Image Tagging Image:ErnstKaltenbrunner.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:ErnstKaltenbrunner.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you.

We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

If the author is unknown, you can't say the image is PD-old. Files with incomplete or uncheckable source information will be deleted. --GeorgHH • talk 13:09, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- You have to give the source from where you copyed every file, and also you must provide who the photographer was and the date of his death. Please read Commons:Licensing, important for your files is the section License Information.
Information like source: image search or author: unknown photographer are not appropriate to verify the license. --GeorgHH • talk 16:57, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- I understand and to be honest, I spent hours looking for who the photographers were. However, absolutely nowhere does it state who took the photos. The only reason I can come up with is that the photographers weren't credited. Even in the books, it just says "archives" or something of that nature. It's unavailable, so why don't you help me locate who the photographers are, because I don't want the images to be deleted since I need them for wikiquote resources. - Zarbon 18:06, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- To give anyone the chance to help you, you have at least to state the source from where you have copied the images to every file description. You are free to ask for help on the help desk. --GeorgHH • talk 23:06, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- hmmm...well, I said prior that I used the image search. I guess to be more detailed in describing, I'll state which image searches. I used "Google" image search, "Yahoo" image search, and "Lycos" image search. Also, I enabled these > " quote unquote marks around the people's names to get exact results. For example, "Ernst Kaltenbrunner" on google search and you will find the same image there a few times actually, the two of him that I uploaded, for example. In any case, in none of the sites are the images credited. And neither are they credited in books. It's apparent I don't know how to credit them. I just don't think it's best to have the images deleted. Yes, we can search and we might be able to locate the information needed, but lets not delete the images in the timeframe given so that this locating is made possible. Thanks for considering to help me. - Zarbon 04:28, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
- I finally located a reliable resource for these photos. Here it is, so I will add the proper info based on this site and you can further add more info that is needed, for the better and total adjustment of proper tagging. I will let you remove the tags on each and every picture so that you feel its right once all source info is given. Here is the site: http://www.ushmm.org/research/collections/search/ph_catalog.php - Zarbon 03:54, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Re:Kaltenbrunner Image Help
[edit]Hi Zarbon,
sorry, I don't think I can help you with that. I know a bit about German copyrights, but I don't know many sources of German WW2 photos that also contain the necessary author information. Commons and other Wikimedia projects only allow images that are in the public domain or released under a free license by the copyright holder. I guess that all photos of Kaltenbrunner in uniform were taken by German photographers, so you would need to find a photo of him taken by someone who died before 1937 (or get a permission by his heirs). It's quite possible that no free photo of him in uniform exists. --Kam Solusar (talk) 16:53, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I will keep a heads up and any help I can get, I appreciate greatly. Zarbon (talk) 03:29, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Please do not recreate deleted images
[edit]
Your image or other content, Image:Kaltenbrunner.jpg, was recently deleted in accordance with our process and policies. You have recreated this content after it was deleted. Please do not do that. If you would like to contest the deletion, please visit Commons:Undeletion requests and follow the instructions there to have the deletion reviewed.
Recreating deleted content outside of process is not a good idea, and doing so repeatedly may be cause for you to lose the privilege of contributing here. Thank you for your understanding. Herby talk thyme 12:05, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- Please ensure that the licensing of any further images is absolutely solid. You do have an excessive number of deleted contributions. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 13:09, 5 July 2008 (UTC)
- I didn't recreate the image. It was never uploaded before. Please see prior deletions. What I did wrong was upload the image under the same name as prior deleted images. The three new images I had uploaded were merely deleted of recent only because I used them under the same name of previous deleted images, which were completely different images. Please do not delete these images, although they may not have proper and exact information, they have also NEVER been nominated for deletion before and they were never consecutively deleted for the reason of definitive copyright. I am discussing this right now with Kam Solusar, WilliamH, Prince Kassad, and Lupo in order to ensure the exact dates of the images. However, these images were never ever deleted prior in accordance. I will not make the mistake of uploading them under the exact same names though in order to avoid their accidental deletion. Zarbon (talk) 13:15, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

- Bare in mind that I still believe I have done nothing wrong. If you see the history of my page, you will see that it had been that way for a very long time. Why all of a sudden was it wrong for my page to list favorite characters? In any case, I will not re-add all the information because I don't want to break the consensus set forth by the "galleries and categories" section. Zarbon (talk) 07:08, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

Well im blocked from editing.it says another user somehow used my IP address, and you banned them, and i can do anything now --SilverSinspawn (talk) 19:29, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- If another user uses the same computer and gets blocked, you will likely be inadvertently blocked. There's nothing I can do about that. It may be because you have the same ip address and because you may in fact be using the same terminal as that person. It's more than likely, however, that you have more than one ip or user name, which if that's the case, then I really can't help you as a block is meant to ascertain that all people using the terminal are blocked. - Zarbon (talk) 22:40, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Whats An IP address?? And are you suggseting that it WAS me that was using that account? Because i only use my own -.- And unless someones broken into my home and using my laptop,it wasnt me -.- --SilverSinspawn (talk) 06:17, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
- The only thing I am suggesting is that I can't help you if you go through ban circumstances. Lots of people get banned, exceptions are only made when the guilty party waits for their ban to expire. I don't uplift bans. Also, if you were banned (which you are not), you wouldn't have been able to post just recently. I hope this is the last time you bring up something this inconsequential on another wiki; you are officially the only person who has ever asked to be un-banned through another wiki, and I hope it doesn't happen again because I can't go around responding to ban uplifting requests on various unrelated wikis. - Zarbon (talk) 13:31, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
