Translation admin rights

Hello! I'm an admin from SqWiki! Lately I had to deal with a photo campaign for my community and learned along the way that for setting up the translation interface and the upload wizard campaign's detail you needed special rights. A user told me at the Technical Village Pump that I can require those rights for myself if I so wanted for future events.

I already got the Upload Wizard Campaign Editor rights from here. Can I also get the translation admin rights? Or does that require special conditions? - Klein Muçi (talk) 23:40, 10 February 2022 (UTC)

What's the point of this? I personally oppose such a request. They can make an unblock request and that request may or may not be granted. Those rights can be removed at any time, if necessary, for example 2 years later. 4nn1l2 (talk) 09:42, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

The point is same as it is for inactivity removals. For maintenance purposes, clear stats. What's the point in keeping rights on blocked/locked accounts? It's been 2 months, they can simply make a request if they get unblocked and wanted the rights back in future. This is just a maintenance removal, it doesn't determine user's work and future requests. -- CptViraj (talk) 12:02, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

I think TA can be removed by routine after one year. I agree on "clear stats", but I think there is no point to remove it from blocked users earlier than from other inactive users. If I'm mistaken, please advise. --Krd 17:15, 21 February 2022 (UTC)

Of course it is and virtually nothing can be done about it unless Commons or WMF finally ends the nonsense called "IP editing". Changing IP address or finding a proxy isn't a big deal for a person with some technical knowledge. I would say that sometimes it is unavoidable even without the skills, i.e. when one uses a "mobile" service provider. --You know who ;-)

I would like to do some translation work here, so I'm requesting the right to make my work more streamlined. I would also like to support zh-related content translation overall as well, though not going to be strictly sticked to Chinese only. I'm a translation administrator on Meta-Wiki and Wikidata, so I do have some experience with the tool. I would use the right wisely and carefully. Request for translation admin right

Hello, I would like to request for translation admins right on Commons as @Ciell: from Wiki Loves Monuments international team has requested me via mail to take care of the translation tags on WLM international and local competition pages. Regarding experience with this right, previously I had been granted temporary right back in 2018 or 2019 (I can't remember the exact year) on Commons and still have the right on Wikimania wiki. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 16:34, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

To clarify: the WLM-team would like to make progress in updating and improving the online contest information in multiple languages, and it would be great if Bodhi can support us in this. He knows how the competition works, and the roles that different people on the int-team have. For us it would be very helpful to have this one on one connection for the implementation of the translation options. Considering the process of revising, updating and maybe even creating new documents will be taking us several months but the national teams are already preparing for the upcoming year, it would best suit our processes if all could be done concurrently to cause the least disruptions while at the same time improving the pages. GWToolset user right

Hello, please renew my GWToolset user right. I am very well aware that the tool is not anymore recommended [1], however it still work well for me, especially in the extand that I upload files from URLs. OpenRefine is not yet fully ready to make batchuploads, and as far I know a documentation to use the tool in that way is not available.

Requesting removal of (interface/translation) administrator rights from my account

Hello.

Please remove administrator, interface administrator and translation administrator rights from my account. This is due to my inactivity for the past few months.

As I don't plan to completely retire from Commons, please re-grant the pre-adminship rights, if possible. I think I will be able to deal with some of the lighter, non-admin backlogs, such as Iranian LR requests, which have been piling up for quite a while now.

I've been fixing various lint errors on template pages recently and some of these are in pages controlled by the translation tool. I've read the documentation, but never actually used the tool. There were some pages where the lint error in the en page had been fixed and needed doing in the other languagues but can't find them now as someone must have done those now.
