Dear Ohconfucius, I can't imagine even your dubiousness can be so authoritative so that the picture is deleted as promptly as possible. Tell me, which book is this Lowcock pic from? Please do give us some evidence instead of your perceptive conjecture. I am no good Wiki user like you, but please don't be too dominating. -Anonymous.
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. Could you give some more information on File:Woman in orgasm.jpg, especially regarding the consent of the image subject to have the image licensed under a CC license? "Own work" is not really enough when it comes to sexually explicit images of clearly identifiable people. --Conti|✉ 19:44, 11 March 2013 (UTC)
- I deliberately chose that image because I did not feel she was "clearly identifiable". Maybe our definitions differ. I'm not sure that I can disclose any more; nor that the 'model' would want to be identified in any way. Just as a side note, I see that it's been quite a popular choice across all language 'pedias, but delete it if you feel that existing permissions are insufficient. --Ohconfucius (talk) 02:59, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- Alright, I nominated the image for deletion. Feel free to comment at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Woman in orgasm.jpg. --Conti|✉ 11:56, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

It is indeed a good idea to spill the beans about the increasing signs of pre-emptive removal of media that could be perceived as self-censorship which you've experienced during your turbulent sojourn on Commons. Please feel free to post a message in this context on my talk page. I'm just another user like you.Hindustanilanguage (talk) 16:39, 16 April 2013 (UTC).

Your comment at the de-bureaucrat discussion
[edit]Hi Ohconfucius, your comment at the de-bureaucrat discussion appears to be incivil, in particular the last sentence. You are very much welcome to give your vote and opinion to such cases but please do it in a civil and mellow way. If you want to express that you want to see someone being excluded from this project, just say so. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 10:07, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- You could have just removed the offending phrase, instead of the whole *^^%#ing text. --Ohconfucius (talk) 14:46, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Ohconfucius, I did not remove it, another admin did. I just endorsed the removal when another editor chose to quote from the redacted text. And it is, if I may add this, always a problem to redact such a comment. If just a part is removed, we have a shortened comment and a signature that no longer match. Hence, I understand that the redacting admin felt more comfortable with removing the entire statement, leaving just the vote and its summary in bold. You are then always free to reformulate your statement in a way that avoids the offensive part as you did now. Regards, AFBorchert (talk) 14:58, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. I don't necessarily agree with you, in several senses. Whilst I tried to be as specific as possible and address the situation, I did not feel I had issued a personal attack. As it was the last part you found offensive, I still feel you could have removed it. My reinstatement was along those lines and, yes, it's not as good or powerful as the original, but hey, it'll do. Again, I see no problem with someone quoting me, as it wasn't a defamation or a personal attack. In any event, the person quoting seemed to have analysed just how it wasn't a personal attack. You guys are probably over-sensitive by how "overblown" this has gotten, but you weren't sensitive enough to predict that Commons would have been exploited by a 'crat as a vehicle to perpetuate a dispute with the founder. --Ohconfucius (talk) 05:48, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:XJP cutout.JPG. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:6489 memorial 2021 – no entry to Vic Park.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:6489 memorial 2021 – no entry to Vic Park.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar.
