help clarifying a license
Hi. I have a picture of a mandaean jewel from circa 1920, depicting tagh-i-qesra. the picture is entirely my own - but the jewel isn't. is this considered fair use or does it fall under artwork license? גחנמת (talk) 20:02, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'd have to see it, but if it depicts something, it's likely we'll be concerned about the artwork license. However, unless you can attach a name to it, it's likely {{PD-EU-anonymous}} or some similar; it would depend on where the picture was taken.--Prosfilaes (talk) 21:29, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- tagh-i-qesra is a famous arc in iraq. pictures of the structure itself have been uploaded to wikipedia. the picture was taken in my home. I am the owner of the jewel. i'll upload the picture and let you have a look. גחנמת (talk) 04:28, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- uploaded as FileMandaen-jewlery-ctesiphone-arc.JPG. גחנמת (talk) 04:34, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Maybe not a question for "Commons"
I'd like to copy the image : 250px|thumb| احمد رامى from the Egyptian Wikipedia ( equivalent of article en:Ahmed Rami (poet) ) into other Wikipedias. How can I do this ? Is it possible or not ? Has it something to do with "Commons" ? Thanks for helping or informing. --Forstbirdo (talk) 21:04, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
- The link to the file is arz:ملف:أحمد رامي.jpg. The licence is correct for commons. Once uploaded at commons, the image can be put in other wikipedias. Can you give the title
asin case you wish it to be named in english? --Havang(nl) (talk) 21:43, 31 July 2010 (UTC)- Why English? I doubt there is any license information on the image. Docu at 04:05, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for answering. However, I dont know how to proceed. I understand the file must first be tranferred to Commons, but how ?? --Forstbirdo (talk) 18:19, 1 August 2010 (UTC). The title in English could be : "Ahmed Rami", but one doesn't need to change it. --Forstbirdo (talk) 18:23, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
- You must first copy the file to your computer. Be sure the copyright license is correct. Then choose (the menu on the left): 'Upload'file and then choose : It is from another Wikimedia project (link).
- There, you follow the instructions as precise as possible, especially in referring to the source file at egyptian wiki and the license. For the title, english could be handsome for users on other wikipedias.--Havang(nl) (talk) 09:03, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- As Docu said: There is no information about the source and copyright status on arz.wp. This file does not look eligible for transfer to Commons, see COM:L#License information: Things like "Transferred from Wikipedia" are generally not considered a valid source unless that is where it was originally published. The primary source should be provided. A primary source is missing, for sure this file is not own work by the arz.wp uplaoder who only uploaded to that wiki because he wasnt able to understand some basics here on Commons. Most of the files this user uploaded to arz.wp are blatant copyright violations and a violation of the Wikimedia licensing policy. --Martin H. (talk) 12:10, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

I can't fix the license
I just tried to upload an image belonging to somebody else(File:Chicago Trump International Hotel; Under Construction - 2006.jpg), but the tool broke the license, and I don't know how to fix it. None of the choices given to me by the bot seem to be right. ----DanTD (talk) 03:27, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- It looks like you fixed the problem. In future you can usually avoid these problems by using the CommonsHelper tool to move images from the English Wikipedia to Commons. See WP:MITC. --Teratornis (talk) 07:49, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
US ---> U.S.
On the upload page for military images "US" on the license options etc. should have periods. That is how it is written on military uniforms. Sorry it's so trivial but it's been bothering me for a while. Marcus Aurelius (talk) 03:45, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names) does not seem to give clear guidance on this. I doubt if we can rule on this problem from the Help desk. You would probably have to ask on the COM:VP to find out who decided to use "US" on the upload form and what their reasons were. --Teratornis (talk) 07:54, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Upload old (1960s) brochure as reference
The item may have been copy writed, but it expired. The company has been out of business since 1973 and the product has not been made since then
How does one upload the image and put on reference site? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cat Pauze (talk • contribs) 14:15, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- 1960s is probably not old enough for the document to have entered the public domain. See Help:Public domain and Commons:Hirtle chart. It depends on the country where the brochure was published, but many countries use the life of the author plus 50, 70, or 90 years. If the brochure was first published in the US without a copyright notice, before 1973, then it would be in the public domain according to the Hirtle chart (but that is for images only). See the other pages linked under COM:EIC#Copyright. The fact that the company is no longer in business is irrelevant to the copyright status of works by the company or its employees. --Teratornis (talk) 07:42, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Editing File History
Clicking on the picture reveals a list of thumbnails in the file history. Because of the height of the thumbnails, a long list is ugly, when all you want is the relevant current file. How do I delete the unused files? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnClarknew (talk • contribs)
- Which file do you have in mind? Generally, there isn't really a reason to delete as at Wikimedia websites, you can only use the current version anyways.
- You can always upload an improved versions under a new file name. Docu at 20:42, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Question about public domain image used in Wikipedia article about a satellite
I'm editing the article on the Mars Gravity Biosatellite, which uses this image, Satmouse.jpg. It is supposed to be in the public domain, as it was made by NASA. How do we know that this image was made by NASA? Gary2863 (talk) 17:38, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- It probably wasn't. I suggest nominating it for deletion. Powers (talk) 17:40, 3 August 2010 (UTC)

