Request for account creator.

[edit]

Hello Crats, per User talk:Zhuyifei1999, I need to rollback over 15k edits, and need my rate limit removed again (this time, I'm humbly requesting for no expry to be set on the permission) Hopefully, I can find time to start geting chuckbot working, but that's at least 3 months out at this point. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 16:34, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

What edits need to be rollbacked? Why isn't this done by a bot? Krd 16:40, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All edits made by the bot in the last 2 weeks. No bot is setup to handle this kind of task. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 16:44, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And you intend to do this by hand? Krd 16:46, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I Intend to use the Mass rollback script I used for WLKbot. (this is about 1/6th as many edits, so has 0 chance of any lag/server issues occurring) All the Best -- Chuck Talk 16:49, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
So if we already have a script, we don't we use a bot account? Krd 16:52, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The script is a tool that's similar to cat-a-lot. If we want to run it from a bot account, just grant IPBE and the bot flag to User:Chuckbot, and I'll run the script. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 16:55, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Will the script set the bot flag if run by a bot account? --Krd 17:14, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If unsure please try. Krd 17:17, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
 Doing… All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:17, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd, can you copy my global.js to chuckbot? I don't have IPBE on meta. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:20, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Unable, I don't have editinterface at meta. Krd 17:29, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
test complete All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:34, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As expected, it doesn't. :-( Krd 17:34, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What would be needed to make the script set the flag? All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:36, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know. Perhaps it's not even possible. We either can accept that, or write a real bot script. Krd 17:37, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It does appear to be possible, we just need to add bot=True to the API call, but I can't figure out where in the script the appropriate API call is. (I have a copy of the script in userspace, I support granting you IA for the purpose of editing that script.) All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:52, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'd be quicker to follow if you could provide links. Krd 17:56, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
User:Alachuckthebuck/massrollback.js, and the API call. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:59, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps something can be added in line 82, "var params = {};"? No idea what exactly. Krd 18:02, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, do I understadt corrently that FlickreviewR 2 ran into some rate limit, and that lead to false positive reviews? Has FlickreviewR 2 been stopped? --Krd 17:39, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, it has not been stopped. Flickr made some API changes to avoid people embeding fickr files on their sites. Flickr wants them hosted locally to reduce server load. This (unfortunately) does not consider our use case. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:45, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway this should in no case lead to positive reviews, should it? Krd 17:49, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, unless Flickr whitelists requests from the toolforge servers at equiad. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:50, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@AntiCompositeNumber, Do you have anything to add? All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:54, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Are we sure we din't have any false positives before? Krd 17:57, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd The discussion so far has been at User talk:Zhuyifei1999#FlickreviewR 2 getting 403'd by Flickr. FlickreviewR 2 is currently running but not expected to function, though it is checking every 15 minutes to see if there's still an error. There's no particular urgency here as I don't expect things to be fixed especially quickly, though we'll see. As far as bot rollback goes, I've not been able to get it to work recently either on a non-bot account. Probably better to use a bot account. AntiCompositeNumber (talk) 18:01, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@AntiCompositeNumber, do you have any ideas on how to adapt my script my script to raise the bot flag? or should I just run the rollback from Chuckbot as is? All the Best -- Chuck Talk 19:12, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd, Am I ok to continue testing with chuckbot? All the Best -- Chuck Talk 19:36, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Krd 06:46, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My attempts at using the original of that script at en:User:Writ_Keeper/Scripts/massRollback.js for vandalism have also not worked recently.   — 🇺🇦Jeff G. please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 05:30, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A think there are three relevant options:

  • Do the edits with some account without setting bot flag.
  • Fix the js script.
  • Write an external API script.

What's the plan? --Krd 07:42, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm willing to run the rollback on chuckbot with the current permissions, and run it in batches of 5k edits. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 17:26, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd, Its done. All the Best -- Chuck Talk 18:33, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thx. --Krd 01:30, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

RfA closure?

[edit]

Hi crats', FYI Ratekreel's RfA seems to have completed its course and voting should now be closed. signed, Aafi (talk) 15:21, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
