Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 23:32, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
China flag deletions
[edit]It is not the place of Commons to decide if a flag is historically accurate or legitimate, that is the job of the individual projects that decide to use the files, however in the case of these flags, the files look to be copyvios, are derivatives of copyvios, by a permabanned serial copyviolater and I've deleted them on that basis.--KTo288 (talk) 11:42, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- @KTo288: My deletion nominations ([1][2][3]) are valid as I did highlight the copyvio and what-you-mentioned was part of my explanation of why there's no proof that these flags are freely available (including on the basis of age, because it is inaccurate). I can't imagine anyone wanting a vague-as-possible deletion nomination, do you? Do you criticize that? I made a deletion nomination in case there was something to discuss. You are wrong if you think that I'm going after historically-inaccurate flags, because I just put a {{fact disputed}} with explanation on inaccurate images if they are freely available (like so [4]). --Cold Season (talk) 18:43, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Apologies than, {{Fact disputed}} is absolutely the right way to go with these things normally, reading between the lines I sensed a frustration with inaccurate/fake flags, that it would seem to be unjust. Actually with these ones if you had put them up for deletion by reason of copyviolation with a link to the site they came from, without mentioning, for example " annoyingly many self-designed flags purported as a historical flag." then it wouldn't have appeared that you had an axe to grind, and motivation to do anything but rid us of a copyvio. Anyway and I should have said this in my earlier comment, thanks for picking up on the fact that these were copyvios.--KTo288 (talk) 19:50, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- There's nothing to apologize for. I will leave unnecessary loaded words such as "annoyingly" out of it next time. --Cold Season (talk) 22:25, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- No problem, not really looking forward to next time though. These were obvious copyvios and easy to come to a decision, its going to be tricky now if someone decides to make a version of the flag themselves to replace the ones deleted, based on the design of the flags from that site, but not actually stealing the image from that site. How would we decide between your supposition that the user there created them from his own imagination-in which case the new files would be copyvios. Or if as he said he only based them on existing flags that he saw in a Vietnamese museum, in which case a derivative work inspired by a derivative work of a PD work. I may bury my head and let someone else decide that one. Anyway all the best.--KTo288 (talk) 13:37, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
- I hope I got your questions right. If the source site is unreliable/unavailable and we have to decide for ourselves, then it would be nice to have a reliable reference (like so; this file doesn't even have a source) or some museum identifiers (like a museum name, accession number... like so) for the object, noting that it was the basis for the derivative work. The rest is a gray area, so I can imagine. All the best to you too, Cold Season (talk) 21:14, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for doing this Commons:Deletion requests/File:Yusuf ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Mizzi.jpg. I don't do anything over here or I would have started the process J8079s (talk) 05:08, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
- No problem. This should at least spur the uploader to provide correct information about the uploads or face it getting deleted. If you have anything to add there, feel free to do so. --Cold Season (talk) 16:13, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
Your question
[edit]Hi Cold Season,
I'm innocent.
You guessed right, I've nothing to do with this chinese file, I don't know what happened here. If you find an explanation, I'd be happy to know it !
Best regard from (not cold at all) Paris.--Jebulon (talk) 21:51, 16 October 2014 (UTC)
- I understand. Thank you. --Jebulon (talk) 23:10, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

Please use the {{Creator:Author name}}
to describe the author
[edit]Hello. Please use the {{Creator:Author name}}
(ex: {{Creator:Wang Xizhi}}) to describe the author, so that Commons can easily maintain the information of the authors. Thanks! This is Taiwania Justo speaking (Reception Room) 04:11, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
- Perhaps. But in this instance, it would be later copy of his work and not his own authentic work. Hence the "After Wang Xizhi". --Cold Season (talk) 04:41, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
Share your experience and feedback as a Wikimedian in this global survey
[edit]Hello! The Wikimedia Foundation is asking for your feedback in a survey. We want to know how well we are supporting your work on and off wiki, and how we can change or improve things in the future. The opinions you share will directly affect the current and future work of the Wikimedia Foundation. You have been randomly selected to take this survey as we would like to hear from your Wikimedia community. The survey is available in various languages and will take between 20 and 40 minutes.
You can find more information about this survey on the project page and see how your feedback helps the Wikimedia Foundation support editors like you. This survey is hosted by a third-party service and governed by this privacy statement (in English). Please visit our frequently asked questions page to find more information about this survey. If you need additional help, or if you wish to opt-out of future communications about this survey, send an email through the EmailUser feature to WMF Surveys to remove you from the list.

File:Landing site of Chang'e 4 on the far side of the Moon.tif has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Do not nominate old Chinese paintings for speedy deletion
[edit]and do not revert my edits. Ask any Chinese user and everyone can tell you those paintings do not come from anytime later than 19th century.--Roy17 (talk) 21:10, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- I do not have to "ask any Chinese user" for whatever. You or anyone else need to provide an actual source as provided by Commons:Deletion policy, otherwise the files can not be kept. "Unknown" or any similar general statement is not a source. --Cold Season (talk) 21:14, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- Your action is just like asking people to prove painters of Category:Ancient Egyptian reliefs are dead 70 years ago. No, this evidence is not needed. You can go ahead and ask for that in a DR.--Roy17 (talk) 21:24, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
- Those have verifiable sources. There's a section dedicated to it in the policy Commons:Deletion_policy#Missing_legal_information.--Cold Season (talk) 21:41, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

- Nominating problematic files (which is literally Commons:Deletion policy) is grounds for that? Pff, ok. Bye. --Cold Season (talk) 23:24, 9 September 2019 (UTC)
