[edit]Copyright status: File:Canon EOS C70 with Cine Lens.jpg
This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Canon EOS C70 with Cine Lens.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |

File:US timeline. Number of overdose deaths from all drugs.svg
[edit]Thanks for creating this. How did you do it? Is this the source you copied it from?:
Did you create the chart by using the data link and/or powerpoint link in the link section near the bottom of the source page:
-- Timeshifter (talk) 23:57, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yes. It can be saved as SVG in PowerPoint. Just make sure you use Liberation Sans or one of these other fonts that are compatible with wikimedia svg rendering - > https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/SVG_fonts YitzhakNat (talk) 00:09, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info. I figured out how freeware LibreOffice can be used to save the chart as SVG from PowerPoint. I can see the PowerPoint chart in LibreOffice. Then: file menu > export > SVG.
- How do I choose the font in LibreOffice? Actually, it is LibreOffice Impress that opened the PowerPoint file. --Timeshifter (talk) 04:54, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, and OpenOffice Impress can also export as SVG.
- Just select every text in chart and change the font to Liberation Sans or Noto Sans (or whatever else that is accepted here). It should preferably be above 20 points because when it's lower wikimedia doesn't render that svg properly and there are issues with how svg images are showed. YitzhakNat (talk) 13:20, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- I don't see a way to select fonts. I have tried and tried in LibreOffice. Please see:
- Takes a minute to install, along with the help file. Please open this in it:
- National_Drug_Involved_Overdose_Deaths_1999-2020.pptx
- The first slide is the Figure 1 chart in question.
- How exactly do I change the font in that slide before exporting it to SVG? (file menu > export > SVG).
- I will put this info in Help:Table on wikipedia. w:Help:Table.
- People can then convert PowerPoint charts to SVG with the correct fonts that are needed for Wikimedia.
- --Timeshifter (talk) 14:48, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
- You simply select all content in a slide with Ctrl+A and change in the right sidebar Character properties - font, font color, etc.
- To change the font on a chart itself vertical and horizontal axis you need to double click on text elements and then change them separately. As far as I know there is no way to replace all fonts at once. It is very similar on PowerPoint as well. YitzhakNat (talk) 15:36, 31 August 2022 (UTC)
I was able to choose "Liberation Sans" in the dropdown menu. Font size was 24pt in the top text, and 12pt in the bottom text. I exported to SVG. File size was 557KB. Chart looks great in browsers. IrfanView can't view it and says there is an SVG syntax error. I tried uploading the file since it removes the blank spaces in the bottom text in your version. But I got this message: "Found scriptable element 'script' in the uploaded SVG file."
When I download your version of the file it does not open in browsers, except for one greatly expanded corner. Can't scroll to see the rest of the chart. Your file is only 16KB. My file is 557KB. --Timeshifter (talk) 08:26, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- My version of that file is the same universal SVG that I could open anywhere - on inkscape, illustrator, in all chromium browsers without a problem. Yes by default viewbox of that file is very large, so you need to ctrl and - to zoom out.
- I saved it on PowerPoint as SVG and by default it seems to save SVG CSS version - which has selectable text and has way smaller file size.
- What you saved is probably an SVG outline (shape) file where all objects are converted to shapes, so it would explain higher file size.
- I also tried saving SVG from LibreOffice, I could save two types of SVG - outline and CSS versionː
- CSS versionː Ctrl and A in a slide then right click on blue square > Export... > Save as typeː SVG , check 'Selection' > File size was 53.8 KB and file had vertical border in browser along both sides due to it being centered in slide previously. Text was selectable in browser as well.
- Outline versionː all the same steps, except you don't check Selection, the file then saves as Outline/shape version SVG and is 540 KB in file size. YitzhakNat (talk) 13:15, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- right click on blue square. I couldn't find a blue square that led to export. So I used file menu > export. Ended up with 74 KB file. Was able to upload it. I found that I could only get the smaller file size if ctrl-A > Liberation Sans was the last thing I did before exporting. Otherwise, I got large file size even when I checked "Selection".
- So I first removed "Figure 1" in the top text. I narrowed the bottom text so that its outer width matched the table. I couldn't figure out how to narrow the whole slide on the top and left to get rid of the extra white space there. How do I do that? --Timeshifter (talk) 17:33, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- Then you probably need to draw a white rectangle shape below the graph with text and send to back, then select that background shape and graph with text on it and export it. This works on powerpoint, but I just tried on libreoffice and it doesn't, it still exports entire slide. YitzhakNat (talk) 18:48, 1 September 2022 (UTC)
- I did some Google searches:
- Found this free site:
- Uploaded latest SVG chart to it. It worked!
- Then I uploaded the cropped SVG image it provided to the Commons page:
- File:US timeline. Number of overdose deaths from all drugs.svg
- --Timeshifter (talk) 01:41, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

File tagging File:Christopher K. Zarins.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Christopher K. Zarins.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Christopher K. Zarins.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
