I see the file normally (new version). This is cache problem. You can purge cache, if you want, but if you don't do it, then during couple of days the problem disappears. Other people see the file correctly. Taivo (talk) 18:57, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

@Larryasou: By principle, why not. But this is a logo, not a screenshot, and needs better source and evidence of free license. For example, http://www.deepin.org is licensed under "© 2011-2020 Wuhan Deepin Technology Co." Taivo (talk) 12:23, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Taivo. I come to ask for your help. My apologies for my english. I have doubts as to whether it would be valid to upload photographs taken by Agustín Casasola to Wikimedia Commons. Theoretically it would be possible given that the photographer died more than seventy years ago (also, as said in Template:PD-Mexico, the author died before 1952). However, his photographs, available on the page of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia of Mexico, are released with a license not compatible with Commons (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). In cases like this, does the latter license predominate or would it be considered in the public domain because the author died 82 years ago? Greetings and thank you. @Edslov: you can upload the files into Commons under license PD-Mexico. This is typical situation: the institute does not sort out, which files are in public domain due to age and which ones are not, they simply put the NC license for all website, even when the license does not apply. Amongst the pages I had created, Ayaz Ismail, Nirmika Singh are really close friends of mine, I am the nephew of Harish Sharma (Author) I have not asked for any compensation for these pages, this is not my business and hence I am not as efficient, on page creations, I request you to please revoke the deletions, this is not my business I am dealing in, it is just a help towards my friends and family that I am dealing in, with what ever less knowledge I have, please check my last page create Utkarsh Sharma had this been my business I would have created more pages and quite often, It is a request again to you to revoke the deleted pages.

Hi Taivo, could I ask you to re-evaluate your block of Elgewen (talk · contribs) (running unapproved bot, 3days). The user seems to use the tools Cat-A-Lot and Hot-Cat and I'm not particularly concerned about either the volume nor the quality of the edits. The user's edits seem to be in line with Commons:Bots as well: Semi-automated tools (e.g. Javascript tools) are not normally considered to be bots and do not require a separate account, but some users choose to use a separate account for non-bot but high-speed editing. The user also seems to be responsive to comments on his user page [1]. It might be more appropriate to advise the user to be more cautious with these tools as well as give him the opportunity to correct possible errors himself. --Schlurcher (talk) 09:10, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

This user is a minor and using his user page as some kind of blog. Do you really think that this is a valid reason to keep a copied photo from YouTube? I'm terribly sorry, Taivo, but at this moment in time I have to disagree with your ruling that File:SC Plate 2008.jpg be kept.

I stand by my beliefs that you can *not* upload an image from another person's personal site if you have not asked for that person's permission like they have clearly stated on the site, and that regardless whether or not you have obtained that person's permission you can *not* claim the image to be your own work.

User:Oldfan123456 took this particular image from Ben Bunton's personal South Carolina license plate site (http://www.scplates.com/license-plates/passenger, about two thirds of the way down) and claimed it as their own work, without even providing a link to Mr Bunton's site. This makes me believe that they did not comply with what Mr Bunton says at the top of the page, in particular the last sentence: "Plates shown here are for reference only. Some are in my collection, but most are not. No plate imaged here is for sale. Please ask permission before using images elsewhere."

The image is *not* Oldfan123456's own work. And, obviously, nor is the license plate itself, which is the work of the state of South Carolina.

(As you can see, I am assuming that Oldfan123456 and Mr Bunton are not the same person.)

Compare with File:New York license plate 1982.jpg, which another uploader took from David Nicholson's personal site (https://www.15q.net/ny.html). They have made it clear that neither the image nor the license plate itself are their own work - they have linked to Mr Nicholson's site (and, I assume, they *did* ask for his permission, and got it, before uploading the image), and the plate itself is obviously the work of the state of New York.

I'm sorry to have to disagree with you here - but I can't help but stand by my beliefs, and I do still feel at this moment in time that there is a reasonable case for deleting this South Carolina license plate image uploaded by Oldfan123456 (I don't want to link to it more than once in this comment, hence this description).

