OTRS

[edit]

Vielen Dank! --Wikiwal (talk) 23:14, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they are covered by that ticket. I've asked the deleting admin to restore the images. Nthep (talk) 17:00, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot! I'm happy to see them back. Best wishes, --Wikiwal (talk) 19:33, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons from Flickr, File:Matt Klopot - 2014-04-25 - Iggy Azalea @ Danforth Music Hall 017 (14049980184).jpg, has been reviewed by an administrator or reviewer and found available on Flickr under the license Noncommercial (NC), No derivative works (ND), or All Rights Reserved (Copyright), which isn't compatible with Wikimedia Commons, per the licensing policy. Unless the Flickr user changes the license to one that Wikimedia Commons accepts, the file will be speedily deleted. Commons:Flickr files/Appeal for license change has information about sending the Flickr user an appeal asking for the license to be changed. Only Flickr images tagged as BY (CC BY), BY SA (CC BY-SA), CC0 (CC0) and PDM (PDM) are allowed on Wikimedia Commons. Once the license on Flickr is changed, you may replace the {{Unfree Flickr file}} tag with {{Flickrreview}} so that an administrator or reviewer can review the image again.

License migration

[edit]

Hi. I noticed this edit. The use of migration=redundant means that it is not needed to migrate because there is already a cc-by-sa-3.0 license on the file. But in this case there is not. If you want to dual license you should also add {{Cc-by-sa-3.0}} to the file or replace with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-3.0}}. It would be nice if you would dual license your images :-) --MGA73 (talk) 10:11, 12 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

An update from Wiki Loves Monuments UK

[edit]
Thank you for taking part in Wiki Loves Monuments UK
More than 300 people have contributed a total of 4,000 photos to this year's competition and we wanted to say thank you for helping us get this far. The competition runs until the end of September, and you can upload as many images as you want - so feel free to document some more sites. Or why not go through your old images to see if you have any others that could be submitted?

Since you've already submitted some pictures to the competition, you might be interested in the banner mini-contest; to take part you crop your images to a 7:1 and upload a new version. You can find out more about how to do that here. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the competition and share it with others! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 12:24, 22 September 2017 (UTC)}[reply]

Please do not overwrite files with completely different versions; that is a violation of Commons:Overwriting existing files. If the Navy is supplying an updated logo, great, but please upload using a new filename. Overwriting makes the old version unavailable for use, could break attribution path if someone used specific expression from the old file, makes the documented source and history incorrect, etc. If existing usages should be updated, I think you can file a request at User talk:CommonsDelinker/commands. I think you did the same with the bitmap version of the emblem. Can you please revert the changed files to their original versions, and upload the new files with a new filename? It's possible the existing file could be renamed, with a date range of when the emblem was current, with the new filename indicating when the new one started to be used. Possibly then changing the original name into a link to the "current" one. But please don't overwrite basic files, thanks :-) Carl Lindberg (talk) 12:53, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Clindberg: No problem. I only did it this way to avoid having to relink all the articles that currently use the logo and wasn't aware of the delinker request option. Nthep (talk) 14:07, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Great, thanks! Carl Lindberg (talk) 16:52, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

September 2019: it's Wiki Loves Monuments time again!

[edit]

Hi

You're receiving this message because you've previously contributed to the annual Wiki Loves Monuments contest in the UK. We'd be delighted if you would do so again this year and help record our local built environment for future generations.

You can find more details at the Wiki Loves Monuments UK website. Or, if you have images taken in other countries, you can check the international options. This year's contest runs until 30 September 2019.

Many thanks for your help once more! MichaelMaggs (talk) 15:35, 3 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I want to add this image to Indonesian Wikipedia. I have read your message in this image's deletion request on Commons. UK Government replied, "... we would see no objection to its use in this way e.g. as an accompaniment to an article on the Open Government Licence on the Wikipedia site." Does this also apply for Indonesian Wikipedia? Thank you. S Rifqi (talk) 00:00, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@S Rifqi: I don't know the Indonesian Wikipedia fair use policy, nor can I speak for the UK government but I can't see why they would object to the logo being used in another article about the OGL. Nthep (talk) 08:14, 9 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Thanks for uploading File:The Official Visits To The Western Front, 1914-1918 Q2585.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.
