How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Question about File:Jisoo on December 3rd, 2019.jpg

Greetings! If you'll take a moment from all the pushups you're doing on your userpage :), I have a question for you about File:Jisoo on December 3rd, 2019.jpg. You did a review of this on 3 January 2021. When I look at the source page (https://offthepage.tistory.com/242), I find "Copyright (c) Off The Page All Rights Reserved" at the bottom. If I look at the metadata on the particular image, I find no information about the copyright holder or its copyright. If I look at the archive.org entry that is closest to that review date (31 December 2020, at [1]), I see no indication that there is any difference in the licensing from what it currently shows, and no indication that it is available under the cc-by-4.0 license stipulated. Thank you for accepting my explanation. You know, if once the photos is taken from different angles, it is also meaningful to prove that this is a photo created by the author (me), of course it will not have any problems with the copyright (because this will certainly be the first publication on the wikicomon itself, not an online copy) and it will definitely belong to Wikipedia. Could you help us out here with an explain?

It's regarding an English Wikipedia vetting of an admin candidate (it involves a photo you approved) which I can't figure out how is under free license (I'm probably missing something), could you help explain? Your time is your own of course but it's a seven-day election so it is time sensitive.

I am messaging you because a contest for a sound logo for Wikimedia is being developed and your opinion as a Wikimedia Commons admin is appreciated. My team would like to know if it is possible for the top finalist sound logos in the contest to have attribution temporarily hidden from public view until all the votes are final? I realize that I cannot modify a file in your personal sub-domain (name space) but I ask you to remove that reference, which might be misleading for some users. Category:Logos

Based on the edit summary of this edit, it looks like you intended Category:Logos to become a meta category. However, it was changed to a redirect. I'm assuming it was temporarily made into a redirect so that SteinsplitterBot could automatically move all the files to Category:Unidentified logos. Now that it appears the bot has finished, I have changed Category:Logos into a meta category. I also undid SteinsplitterBot's edits that moved categories from Category:Logos to Category:Unidentified logos, because it seems to make more sense to me this way. Users with "autopatrol" are trusted and will not edit your userpage without your consent, let alone creating it. Deletion of uploader's username

Hi Minorax. I noticed that in some of your recent edits, you have used a script that removed the uploader's username from the "author" field of the file's information template. Since the author attribution is key to the licensing of files on Commons, this seems very problematic to me. File:Carphenazine.svg is a recent example. Unless I'm missing something, I assume this is unintentional and just an error in the script you're using. Can you have a look and restore the deleted author information where necessary? Thank you. Editing my structures

Hello Minorax, I saw that you have checked my structures with the SVG check, but this completely destroyed the description of for example File:Methyl-glycolate-2D-structure.svg because the Wikidata link is not working anymore. I'm already checking my SVG files before uploading. If you know how to fix this issues, it's fine, otherwise please stop checking my files once again. The "new source layout' (made for Leyo) will come when the PD-chem license is present. It had not been before, but when you now revalidate the file it will come.
Such files I open for edit, change the unsuited license to the correct PD-chem and then validate with the button above, or the link left.

You are talking abour Solvent Violet 8.svg? I checked it, also with the same Igen-version you are using, also with other SVG files from Triphenylmethyl compounds, and it worked correctly. Need a speedy delete

We've got a sock causing issues on en.WP and elsewhere. See Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Justapidiot - this User was indef blocked on WP, and is attempting to cause harm to the reputation of a user on an off-wiki project that is being attacked by this editor who is now impersonating a user from a completely different off-wiki project. Corygelera

I took notice of Corygelera (talk · contribs) after browsing through Category:School children in Nueva Ecija, where some of their uploads reside. Apparently their uploads are similar to the ones by Ramon FVelasquez and Judgefloro. Could Corygelera be another Judgefloro sock? Though that account is no longer worth a worry as the last contribs were more than 5 years ago, I just asked if that account could be eligible for Category:Sockpuppets of Judgefloro.