@Klondike53226: I am sorry, I somehow thought, that this is work of California state, although there are big words "South Carolina" on the license plate. What can I say? It was almost midnight, when I closed the request, and I was sleepy. Works of California state are free from copyright, works of South Carolina are copyrighted. I'll delete the image.
But I must say: Ben Bunton can claim whatever he likes on his webpage, he is not author of the image, this is work of South Carolina state. Bunton's claim "Please ask permission before using" is null and void, because he is not copyright holder of the image, South Carolina state is. Bunton photographed it, but photographing of 2-dimensional object does not create additional copyright, photographing 3-dimensional objects like sculptures and coins creates new copyright. Violation of privacy by publication of private addresses and other private data

I choose speedy deletion, because there is a close connection in terms of content with recently deleted PDF files (see [2]) which the uploader used for a private argument. The content of the files includes private addresses and data about private real estate. Please contact Achim55 or Raymond who are familiar with the case. At first I must repeat: the files have been 11 years in Commons and deserve a regular deletion request. Couple of weeks more or less do not mean anything now. In addition, some documents are from years 1943 and 1945, all associated people are long dead and these documents do not violate nobody's privacy. Some documents are from year 1993, they are almost 30 years old, probably all associated phone numbers and even addresses have changed. In my opinion here is no privacy violation. I just happened to see this discussion by chance, so excuse me for intruding. I am not questioning your decision. I was just wondering: What would make you think that addresses or phone numbers would have changed after 30 years? Many people still live in the same place they lived in 30 years ago. I've considered posting an OTRS ticket but on the main page they say it's unnecessary : "I created the file myself, it hasn't been previously published, and I am the sole owner of its copyright. Just follow the instructions found on the Commons:Upload page, unless the image/file is of outstanding or professional quality or there is some other reason your authorship may be doubted.

Could you explain further the reason why you think I should go over an OTRS ticket ?

Exception is when this is previously published. All logos are previously published. Please read COM:OTRS, which says, when OTRS is needed: "I am the copyright owner but my file has been previously published without a free license on a medium I can't alter." The permission must come from copyright holder, that means from company representative. Taivo (talk) 10:59, 21 September 2020 (UTC)

Genealogy Table

I am a bit surprised at this decision. This table contains lots of private data of living people, even children, and there is no indication that any of them except for the uploader's customer has given their consent to publishing this data. I am quite confused. What private data are you talking about? Here are only given names and birth dates, no addresses, no education, no workplaces, no diseases, no criminal records. Younger people have even no marital status – I do not believe, that all those people in their thirties and fourties are unmarried. Here's even no citizenship, often even no surnames. You do not consider birth dates private data? And you do not consider children worth protecting from undue publishing of their names and birth dates, without anybody's consent?
I don't know what differences there may be in the legal situation of different countries, and I don't know which one Wikimedia Commons goes by. But we certainly aren't allowed to publish anything like that about anyone without their explicit consent. Have you ever tried to get genealogical information that is less than 100 years old in Germany on people you aren't directly related to? You won't. Privacy and data protection laws will prevent that.
Not sure what you mean about the marital status. The partners and their names are all in there. A bit difficult to read, maybe, but decipherable. --217.239.10.1 22:33, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
Given names and birth dates are no private data. Please look en:Prince William, Duke of Cambridge. All given names and birth dates of underage children are published without violation of privacy. But I agree, that access to genealogical information in Germany can be restricted. This is called non-copyright restriction. Please look at COM:NCR about that. The File:Moradorderua.jpg I would like to delete as well because I did not contact the homeless person when I took the photo (and maybe he can be identified), I didn't contact them as well in File:Woodworker.jpg (and it was a little blurry).

In my opinion it still violates copyright. The file is again deleted like your all other uploads. In my opinion you are not author of the photo and OTRS-permission is needed to confirm your authorship. Undeletion of files must go through COM:UDEL and I do not want to restore it. @Francyprex: I deleted them due to uploader's request on uploading week. During first week after upload everybody can demand deletion of the file. You must talk with Wikiutente64 about why (s)he wanted to delete the files. I see, that you re-uploaded one deleted file. I do not see problem with the file. You can re-upload other files as well, but only if they are simple logos. Complex logos are not allowed into Commons and you must consider threshold of originality.