RE: Language Barrier/Deletion Notices
Hi, Midnight68 here. I'm having some problems with deletion notices being attached to my contributions. I've uploaded a total of 28 images to Commons, all of which are my own artwork. Following normal protocols, I have supplied accurate source information and released these images under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license and the GFDL.
In the past few days, however, I've had numerous deletion notices attached to the images, claiming that they are copyright violations (amongst other things). This is completely wrong, because all of the descriptions provide accurate source information, specifying that I am the author of the images and that the pictures are intended to illustrate visual characteristics of various types of anime/manga (lolicon, hentai, ecchi, etc).
I should point out that at least 6 of these illustrations had been previously approved by administrator Martin H. as acceptable for Commons. These images are now marked for deletion again, and one of them (which had been on the site for well over a year) has been removed without explanation.
The most recent mass-deletion request comes from a non-English user. I suspect that there is a language problem involved, as all of the files specify source, intent and licensing details in English. They are completely legitimate contributions under Wikimedia policy. I'm not trying to cause trouble: I've been contributing artwork to Commons for over a year. A number of my images have been used to illustrate articles on the English, Spanish and Russian wikipedias; for that reason alone they should not be removed without closer examination.
Please look carefully into this matter.
Midnight68 (talk) 11:55, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- I like to add that I not "approved" something. The community approves things, not users with (mere technical) admin rights. I only agreed to remove the {{subst:nsd}} that I placed on some images. I was misguided by your descriptions that this images are historic comic drawings/screenshots from a film. That was wrong following your explanation that this are not historic or notable artwork but fan art created by yourself. You describe my opinion "as acceptable for Commons", thats wrong. To correct your wrong impression here my personal opinion: This images are out of project scope per COM:PS#Examples, they are self-created artwork uploaded here not for educational purposes but solely for your personal vanity and spamming in our projects, in usernamespace and articles, cross-wiki, permanently repeating your right - correctly: your privilege - to spam here. Spam is removable but the images are too borderline to be accepted as an exeption from our non-acceptance of self-created artwork by non-notable artists. Thats my opinion, dont appeal to someone as an argument whose opinion has no binding function and whose opinion you not know. Thank, --Martin H. (talk) 12:20, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you for alerting us to your images. I've now voted Delete as well. I think you're looking for http://www.deviantart.com. Wknight94 talk 14:35, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Definetly not, since he got banned for the same pictures from DeviantArt. --Niabot (talk) 15:34, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Oh. Then, uh, I guess keep them to yourself? Or Encyclopedia Dramatica might enjoy them. Wknight94 talk 15:41, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Definetly not, since he got banned for the same pictures from DeviantArt. --Niabot (talk) 15:34, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you for alerting us to your images. I've now voted Delete as well. I think you're looking for http://www.deviantart.com. Wknight94 talk 14:35, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but that is grossly unfair, Martin. You originally attached the deletion notices because you thought they were unsourced screencaps. I never at any time, claimed they were "historic comic drawings/screenshots". You misinterpreted the description, which originally said that Panchira was a common element of 1960s anime. The artwork was clearly marked as my own, and the licence was stated as Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3. A native English speaker would have understood that the image was meant to illustrate visual characteristics of early Japanese animation.
When I explained to you they were my original artwork, you told me I could remove the deletion tags. I assumed that, as an administrator, you had the authority to determine if the content was acceptable. If you didn't, why did you tell me to remove the notices?
Secondly, I have not been "spamming in your projects, usernamespace and articles": I have uploaded 28 images to this site and posted only 4 to articles that required suitable illustrations. The rest have simply been made categorized for anyone who wants to use them. That is far from mass spamming.
Regarding the userboxes: all users are permitted to make userboxes for their personal pages. I've seen literally dozens of them es.wikipedia and elsewhere; some of them actually use my artwork. I also posted one as a gift to a certain Spanish wikipedian as a gift, to thank him for using my art on his page.
So please clarify this matter: is there any any rule against making userboxes for my various pages? If other people can use my work on their page, why can't I do the same thing?
Thirdly: yes; my pictures are self-created artwork - exactly the same as any of the thousands of amateur photographs used on the site. Whether they are of educational value is a matter of perspective: for example; an article on panchira needs a visual example of what panchira actually is. My pictures illustrate panchira in a number of different forms (anime, manga and ero-games), and they were supplied without incurring any copyright issues. The same could be said for the ecchi and lolicon related images.
- "the images are too borderline to be accepted as an exeption from our non-acceptance of self-created artwork by non-notable artists."
That is correct: I am a non-notable artist - the same as a thousand other amateurs who have contributed self-created art and photos and to this site - including Niabot and Kasuga, both of whom are amateurs like myself. Obviously, Commons DOES accept "self-made art by non-notable artists", because almost everyone here IS an amateur.
- permanently repeating your right - correctly: your privilege
In response, allow me to quote this section from the FAQ:
- Can I put material on this site?
- Yes, you definitely can! In fact, that's what we want you to do. Just start with the First steps in order to join the project.
In plain English, it means that everyone is entitled to contribute multimedia material to the site - in fact, it is encouraged by the wording of the FAQ. Don't accuse me of "spamming" cross wiki when all I've done is make my work available to the community and posted a few images intended for specific articles.
That said, I'll leave you with one last observation:
These two images - File:Anime Girl.svg and Hadako-tan.png are amateur pieces meant to illustrate the characteristics of Ecchi and Hentai.
This amateur picture Panchira4.jpg is meant to illustrate the characteristics of Panchira in early 60s anime. The illustration is so precise that a number of people (including yourself) mistook it for an actual screencap. The reason why it works so well is that I did the research for this article. Everything in the article - and the picture - is backed up by references and citations I tracked down myself. In short, this picture has just as much educational value as anything else posted on this site.
Thanks, Midnight68 (talk) 15:02, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
- I told you my opinion because obviously you had a wrong impression of what I "approved" or what my opinion is. My answer was intended to correct your wrong statement, not to start a discussion here. --Martin H. (talk) 10:35, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Move category
I noticed that the name of Category:Gopurams is incorrect. Gopuram (without the 's' at the end) is the plural form of the , as can be seen in the WP article.
I do not see any way to make the change, and so suppose that only an administrator can do that. Malcolm Schosha (talk) 13:28, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- Content: It is not so simple as that: it depends on languages: Gopura, Gapura and Gopuram are being used in singular form.
- Method: But you may ask for discussion by putting the template {{Move}} , including the new name you want to propose and the date, on that category page, which will bring it into discussion there. --Havang(nl) (talk) 13:42, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
There is no doubt that "gopuram" is plural, no matter how it is misused in some WP articles. Malcolm Schosha (talk) 14:42, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- There certainly is doubt. Google Books turns up hundreds of cites for "gopurams" ranging from the 1862 Travels in Peru and India by Sir Clements Robert Markham, through the 1910 Encyclopedia Britannica up to the 2001 Concise classified dictionary of Hinduism by K.V. Soundara Rajan and the 2009 A Journey through India's past by Chandra Mauli Mani. And it is undeniably the natural English plural; when a word ends in an m, you add an s to make the plural.--Prosfilaes (talk) 15:53, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Since this is not likely to get resolved, there is another question I want to ask. I uploaded this file [2], from Flickr, and which has an Attribution 2.0 Generic license. But apparently I made a mistake in the upload, and the file is tagged for deletion. Am I going to hove to upload it a second time? Malcolm Schosha (talk) 15:26, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- The article on wp begins with "A Gopuram or Gopura", and extensively uses gopuram for the singular. --Aʁsenjyʁdəgaljɔm11671 15:34, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
The WP article is called "Gopuram" and I do not see why the Commons category should be spelled differently. Malcolm Schosha (talk) 21:11, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
- en_WP uses singular for article titles. Docu at 07:06, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- In fr:Gopura and some other european language wikis, Gopura is singular and Gopuras or Gopuram pluriel. I tend towards Gopuram for pluriel and catname and redirects gopuras and gopurams towards gopuram. --Havang(nl) (talk) 12:27, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

