Coat of arms/Vaakunat

Why are you uploading coat of arms of Finnish municipalities in jpg format when most of them already have svg or png versions in Commons? Could you also check that image you are uploading doesn't already exist in commons under different name? Image:Tervola.jpg and Image:Tervolan vaakuna.jpg are same.

Sama suomeksi: Miksi tallennat Commonsiin kuntavaakunoita jpg-muodossa? Monista on jo (parempilaatuiset) svg tai png versiot. Voisitko ystävällisesti myös tarkistaa ettei tallentamasi tiedosto ole jo Commonsissa toisella nimellä, esim. Image:Tervola.jpg ja Image:Tervolan vaakuna.jpg ovat samat tiedostot.

Duplicate images

You have added quite many coat of arms and location maps to commons. However many of them are duplicates. So could you please first check if the image already exists. It is also important to categorize and write a description of the images added to commons. So please try to fill the description and put the image in a suitable category. I noticed you've uploaded some images and I thought I should draw your attention to a common error.

Please give uploaded images meaningful names. Otherwise they are difficult to track and it is hard to tell what the image is about without actually looking at it. I noticed you've uploaded one or more images and I thought I should draw your attention to a common error.
Please give some thought to writing a good description of uploaded images. This ensures that they can be used. It also helps those that review and improve categories do a better job, which also ensures that images will get used in novel and interesting ways. Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
