as they are not copyrighted in Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Thanks, --Natalie Freyaldenhoven (talk) 12:55, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Natalie Freyaldenhoven: At the time the bot tagged the files, the license template was {{PD-scan|text}}. {{PD-scan}} uses a default license of {{PD-old}}, but will replace that template with whatever is in the first parameter. {{Text}} isn't a license, and because the default PD-old was removed, there was no license on the files. It sounds like what you meant to use was {{PD-scan|PD-text}}. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 14:18, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
- Arrrrgh! The issue was resolved on February 6th. Today, I was working on Commons and saw the red bell icon on the top of the screen. Went to my Commons talk page and - without checking the date - read the last message. In fact, the red bell icon was to inform me about a message on dewiki . I beg your pardon, --Natalie Freyaldenhoven (talk) 14:29, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi. Can you correct this please? --E4024 (talk) 02:23, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
Audioboss
You just declined a bunch of speedy deletion requests from Audioboss for files he uploaded. For background see Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#Files uploaded by Audioboss and Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Audioboss. They are starting to become an annoyance.
Now they are adding unnecessary filters and Flickr-washing things just for the hell of it. Compare this full length image with their most recent upload File:Major Manuel Luis Quezon.jpg. Take note of where the legs are cropped (right at the Getty watermark. Can you do me a favor and block them? Mo Billings (talk) 03:34, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
A photo from 1898 that is well known public domain in the Philippines. By definition that is public domain. I just uploaded it because the file is not in wikicommons. --Audioboss (talk) 04:01, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
Here you can email: asklibrarian@filipinaslibrary.org.ph and ask the Philippine government themselves. I consider this hounding and harassment.
Hounding on Wikipedia (or "wikihounding") is the singling out of one or more editors, joining discussions on multiple pages or topics they may edit or multiple debates where they contribute, to repeatedly confront or inhibit their work. This is with an apparent aim of creating irritation, annoyance, or distress to the other editor. Hounding usually involves following the target from place to place on Wikipedia.
Many users track other users' edits, although usually for collegial or administrative purposes. This should always be done carefully, and with good cause, to avoid raising the suspicion that an editor's contributions are being followed to cause them distress, or out of revenge for a perceived slight. Correct use of an editor's history includes (but is not limited to) fixing unambiguous errors or violations of Wikipedia policy, or correcting related problems on multiple articles. In fact, such practices are recommended both for Recent changes patrol and WikiProject Spam. The contribution logs can be used in the dispute resolution process to gather evidence to be presented in mediation, incidents, and arbitration cases. Using dispute resolution can itself constitute hounding if it involves persistently making frivolous or meritless complaints about another editor.
The important component of hounding is disruption to another user's own enjoyment of editing, or disruption to the project generally, for no overridingly constructive reason. Even if the individual edits themselves are not disruptive per se, "following another user around", if done to cause distress, or if accompanied by tendentiousness, personal attacks, or other disruptive behavior, may become a very serious matter and could result in blocks and other editing restrictions. --Audioboss (talk) 04:08, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

- @Audioboss and Mo Billings: I declined the speedy deletion requests because COM:CSD#G7 does not apply to images more than 7 days old. I have no particular opinion on the rest of this case, and do not plan to take any action here. Your arguments are best made at the ANUP thread and DR page already open. --AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 04:20, 28 March 2021 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker) @Mo Billings: speedy deletion is for uncontroversial deletion or blatant copyvios. If someone disputes it, it should not be speedily deleted. We're not in an urgent hurry here, you can go through the process. Elli (talk) 06:27, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Elli: I think you may have misunderstood. The speedy deletion requests were initiated by Audioboss, not me. That was what prompted me to ask for their block. It would also be nice if they were stopped from uploading any more of their photoshop filterized derivative works. Don't we block users after dozens of copyright violations and repeated lies about the sources even after they have been exposed? That is the situation here. Hi AntiCompositeNumber, you closed Commons:Deletion requests/File:Liebe ist Privatsache Logo.jpg with a delete result, but the file was not deleted. Can you give this another look? ƏXPLICIT 03:54, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
AntiCompositeNumber, I would appreciate it if you would reconsider your closure of Commons:Deletion requests/File:Trump looking at Wikipe-tan.png. COM:PEOPLE says "Images must not unfairly ridicule or demean the subject". I think the image is clearly intended to ridicule the subject. That policy also quotes the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This is a constructed image which attacks "the honour and reputation" of President Trump by depicting him looking a Japanese pornography. I didn't think it was necessary to spell that out when I referenced COM:PEOPLE in the deletion discussion, but that was my "valid reason". Thanks. Mo Billings (talk) 02:57, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