CD cover images
Hello, I'm wondering why each time we try to upload an image of our CD, it immediately gets removed and tagged as a copyright violation; puzzling since we own the label and the rights. Is there something we're not doing correctly when uploading the cover of the disc? Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks, Larry
- Please follow the instructions in the upload form. You either uploaded the file with the upload form "Its entirely my own work", thats this upload form or you selected the upload form its someone else work. In both cases it is clear that an album cover was published before, for this case both upload forms say:
- If[...] the work was already published elsewhere, use {{OTRS pending|month=August|day=8|year=2010}} and send permission by e-mail.
- So you have to copy&paste the text {{OTRS-pending|....}} into the permission field and send an email to our permission system. --Martin H. (talk) 22:54, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm looking to make a couple collages for different articles, and I only want to use photos that are already in Wikipedia Commons. need urgent advice
Dear Sir, My name is Nidhhi Pathak
I want to know can I use image where in permission is granted saying the following when I click the image :-
"I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby release it into the public domain. This applies worldwide.
In case this is not legally possible: I grant anyone the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law."
so does it mean I can freely use this image at least for for non commercial purpose like training and my project work.
Kindly help.
Looking forward to your reply at the earliest.
Thanking you
Regards Nidhhi Pathak
- Apparently there are a few countries in which material cannot legally be released into the public domain. But such a situation is rare, and the author's intent is clearly that there be no restrictions on the image's use. That's what "the right to use this work for any purpose" means. Use of photo - Copyrights.
I tried to find the answer to my question, but I'm afraid I got lost in the volumes of legalese. I would like to update the photo in the article on Richard Armitage (English Actor). The current one is 3 years old. I was wondering if I could use a screen shot from a recent television interview? Or does it have to be a fan photo?

- It has to be a photo that is either public domain - see Commons:Licensing for copyright expiration terms - or published under a free license by the copyright holder. A screenshot of any video that is not published under a free license is not ok. --Martin H. (talk) 14:09, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
O.K. I used a picture taken by a fan which I had permission to use for this purpose. You (Martin H.) tagged it for deletion unless I had the appropriate e-template permission form sent to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. I contacted the owner of the picture who sent the permission form within a couple of hours. This all took place on the 5th of August and the photo is still tagged for deletion and NO ONE has answered any e-mails requesting an explanation why this tag has not been removed. What is is going on? KiplingKat (talk) 23:53, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
And no one is talking to me here too. Thanks, thanks a lot. KiplingKat (talk) 22:48, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

- I guess so. I finally heard back from someone this morning. They have a backlog of five weeks to process permission forms. I appreciate everyone's hard work on this site, but I just needed to know what was going on. Maybe they should include a note on the permissions instruction page that it takes a long time to process. Gallery creation difficulty.
I tried to create a gallery of the images I uploaded, at a directory under my own username, here: Odea/Gallery, by including both {{user category|Odea}} and [[Category:User categories|Odea]] statements.
I thought inclusion of either of these would trigger the Commons to automatically show pictures uploaded with my username, but this has not happened. I can't work out what I am doing wrong, and any help would be appreciated. Thank you. --Odea (talk) 12:08, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- Just use the Gallery tab at 7th position on your tab bar. Or do you think about another possibility? Then check as an example source text here, Gallery (a selection), Category:Pictures_by_Chriusha. -- Хрюша ?? 12:51, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for replying but, yes, I was thinking about another possibility, like this user's gallery: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Images_by_Herby
- I cannot reproduce that with my own pictures. --Odea (talk) 13:57, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

