Galley model meta info
[edit]Hello, Matthias.
I'm currently working on improving the article on galleys over at English Wikipedia (here's my current sandbox). I came across a picture of your's that I believe is one of the best photos of a galley model that I've seen so far. The angle is very nice, the background is very neutral and the editing on it makes it very well-suited for encyclopedic purposes.
I'm wondering if there might be any more meta info on it, though. Is it supposed to represent any typical period or style of trireme? Any additional information would be excellent.
sincerely,
Peter Isotalo 12:24, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind message. I'm sorry, I photogrphed the model in "Deutsches Museum" Munich. If I remeber correctly there was no additional info at this model. I've scaned my directory from this afternoon, but unfortunatley there was no photo with the description in the museum. Perhaps I can ask in the german wikipedia if somebody can have a look in Munich. MatthiasKabel (talk) 20:11, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- Would you? It would be most helpful if there was more information available about the model.

Copyright question
[edit]Hello Matthias, I am developing a website and am not too familiar with all the copyright jargon. I was wondering if I am able to use your photo of the match igniting, I would be making it very small and incorporating it into a logo.
- No problem, put a small notice, for example in the alternativ text, as me as author and everything is ok. MatthiasKabel (talk) 19:38, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Woher?
(Museumsshop-Ware). Vielen Dank --Helvetiker (talk) 23:08, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Loeb
[edit]Hallo,
There is already a category for "Sammlung Loeb", see Category:Loeb Collection.
Since this collection is just a part of the regular Staatliche Antikensammlungen collection, it is appropriate to use Museum:Staatliche Antikensammlungen. As for the title, it seems to me that inventory numbers for the Sammlung Loeb in Munich use the form "SL Number", for instance "SL 474"; and I would precise the museum name in the title, since there can be a confusion (other museums display parts of Sammlung Loeb, perhaps with a different numbering...).
So I would advise you using something like what is done in File:Oidipous Sphinx Staatliche Antikensammlungen SL474.jpg: title, page description and categories are clear and complete.
Best, Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 23:14, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
- As currently there are just 8 images in Category:Loeb Collection, creating a subcat does not seem necessary... but you can do so if you wish.
- There are some pictures in Staatliche Antikensammlungen, which belong to Loeb collection but are exhibited in the cellar (e.g.File:Ancient Greek jewelry Pontika (Ukraina) 300 bC.jpg). Also I will upload some new pictures in the next days.
- OK. On the category name, I would append an article before the museum name, like it was done before (see Category:Greek antiquities in the Staatliche Antikensammlungen).

- Is there really a first floor in the Staatliche Antikensammlungen? It's new? I can't figure out how it can be since my last visit... Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 11:34, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Not a complete floor, but you have to go up a staircase to a wide platform, which is smaller than the basement. File:Roman bronze elephant Staatliche Antikensammlungen SL 50 2.jpg MatthiasKabel (talk) 12:19, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Interesting. Perhaps I missed it when I was there. (I advise you to use the {{Artwork}} template instead of {{Description}}, since it contains several relevant fields.) Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 14:25, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Trevi fountain
[edit]Is it possible to get a very high res file of this image of the trevi fountain?
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Trevi_fountain_at_night.jpg#file
I've been searching for a nice wide view of the Trevi Fountain and this image is incredible. I love the wide view with the people in the foreground.
My husband proposed to me there about 10 years ago and I was hoping to print a large image of the fountain and frame it.
Please let me know if this is possible. I can be reached at cwivell@yahoo.com.
Thank you, Colleen
- Hi Colleen, I'm afraid I have no higher resolution of this picture. I could send you the picture without perspective correction, that would be 4368x2912 px. I'm just uploading a higher resolution, but at daytime, so it's not that romantic. File:Trevi fountain 2008 overview.jpg MatthiasKabel (talk) 20:56, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Versailles
[edit]Hi Matthias,
I've heard about this project, since there has been quite a good promotion in the Wikimedia French-speaking community. In fact, there is currently a good job which is done by a few people, and as they have much more knowledge than me on the subject and period, I let them manage Versailles. Museums are enough for me ;)
But it's kind to think to me.
Best. Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 20:32, 12 June 2011 (UTC)
