Fukushima Image Request
[edit]I saw you have already done an image for the Fukushima accident page. I thought you might want to contribute another. I had posted a request here:
66.65.191.165 19:55, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
- I took your request and produced File:Fukushima I nuclear accident diagram 1.svg and I hope it suits you fine. Hopefully it will be useful! (It took me a long time to make!) Nesnad (talk) 09:53, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Nesnad,
This is in reply to your request to be informed of use of your video. I work in the Foreign Language Lab at my university. We are currently in the process of creating "culture boxes" of Korea, Japan, China and Vietnam. I used this file in a PowerPoint presentation that will be included in educational material for K-12 education. The PowerPoint covers the traditional holidays of Japan. Thank you for posting this video. 18:24, 26 July 2011 152.20.198.194
- Thanks for telling me! That is so cool :) I hope the presentation is a success, and let me know if you have any questions about Japanese holidays, I can help out. Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 04:07, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

- OOOOOooh GOSH, IP, it's silly baseless claims like this that really frustrate me. I suppose I should be complimented that you think this was made by the Chinese Space Agency, but no, it was made by me. And I wish you would have asked before putting up a delete debate. Nesnad (talk) 07:57, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hello! I have kept this work of you. But please no personal attacks or defamations against others (IPs included). Thanks and I hope more of your animations will vome to Commons. Thanks and happy editing. Regards, High Contrast (talk) 17:45, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. Sorry if it came off as personal attacks, I was just a bit flabbergasted by a few IPs being weird recently, so I was kind of venting. Anyway, cheers, Nesnad (talk) 17:52, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
File deletion warning
[edit]
Hello, I'm Leslie Caron's assistant. It seems one of your pictures which represents her appears on the front of her wikipedia page (french version). The name of the pic is : Eiganotomo-lesliecaron-dec1953.jpg
Please, can you delete it? Miss Caron does not like this picture, and it is also very bad for her professional image.
Thanks in advance,
Mariette A.
L. Caron's assistant
- What is it with insane IPs these days? Dear Mariette. Why is that image bad for her professional image and why should it be deleted? There is no reason to delete it, and I don't even know who you are. In fact, I will fight to keep it. Not sure what you are talking about, and not even sure how you can call this a "deletion warning" when it will not be deleted. If you have more details to add, I'd be glad to hear them. Have a great day, Nesnad (talk) 17:23, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
Hi! Please have a look at similar files (article) and other files from this article. Maybe we should ask for a permission or ask the user before. --Polarlys (talk) 21:28, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 12:39, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Nesnadさんへ あなたがwikipediaの『関ケ原の戦い』ページにアップロードした屏風の写真は、岐阜県関ケ原町が所有する画像です。 ただちに削除していただきますよう、お願いいたします。 ---(unsigned comment by user Ns0000)
- No. This is an image that was produced in 1854, which clearly puts it in the public domain by Japanese and international copyright standards. Besides this is a beautiful image that can help preserve the history of Japan, not sure why you would want it deleted even if you have that power? You don't. PS. Please sign your future comments thanks. Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 15:27, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
This image was written in 1854. but, this degital image data it has been selling Sekigahara-town indeed. This case is not copyright, but also proprietary rights in Sekigahara-town. It is possible to secondary use. Sekigahara-town has proprietary rights in the degital image data.
I do not know how do you get this data, so this case conflict the secondary use, please remove. I look forward to your conscience. best regards.
- Please sign your comments. Press the third button on the left (it looks like a pen) on the top menu bar. Sekigahara or anyone else owns no rights on this. It is public domain. Further, why would you want to erase this from history pages? It is simply being used to illustrate history articles. Not sure why that seems bad to you. This will NOT be deleted. Your understanding is appreciated, Nesnad (talk) 18:44, 27 November 2012 (UTC)

[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Skydive-video-formationpractice-2013.ogv. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