When I enter {{user category|Odea}} at my page, none of my pictures appear. Do I need to tag all of my individual pictures with some code or tag to make them appear when I use {{user category|Odea}}? Category:Pictures by Odea

financial, statistical diagrams
Hi folks,
1) I would like to upload a couple od "financial, statistical diagrams". however, I have not foumd a cathegory like >financial, statistical diagrams< or >statistical diagrams<.
2) these diagrams are up to free, public use of course. Yet, should or could I Put a signature like "gs" on it saying it's yours but I am proud of having it done.
pls advice Gerd Schroeder
- Files like this will not be categorized by what they are (statsitical diagrams) but what they show. If they are usefull to illustrate an educational publication about what the diagrams show you may upload them. Please provide good descriptions. --Martin H. (talk) 16:59, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- See Category:Economic diagrams, Category:Financial economics, and Category:Diagrams by theme. As Martin H. says, we can only decide on categories if we know what the diagrams depict. The category structure on Commons is large but not yet fully complete. Sometimes a file needs a new category, but first one should be sure one has searched the existing categories exhaustively. You can make a category scheme page for your subject of interest if none exists yet; that will help you and other users categorize files in your topic of interest. --Teratornis (talk) 19:52, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- You should of course identify yourself as the creator on an image's page on Commons. That is necessary for verifying the license terms. But you should not sign the image itself, as that will usually not have encyclopedic value. Where the image appears on one of the Wikipedias, the image will link to its image page where users can see the creator's name. --Teratornis (talk) 19:54, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Need help adding category to image
Hi, i received a note saying that an image i uploaded is uncategorised. I have no idea how to add a category. Can someone give me a step-by-step guide as to how to do this? The image is Markcollard.jpg on the Mark Collard page.— Preceding unsigned comment added by In2play (talk • contribs)

Looking for help
We are looking for help in deleting a Hoax flag ...the user is currently blocked on main wiki for this reason..
File in question has been deleted 2 times already as seen on the users talk page talk (link above)--- File in question is -->File:Proposal.flag.for.americas.PNG..Thank you for your time.216.106.109.69 06:45, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- An article on the subject has been deleted, not the file itself, and the user was blocked on en.WP for inappropriate placement of the file, not for the file. Given that Zoofari created and uploaded the SVG version, I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt; the PNG is a little harder, but it does seem to fit in the range of items permissible for use in user space. I guess we could replace the usages of the PNG with SVG and delete the PNG, but that doesn't exactly help your problem. I think you're best off not worrying about the image and dealing with the user behavior.--Prosfilaes (talk) 07:00, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Great solution....with the fictitious or proposed but not adopted tag. I believe we have solved the problem on your end and we will deal with the editor on ours. Our problem was that it was reaming in the article as only someone with knowledge of the topic would know its fake - but now with the "tag" it is clear to all its fictitious and should be removed from articles immediately.......... question on templates
I don't know if it's the right place to ask this question here, but I don't see any other. I would like to upgrade {{Depicted person}} so that we can put {{depicted person|Toto|Tutu|Tintin}} and get "depicted persons: Toto, Tutu and Tintin" in the user default language. What I would like to know is: is there a simple way to automatically display "and" between the last and the last but one parameter when the number of parameters is not fixed ? For the rest, I think I can do it myself (it's quite easy to get plural when there are more than two parameters and there is an "and" parameter that automatically translates "and" in the desired language). --Zolo (talk) 11:32, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- You should certainly mention this at Template talk:Depicted person, but you may not get much of a response there. I've looked at the template but don't quite see the point. As far as I can tell, it's used to provide a translatable field title for other templates. I can see why you might want to make it pluralizable instead of always singular, but I don't see why you'd need to pass it specific names. Powers (talk) 13:57, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll ask there.
- I've used the template in the "notes" field of {{Painting}}. It may not be the way it was intended to be used, but I'm not the first one to do that and it's quite convenient. The plural is not much of a problem. I can do something similar to {{tl:Template:Catalogue}} (it may not be the best way to do it but it works). The only thing I don't know how to do is write {{depicted person|Helleu|his wife}} (here) and get: depicted person: Paul Helleu and his wife. I know I can add the "and" manually, but the template would certainly be simpler to handle if it's done automatically. And the same device could be used in a few other templates as well.--Zolo (talk) 14:16, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Try it out now. Rocket000 (talk) 19:13, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Photos by USMA on Flickr
I have seen in several cases photos which have been released into the public domain as a result of the employee being in the US military, and I came across these photos (http://www.flickr.com/photos/dannywild/with/4221486846/) and I was wondering if something similar applied, due to the credit being "Danny Wild/USMA"? There's a few that could be uploaded if that's the case. Thanks for any help and / or guidance, I appreciate it. Canada Hky (talk) 01:04, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- He may be a student or a staff member of the U.S. Military Academy, but the photos would only be in the public domain if he was working in an official capacity when taking the photos; that is, if part of his job or other responsibilities at the academy is taking photos. The simple credit line "Danny Wild/USMA" does not necessarily imply that he was working for the Academy when he took the photos. Powers (talk) 17:16, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

- I dont know exactly what you mean.
- If you mean the description text in the image description: With an interwiki link, to use an interwiki link in the text you have to use it with an leading colon and a "pipe" to prevent the language code to show up, e.g. [[:en:George Washington|George Washington]] gives George Washington.

