Parameter

@Leyo: as far as I know, the photographer is not to be given in the artist field of {{Artwork}}. Per its name, it is only for the original creator (as indicated in the documentation).

I believe current practice is to lump everything, "source", photographer & even date in the Source field − which indeed outputs as "Source/Photographer". See here or there for examples. So I was wondering if wrapping the photographer inside this Self-photographed would be useful.

Own work vs. Self-photographed?

I have seen most photographers use "Own work" ({{Own}}) when uploading images they took using their camera. Is there an advantage in using this ({{Self-photographed}}) template instead? Sanglahi86 (talk) 11:14, 27 October 2024 (UTC)

In case of a photograph of a work (a painting, a sculpture, a book etc.), this template makes it clear that the uploader is the author of only the photo (the derivative work), not of the original work. In case of a photograph of nature, people etc., this distinction is not that important, but it still doesn’t hurt if one’s clear about what they mean. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 22:59, 27 October 2024 (UTC)
