Sources for your images
[edit]Hello, where are the sources for these two images you have created?

--Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 11:46, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- It looks to me like your "sources" for the images are other wikimedia images other people have made. I'm concerned about this as your images aren't verified by real sources. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 15:40, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- And that image is traced from this one [1] which is also unsourced. Its like a domino effect, one person creates something without source and then everyone else goes along and creates stuff based on that, and there is no source to confirm anything. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 17:26, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

For example, this source shows that Aram Damascus reached to the Sea of Galilee [2], which is not present in your images. And this is only one inaccuracy, what about all the other kingdoms, empires, tribes and states? Images shouldn't be created if you don't have reliable sources for everything they describe. Just because some other wikimedia images are "widely used", does not make them reliable sources. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 10:36, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

File tagging File:Margaret Bennett (writer).JPG
[edit]This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Margaret Bennett (writer).JPG. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you. |

[edit]When you look at the actual file, it shows fine apart from (first line of each text box down the left, excluding senate) centuries, tribes and comita tributa are slightly too far to the left and touch the previous word. When it is looked at on the description page, those words are too far to the right and displace other words NonNobisSolum (talk) 17:31, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi! Nice map but I noticed two issues with it. Maybe you wish to reply on the file talk page. Regards. --Codrin.B (talk) 00:39, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Levant c 830 maps
[edit]Hi. I like the maps [3], [4]. I was wondering if you would be interested in amalgamating the two maps so that all of the kingdoms (both Jewish and non-Jewish) are colored?
If so I think it would make a good replacement to this [5] which is currently being used on History of Palestine - essentially the same map but rather garish and unpleasant to look at. Also I would be interested if you had any further details of the source of the original image.
Regards, Dlv999 (talk) 16:31, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
- In addition to adding colour, it would be good also to discuss some of the names.
- 1. As far as I am aware, Petra did not exist at that time (only founded in 5th century BCE [6]) - the capital was Bozrah.
- 2. Umomium seems to be a fake name. I cannot find any reference to it anywhere.
- 3. Arabu[7] should probably be Arubu - perhaps this is a difference in usage (perhaps language differences)
- I could do the work on the SVG - I have already converted the old file for the "Kingdoms around Israel 830" in SVG, and could add the colours.