Combination of nsd and nld?
I just found an image with nothing except a single sentence of a description, lacking both source and license, so I tagged it with {{Nsd}} and {{Nld}}. Is there any single template that I could use to indicate both problems? Nyttend (talk) 01:13, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- If there was, the template documentation for one or both templates should (ideally) have a See also section that links to it. But the documentation for both of those templates looks very minimal - as with many templates on Commons, neither one uses the {{Documentation}} template yet. Also look in the category(ies) containing those templates. The only relevant category seems to be Category:Problem tags, so if the template you want exists, the author should have put it there. In any case, I think it is better to use two separate templates to indicate two separate problems. That way if an editor corrects one problem, but not the other, the editor can remove the applicable template and leave the other template to indicate the outstanding problem. --Teratornis (talk) 19:19, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Download from Commons?
Although I have uploaded some images to Commons I have never tried to download from Commons. The Flickr and Picasa sites have download buttons with the files, but if there is any such button with Commons files I do not see it. What is the best way to download images from Commons? There was, in this case, just one image I wanted to download. Malcolm Schosha (talk) 13:11, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- It's very easy: just click on the image and once more on the image to have it alone on screen and treat it as a windows file: "...save as". That's all. --Havang(nl) (talk) 13:22, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
- The link that says "Full resolution" works as well. There's also a gadget available in your user preferences to provide links to variously-sized thumbnails of the image. Powers (talk) 15:43, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
Is it possible to upload this image?
Hello, I found this image http://a7.idata.over-blog.com/300x750/1/93/30/42/21/Saint-Ir-n-e-de-Lyon.jpg and would like to use it in Wikipedia. I don't know who took the photo, but this image can be found on a dozen of internet sites and blogs (http://a31.idata.over-blog.com/258x700/3/17/72/22/irinaeus.jpg , http://www.k-istine.ru/apologia/apologia.htm , http://www.pravoslavieto.com/life/08.23_sv_Irinej_Lionski.htm etc.). Since it is a photograph of an icon (so I guess it is a photo of an original work, not an original work itself), can there be a way to upload it here? Maybe if it is cropped first or something? Thanks, Kpant (talk) 21:52, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- Do you know how old the icon is? Jonathunder (talk) 22:46, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- No, I don't. I assume it's less than a century old. To be precise, it's a fresco painting, and so far, I have never heard of someone claiming rights over a specific icon (or fresco painting). Furthermore, it is very common for icon painters to use existing icons as models for the new ones. Because the value of an icon it's not the inventiveness of the painter, i.e. the uniqueness of the representation. I hope I answered in the right direction. Thanks for your help! Kpant (talk) 12:18, 13 August 2010 (UTC)
- If its age is unknown but it is likely less than a century, it should not be assumed to be in the public domain. More needs to be known here before it could be considered for upload. Jonathunder (talk) 12:38, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

programming templates
I 'm trying to upgrade {{Technique}} so that it can support several technique and I have a probably naive programming question. Currently, we can write {{template|oil|canvas}} the template finds "oil" in a "switch" list, and returns "oil on canvas" in the user's default language. What I would like to do is create another parameter so that we can write something like {{template|oil|and=gold|canvas}} and get "oil and gold on canvas".
One solution is to write {{#if: {{{and|}}}|{{{and}}} and duplicate the switch list. But as the list is quite long, it's not very convenient. So I would like to know is : is there a mean to use the same switch list for several parameters without having to duplicate it ? I need help with Copyrights
To explain in general, my boyfriend and I both go out to take pictures of local areas to update the towns’ wikipages (we are both interested in expanding information on regional areas). He is not very computer savvy so I am the one that post the pictures (and edits entries on wikipedia). We basically work as a team to do this. Some of the pictures I take on my camera and some of the pictures he takes on his camera.
My question is, what copyright do I use when I upload his pictures because I want to make sure his name is on the ones he took? He has given me permission to use all of his photos on wikipedia & Commons and if someone uses it they give him credit. I've tried to figure out what copyright that is and I'm new here so I need some guidance.
Thank you!
L.N.farm (talk) 18:15, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- If he took the picture, he owns the copyright, if you took the picture, you own the copyright. Depending on the country where you took the photographs, the copyright of the things that you have photographed will play a role (see freedom of panorama). As the copyright owner of the photographs, you may publish them under any license you like. If you want to be attributed, Creative Commons Attribution (CC-by) is a good choice. If you want to make sure that others creating new works based on your photograph use the same license, you can use Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike (CC-by-SA). Licensing has further information on which licenses are allowed here. All acceptable licenses have in common that anyone may use your photograph for any purpose. When uploading the image you will get a choice of licenses (near the bottom of the upload form), just select the one you want to use. In the author field, you can put the author, that is, either your friends name or your own. For your own images you can also fill in your user name as the author. This should get you started, best regards, --rimshottalk 22:34, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Question on license type to use for image from multiple sources (collab between US Fed contractor+US Fed govt+US academic inst.)
I am being lazy, please forgive me, the reading required to understand licensing seems daunting.
My question: Which license type should I use while submitting an image I created while working for a US federal govt institution/NIST while the subject of the image belongs to a US academic institution/Carnegie Mellon, purchased from a Federal govt contractor (Sandia natl. labs-under dept of energy contract)? The license should grant all the four freedoms with the only restriction being a mandatory citation (a url/link) to the original Wikipedia source where the image is posted.
(This restriction is necessary since the subject matter of the image can be misconstrued without the documentation required to interpret the image. I am still in process of determining if the image can be cleared for release by the Fed institutions, however there is no reason it should not be.)
Thanks in advance!
Sid
- In general, you retain no copyright to an image you created as an employee of the federal government. The only copyright concern, then, would be the copyright to the underlying subject of the image, but no one here can comment on that without knowing what the item is. Image update request
Could someone please place File:RupiasIndias2.png as a new version of File:RupiasIndias.png...
Thanks, Virtualage (talk) 17:44, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- I think in this case it may be better to leave it under a separate filename. Then we can offer the image both with and without the transparent background, and re-users can choose which one they like better. Please update File:RupiasIndias2.png to include the necessary license and derivative-work information. Powers (talk) 18:38, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Harvard yearbook
What's the copyright status of photos from old Harvard redbooks? I think I've seen these kinds of photos used on Wikipedia before. Specifically, I'm working on an English wiki article on Tadeusz Adamowski who attended Harvard in the early 1920's and was wondering whether his yearbook photo here could be used in the article. Thank you.Radeksz (talk) 01:15, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Anything first published prior to 1923 in the US is out of copyright in the US and thus its home country. Works first published in the US until 1964 are out of copyright unless they were filed for copyright and properly renewed, which I find highly unlikely for a yearbook (you can do a rough check with [4]).--Prosfilaes (talk) 03:27, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- So photos from the 1922 yearbook are ok to upload and use in English Wikipedia articles?Radeksz (talk) 03:44, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Exactly. There might some very rare cases, where this does not apply (if the photo was first published outside the US)--DieBuche (talk) 15:27, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Wrong
File:Biserica de lemn din Radaseni9.jpg. What is it wrong? Cezarika1 (talk) 07:22, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- The problem is, that you have written you name as author. You may have taken the picture, but you are most likely not the author of the painting. So you should provide the name of the person who has painted the picture. This also helps to find out if the painting is old enough to be sure that there is no copyright on the painting any more. Into the date-field, you should write the date when the painting was painted. Also wite the date always like this: YYYY-MM-DD (example: 2010-08-19). Amada44 talk to me 07:36, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- This painting is on the wall of a church built in the seventeenth century. I do not know how old is painting.
- I suggest you delete all photos of buildings built since 1940 worldwide because the architect has the copyright. isn't true? Cezarika1 (talk) 07:59, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, that is a real problem. For Romania see here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Freedom_of_panorama#Romania . In some countries its okay, and in some its not okay so this really depends on the law in the country you take the image. Amada44 talk to me 08:13, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- In the country with FOP, the architect or the painter or other artist lost their rights? Cezarika1 (talk) 08:33, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- No, there it is allowed to take a picture if something is displayed in public grounds and it is also allowed to publish that picture without asking the original author but the author still has the copyright. Amada44 talk to me 08:42, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