File: Jumping_the_Broom2011.jpg (authorship)
[edit]Hello:
My name is George Lyle, and I don't quite know who to contact about this, so I'm writing here.
There is a photo being used for "jumping the broom" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Jumping_the_Broom2011.jpg that has been incorrectly attributed. The photo credit states that a blog called "hipstamatic shots from lisa y lorna" is responsible for the photo.
In truth, I am the person who took that photo and sent it to my friends Roshin and Wyatt for their wedding album. Someone alerted me to this a while ago, but I never knew I could dispute this attribution until now.
I checked the metadata on the photo, and it was taken with my camera (Nikon D1X) and edited on my photoshop (Macintosh Adobe Photoshop CS3).
I can provide more proof if necessary.
I am not a commercial photographer. I'm just a hobbyist. However I would like for this attribution to be fixed.
Thank you,
-George Lyle IV
- George, I sympathize with you. However, there are many people with Nikon D1X cameras and many people with Adobe Photoshop on the Mac. You'll need a lot more than that to establish it as your photo. The original uploaded claimed it as theirs and released in a irrevocable creative commons license. Give more proof? None the less, not sure what the point of your need to claim it as 'yours'? Wikipedia isn't making money on it, you know. Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 04:08, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
I can provide some proof. Where should I send it? I have a dated email to the bride with the original picture.
Also, how would you feel if I started posting items on here as "Nesnad?" No one is making any money on this, so that would be okay, right? I think you know that would not be okay.
I get the sense that you think I'm out of bounds by asking for this. Why would I ask about this one specific picture, and offer to provide proof, if I were just some crazy person? I'm asking for nothing more than what I suspect you would ask for if the roles were reversed.
As I said, if you give me an email address, I'll forward my email to the bride with the original photo attached.
-George
- George, I didn't say anyone should use your name. I was under the impression you said someone used the image with their own name? The problem is that emails can be faked, they are just text files. Do you have several other images of that day (and those people) that aren't currently available online? That would be good proof. Also, higher resolution would be nice too. If you don't have either of those, it does sound a bit like you are making wild claims. Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 10:08, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
Yes, you're right. Emails can be faked. I have two questions, however: One, why would I do such a thing? Two, could I also fake my friend's response? I can send you both the mail I have in my apple mail, and the original GMail. I have the entire folder of photos from that day on an external hard drive.
Why do you have such a hard time believing me, when you, this website and the automated Flickr bot were initially able to take a stranger at their word that the photo was hers? I am offering proof, and asking for no money, just a proper attribution. Meanwhile, the website for "hipstamatic photos" was down, the last time I checked. Did you ever contact them to verify that the work was theirs? Did you ever try to contact the couple themselves?
I keep offering to send you all the proof you need, and yet you refuse to give me an address to send it to.
-George
- I am not saying I don't believe you, George. I'm just not saying I do either. It's quite easy to say anything on the net. And yes, it is quite possible to fake the 'apple mail and the gmail'. I would consider alternative shots from the same camera that aren't available online as adequate proof. Are you saying that is something you have? Will you be licensing the image as Creative Commons after the attribution has changed, if it changes? Or are you asking for it to be deleted? (PS. To address some of your other points, if an image is CC licensed it usually is accepted on good faith to be the work of the licensee. That's just how things are done. And the source website is not down, by the way.) Cheers, Nesnad (talk) 08:18, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
I have an ENTIRE SERIES OF SHOTS FROM THE DAY. I will license the broom jumping photo under the CC license. I've said all of these things already. Again, why do you treat my claim with such disdain when I have an answer to your every question? I've already offered more proof than the "original submitter" ever has. WHERE DO I SEND IT?
-George
- Hi George, as a sign of good faith, provide your email address and I'll contact you. Cheers. Nesnad (talk) 16:18, 22 March 2014 (UTC)
Sure. Contact glyle4 AT yahoo.com

Copyright status: File:Both exits panorama - Takatsu station - August 2014.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading File:Both exits panorama - Takatsu station - August 2014.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.
If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.) If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there. Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you. |