- The right to mock public officials is strongly protected in the United States. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 03:00, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, it is, but this Wikimedia Commons and we must abide by the rules and policies here. Our policy more or less says "don't mock people". It doesn't give exceptions for political figures. Do you disagree with that interpretation? Mo Billings (talk) 03:11, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- Anyone that look at the photo can see that it is fake. So I do not see a big problem in a user having a bit of fun on the userpage. As long as it is not placed in the category with all the other Trump photos it will probably not be noticed by many. --MGA73 (talk) 18:10, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter if it is a user "having a bit of fun". It doesn't matter if it "will probably not be seen by many". Our policy seems to say that we should not do this, at least it does to me. It doesn't say it's ok if it's just a bit of fun. Mo Billings (talk) 18:19, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Mo Billings: If you think File:Trump looking at Wikipe-tan.png violates our policy then what about File:President Donald J Trump looking at Japanese cartoon pornography.png you uploaded? Users that violates policy on purpose are disruptive. --MGA73 (talk) 20:24, 30 March 2021 (UTC)
- @MGA73: Two admins seem to be telling me here that my interpretation of COM:PEOPLE is wrong. If there's nothing wrong with File:Trump looking at Wikipe-tan.png, how is File:President Donald J Trump looking at Japanese cartoon pornography.png different? I created to help Zppix form an opinion about whether such an image would be acceptable under our policy. Mo Billings (talk) 20:46, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

"apparently undiscussed change"
Please link me to the relevant policy where I need to discuss anything before making a change. Thanks. 1989 (talk) 16:16, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- @1989: In most cases, you don't have to discuss changes before making them. However, there is a general expectation of stability for template-protected templates, so controversial changes should be discussed first. I'll remind you of the guidance in Commons:Template editor. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 17:43, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- Don't really understand what was so controversial about it. Usually speedy tags belong in one maintenance category, not two. If Category:Non-free logos is a "much less visible subcat", it needs to be deleted if no ones looking. 1989 (talk) 17:45, 31 March 2021 (UTC)

SaqqezCity4.jpg is not from farsnews.com because the image does not have a tag that shows this is from farsnews... even photographer is unknown (in all of farsnews images there is always photographer name) --Hoseina051311 (talk) 15:07, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Hoseina051311: You are welcome to list it at COM:DR if you feel the license is incorrect. Cinderella's bad selection
I had no idea I had removed the lic. and I am sorry for your trouble. Then that day, what is worse about this: when I saw it was missing, in my watchlist, instead of checking it out and fixing it, I apparently was looking to a future where the licence gets pulled in from wd.

Commons:Deletion requests/File:Trump looking at Wikipe-tan.png
Hi, I have boldly reopened this deletion request. The image literally has negative educational value, so though the prior nomination was on poor grounds, the image still has no good reason to be hosted on this project, as indeed would be true of any pointless user-created artwork with obvious potential to be used to create a hostile environment. Reverts on Works of Charles Dickens
Is there any particular reason why you are choosing to revert my edits on the various Works of Charles Dickens? I was trying to harmonize and fix the metadata. Also, the template {{Works of Charles Dickens volume}} does not follow the standards of {{Book}} that states "If the book has multiple volumes, then provide the volume number." Languageseeker (talk) 02:58, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Languageseeker: You are welcome to fix the metadata without removing license or authorship information. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 02:59, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
- My edits had Author = {{Creator:Charles Dickens}} does that not provide authorship information? Also, wouldn't it have been easier to add {{PD-scan}} if I overlooked that detail? I was attempting to replace a non-standard template that's only used on a few of the volumes of the entire series with the standard Book template. Languageseeker (talk) 03:03, 11 April 2021 (UTC)

Thanks and Feedback
Thanks for phab:T280721#7021869. Two trivial mistakes in a single bug-report is a bit embarrassing.
I created User:JoKalliauer/SVG_test_suites, for phab:T40010, it is imho more intensive (e.g. which files are wrong rendered) and more extensive (e.g. independent test suites, with each of them containing more images) than mw:SVG_benchmarks.
You seem to have a good overview what's important, and might know if something important missing? Or what would be the next steps to be able to decide?

- (talk page stalker) @Languageseeker your template has several issues:
- It doesn't implement any of the approved interfaces for copyright templates, which it must per policy (see {{License template tag}}).
- The template repeatedly mentions non-commercial clauses, which are unacceptable on Commons.
- The license text says nothing about the license of the work, only the license of the person who scanned it, which Commons doesn't recognize.
- Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:21, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Magog the Ogre: There is no explicit copyright on the Morgan Library website. Does the photographic reproduction of a manuscript fall into PD-scan? Languageseeker (talk) 04:57, 29 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Languageseeker: yes it does. IMO you would do better to include a template corresponding to the original license. A work by Oscar Wilde or Jane Austen should be {{PD-scan|PD-old-100-expired}}. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 14:35, 1 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello, please take a look at this report: Commons:Administrators' noticeboard#Files named with meaningless/disruptive names (motivated renaming was reverted without any valid reason) as these are serious everyday violations of the Commons rules and protection of meaningless names (in this case, Kalumny which translates as Columns). User Kazimier Lachnovič with filemover rights constantly performs violations of the Commons rules, creates instability issues and protects meaningless names, thus creates confusion. His Commons admin rights previously were lifted, but it is clear that it is not enough. -- Pofka (talk) 17:06, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