The church is a public place, no? The painting on the walls of a church isn't in a public place? If the painting is newer, it continue to staz in a public place. Why can't be reproduced if the painting is in a public place? Cezarika1 (talk) 09:00, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, but that is only for countries with FOP. For Romania it says: Per the Romanian copyright law of 1996, images of architectural works, of three-dimensional works of art, of photographic works or of works of applied art permanently located in public places may be published only for non-commercial uses or if the work is not the main subject of the image.
- This means:
- only non-commercial use and that is not allowed on commons.
- Do some research on how old that painting is an who the author could be. And about the FOP, please don't complain here, complain at the Romanian law!!! Amada44 talk to me 09:28, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Vectorization : how to know if somebody is already performing a task ?
Hello to everybody here ! I'm a newbie on Commons (although I have XP on some wikis), and I would like to help the community by vectorizing a few raster images. I wanted to know for instance if somebody had started to take care of the Barcelona metro map. How can I know if somebody is doing / already did it ? Thanks pals ! Arnaud.ramey (talk) 14:36, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- (Commons:Help desk would probably be a better place for such questions) If someone has done a svg of it, it should be indicated by a template in the file's description ({{vector version available|newFileName.svg}}) instead of the current template which encourages to create a svg. Also you can check Special:WhatLinksHere/File:Metro_Barcelona_Map.png to see links from svg poiting to this file as the source file - no svg links to it, too. So just start right away. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 14:46, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, and you can have a look in the Category:Public transport maps of Barcelona, too - in case someone forgot to link the raster and vector versions. In addition you could check the articles in which the png is in use for interwiki links and check if a svg version is in use in those other language versions whhich do not use the png. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 14:56, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

- OK, thanks for both your answers ! The vectorization is done now, don't hesitate to leave feedback. The file is available on File:Metro_Barcelona_Map.svg. Arnaud Ramey (talk) 17:58, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Ow, and one more question : Commons:Top 200 images that should use vector graphics by usage is pointing to the original PNG version. Should I remove it from the list ? Arnaud Ramey (talk) 18:17, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- Perhilion, you can also simply write above the "please convert to SVG" box that you are working on it - maybe in bold letters. No need to have a template for everything. ;)
- According to the history of the list it is auto updated every now and then and you can but do not need to remove "your" file.
- Well done - although I am admittedly really no svg expert. I removed the external raster image (reference to a file on your computer) you had embedded. That's the reason why it didn't render here ("<image sodipodi:absref= .......") and added "bold" font style to "Provenca" station - like in png. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 00:55, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

- Thanks, it looks great now ! I will take care of the raster ref next time :) Arnaud Ramey (talk) 07:03, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Copyleft attribution?
I'm new to this, so please forgive what may be a very elementary question.
I've been collecting various photographs and have credited each as was specified (so far, author's name and either "cc-by-2.0" or "public domain," with a link back to the Wikimedia page). However, yesterday I discovered a photo (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Cormeilles_en_parisis_54_broken_statue_%28the_rape%29.jpg) that does not use the Creative Commons language that I'm familiar with (cc/by/sa). In place of the usual licensing section, it reads thus:
"Copyleft: This work of art is free; you can redistribute it and/or modify it according to terms of the Free Art License. You will find a specimen of this license on the Copyleft Attitude site as well as on other sites."
So, how do I credit this photo? I know that "sa" is a version of copyleft, but is it the same? Of the two possible credit lines I've written below, I prefer the second (for style consistency), but I'm reluctant to use it in case it's the wrong license language:
“The Rape” by Jean-noël Lafargue, 2004/Wikimedia Commons/Copyleft
or
“The Rape” by Jean-noël Lafargue, 2004/Wikimedia Commons/cc-by-sa
And if the second version is correct, do I need a specific license version (eg, 2.0)?
Thanks for your help.
˜˜˜
- It's not a CC license; it's under the Free Art License. You need to read the link given: it says it has to be credited as [Name of the author, title, date of the work. When applicable, names of authors of the common work and, if possible, where to find the originals].
Copyleft: This is a free work, you can copy, distribute, and modify it under the terms of the Free Art License http://artlibre.org/licence/lal/en/
- You need to be providing a link to the CC-BY-SA license somewhere, too.--Prosfilaes (talk) 21:28, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
uploading from youtube.com
May I use video from youtube.com to upload to commones? Thank you. Best, Salmon1 (173.70.147.242 17:52, 19 August 2010 (UTC))
- In most cases: strongly no! Exceptions: It is a self-made video by you or the video needs to be free of copyright by its authors. This is for example the case if the video is made by an author who died more than 70 years ago. Maybe videos made by the US government are also free to use.
- Please read Commons:Licensing for further information. You could also just post the link/URL to the video here. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 01:04, 20 August 2010 (UTC)

Publishing images for a magazine
Hi! Can I publish in my magazine in Brazil some or ANY picture i find in Wikipedia Commons? If i need a license to publish it, what should i do? If I simply can download them and publish... do i need to write the photografer's name or something like that? How are the pictures here specified for publishing or not publishing (for magazine!)

- Hi Tiff, the conditions for reuse of our images are stated on the images description page. There should be a section "licensing" which contains the conditions for reusing which need to be obeyed when you reuse the image. If you need help with a specific image, just post its name here.
- See also our help regarding this topic: Commons:Reusing_content_outside_Wikimedia (also available in Português: Commons:Reutilização_de_conteúdo_fora_da_Wikimedia).
- If you use some images it would be nice to give the images' authors a link to the magazine (in case it is on the internet).

It is a simple drag and drop application that converts audio files to ogg. I would also recommend you Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) for audio editing. You can probably upload it in year 2122. There may be exceptions (see here) but I doubt we can find a way to use it currently. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 18:28, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, Saibo. So this includes headshots that you pay a photographer to take? Seems odd. --Toodlemom
- Yes, in general this includes photos made by a photographer paid by you to make the photos. Except: You buy not only the photos on paper / jpg-file for your personal use, but you buy all copyrights for this photo by the photographer. I would not say that this could be generally assumed if you contract a photographer to make you an photo for use in your organization. I do not know really since you've said now that the photographer was paid. - The question is for what he was paid.
- Please wait for more answers here first - if nobody knows please ask at Commons talk:Licensing. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 22:40, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- Some jurisdictions have the concept of Work for hire, in which the person or entity who pays for a work obtains the copyright to it. Copyright law is not simple, because it has largely been invented by media companies and their attorneys and lobbyists, etc., rather than by average people who just want to share the occasional photo. Now that computers enable anyone to become a publisher, we have to live by a bunch of crazy laws that have been designed to serve completely different interests, usually big corporations. See COM:EIC#Copyright for more details. --Teratornis (talk) 03:31, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

- The author is the photogorapher of this work, the license is the copyright status depending on the country of origin (country of first publication) of the photo. file must be freely licensed by the copyright holder or the file must be public domain due to copyright expiration. See the list at Commons:Licensing to read about copyright expiration in various countries, in many cases the file will be public domain if the photographer died >70 years ago. From the direct weblink to an image on a website it is not possible to determine the copyright status and if the file is eligible to upload. Iron Mask (band) concert photo
Hi everybody, I need a little consultation. I want to upload a photo, that I made during the concert of belgian band Iron Mask made in Belgium on 22/06/2010 during Graspop Metal Meeting. The problem is, that I'm a newcomer in wikipedia and I can't understand, which parameters to choose while uploading an image. Tnx for concern!Dzimozz (talk) 20:45, 23 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Dzimozz, if you have not photographed any painting or art it's easy. Come back if you need more help and please be more precise on the problem. See the tutorial/help in Commons:First steps/Upload form: To upload click Commons:Upload or use the link in the menu on the left. Then select the appropriate case. "It is entirely my own work" in your current case and follow the steps and fill in all fields after the "=" (e.g. date = ). Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 03:00, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Since you are the creator, and the photo is of persons taken in public where there is no expectation of privacy, you own the copyright and you can release it under any free license you like, such as dual-licensing under {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} and {{GFDL}}. If you don't care about preserving any rights, you could release it to the public domain with {{PD-user}}. However, see COM:PEOPLE to read about personality rights, which may or may not apply (only your attorney knows for sure). The other question is how to categorize the photo. There is a Category:Metal bands by genre where photos of Iron Mask could probably go in some sub-category. I am not familiar enough with metal music genres to know the best sub-category. If you are not sure, you could ask on Wikipedia:WikiProject Metal's talk page. Read the instructions starting with Commons:First steps. --Teratornis (talk) 03:09, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Country-specific help
Hi there. I'm looking to transfer a photo from the Italian Wikipedia over to commons, but I don't speak Italian, and am therefore not in a position to verify the licence. Where might I go to seek help on this? For reference the file in question is located here. Thanks in advance, WFCforLife (talk) 01:57, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Google and Commonshelper help. But: If you view the file's page and scroll down a bit you should clearly see a warning: "Do not move this file to Wikimedia Commons without adequate review!" - In English. And according to the image's description we know nearly nothing, according to the article of the object it's about 20 years old - maybe just old enough for the italian copyright law to be in public domain there (simple photograph). Long story short: don't transfer it. Regarding your question where to ask the next time: I do not know - ask fellow wikipedians (best: italians ;-) ). In de.wikipedia we have set up a page for such requests (for files to be used in de.wikipedia articles) just recently. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 02:48, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

Somebody with bot(s) should change all links from this to this. EJavanainen (talk) 07:57, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- Strongly no! The svg is clearly inferior. See the bright stripes on the tail. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 12:51, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- Ok then. EJavanainen (talk) 16:47, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
US: post-1923 but author died 70+ years ago.
Specifically I have a question about File:Central Europe, 919-1125.jpg. According to [5], "the author died 70 years ago" clause only applies to published works that were first published post 1978. And yet the applied tag {{PD-old}} clearly lists the US as one of the countries allowing for works where the author died 70 years ago. For that matter, this clause could present a real problem for commons, because it looks like this also applies to works published abroad, but images have to be PD in the US to be here, so there may be a lot of images we might have to delete. Magog the Ogre (talk) 22:09, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- Correct; just because an author died more than 70 years ago, doesn't mean their works are out of copyright in the US. In the case of the map you're pointing to, fortunately, it was a US work that was not renewed. The fact that this applies to non-US works is well known; however, it's also frequently and institutionally ignored, as shown by {{Not-PD-US-URAA}} and all the images in Category:Works copyrighted in the U.S. and Category:Works possibly copyrighted in the U.S..--Prosfilaes (talk) 05:21, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Can you tell me how you've determined that the copyright wasn't renewed? I'd like to know so I can withdraw my deletion nomination on en wikipedia. Also, thanks for your response! Magog the Ogre (talk) 08:02, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
Upload gives error in SVG file, but SVG is valid
I made a SVG-version of File:Jersey blue dotted.png, as a derivative of File:jersey_polkadot.svg, and tried to upload it. My version is in the collapsed box below.
Full SVG code, but not too big |

<!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.0//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-SVG-20010904/DTD/svg10.dtd"> <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" version="1.0" viewBox="20 10 210 180"> <defs> <pattern id="pattern3947" patternUnits="userSpaceOnUse" width="30" height="30" patternTransform="rotate(45)"> <circle cx="19" cy="19" r="7" style="fill:#00f;" /> </pattern> </defs> <path style="fill:url(#pattern3947);stroke:#000;stroke-width:2.5;stroke-dasharray:1,0;" d="M 10,47 L 25,87 L 65,62 L 75,187 L 175,187 L 185,62 L 225,87 L 240,47 L 190,12 L 162,12 C 138,27.48 112,27 87.5,12 L 60,12 L 10,47 z "/> </svg> |
It is Valid SVG according to the W3C validator, but commons won't let me upload the file, as "The uploaded file contains errors." How can I find out what is wrong and how can I solve this?--EdgeNavidad (talk) 09:35, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Try inserting this code on the first line:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
The uploaded file contains errors, what to do?
I've been trying to upload two new images to commons today. Both uploads have failed and I've received the error message "The uploaded file contains errors." for both files. However the files open and work okay on my computer and I've been able to upload images from the same camera on earlier days with no problem. I also haven't edited the jpgs in any way, just taken them straight from my camera. How can I find out if there really are errors in my pics or is this a commons bug of some sort? And if there indeed are errors, are there any ways to find & fix them, because I have no opportunity to take new images of the same subjects? --Albval (talk) 10:27, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, seems that the same issue has been asked above. I guess this is a bug in commons' end, then. --Albval (talk) 10:28, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- yup, lets all wait for Wikimedia to recover from the bug. Anikingos (talk) 10:49, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- some more here (on the german discussion page) http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Forum#.22Die_hochgeladene_Datei_ist_fehlerhaft..22 It definitely is a server problem, as i tried to use different file formats, file tools, browser to upload and always get the nonsensical message that my file is broken (i get it in german, actually ;) --Sirleto 13:01, 27 August 2010 (GMT+1)
- Same to me.--Kürschner (talk) 12:24, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- A few minutes ago I successfully uploaded 2 pix that failed earlier. Maybe the problem was repaired. Jim.henderson (talk) 12:50, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, it's ok-- Kürschner (talk) 13:17, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

--EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:03, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
Image revert help
Could someone please revert [6] to the 13 oct 2008 version. I would do it my self, but I have forgoten how to. The version in use now is incorrect. Thanks in advance.SelfQ (talk) 23:27, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
- It was just previously reverted. Please ask the user who did it - or otherwise: tell how I should verify that "your" version is the correct one. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 02:05, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- I did ask the user who made the change, but he claims he never made any changes, despite evidence to the contrary. As for proof that the original version is correct, please see the aritcle on the flag of the Netherlands. (Batavian Republic section)SelfQ (talk) 22:01, 28 August 2010 (UTC)
- Strange he does not know what he has done. I reverted for you (as in File:Flags of the Batavian Republic.jpg). You should also have revert links in the file history on the left. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 13:21, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Problems while uploading
I was going to upload new versions of the NHC hurricane advisories, but it says that the uploaded image contains error, however i checked the image and there are no errors, could you tell me why it says like that, well i think it is a server crash anyway, but im not an expert. Anikingos (talk) 10:01, 27 August 2010 (UTC)
- Did it work in the meantime? I saw you uploaded File:07L 2010 5day.gif since.
- What's the exact error message you got?
- BTW, you seem to overwrite the image without updating its description. Please try to keep them in sync. In general it's preferable to upload different images under new names. Docu at 12:05, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- This is what has been done with the NHC hurricane advisories for several years now. We update them in place to make the file the most recent advisory and update all the Wikipedias at the same time. Since these files are used to show the current hurricane state, and I don't know of a single case where a particular advisory has been pulled out and is being used on its own, this is the most efficient way to do things.--Prosfilaes (talk) 16:20, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- If this is done, the file description page shouldn't be kept specific to one version of the image. Docu at 19:12, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

Public domain AND trademarked - is that possible?
This corporate logo claims it "does not meet the threshold of originality needed for copyright protection" but also claims to be trademarked. Does that mean anyone can create a derivative copy and use it in any way they wish, or has the uploader lied about its copyright status in uploading it here? Astronaut (talk) 04:08, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- w:Trademark#Comparison_with_patents,_designs_and_copyright and Commons:Non-copyright_restrictions#Trademark_law attempt to describe the relation between copyright and trade mark. The later restricts derivatives and uses of the image independently of the question whether the uploader correctly assessed the originality of the image. Docu at 04:30, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
