Quotes in filenames
Hi. Seems like Cropbot doesn't handle files with quotes in the filenames, just tried cropping File:August_Oddvar_som_Paul_Parisot_i_"Brændende_Jord"_(1924).jpg. – Danmichaelo (δ) 23:20, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi luxo, could you cast your eyes on Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Microtoerisme#Files_uploaded_by_Microtoerisme_.28talk_.C2.B7_contribs.29; a batch removal of the bottom lines would be extremely helpful. Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 07:47, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
More problems with Derivative FX
I'm sure you know this already but something's wrong with DFX. I tried to upload a derivative of File:PIA16874-CobeWmapPlanckComparison-20130321.jpg and couldn't get past the first screen. But it's a great tool when it works, and for that I'm thankful. I'm using IE9/Win7, by the way. Oh, and please note that license, with an 's', is a verb (as in 'licensed restaurant') and licence, with a 'c', is a noun (as in 'driving licence'). Regards, nagualdesign (talk) 02:29, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- And here I thought I was going crazy or something! I am not sure how the tool is supposed to work since I've never used it before, but I'm pretty sure it is not doing what it is supposed to. I can get past the "Ok - I'm logged in" check, but once I do, all I get is a text form with the text "File:" in it, and the text "License of this file: please add name". No links, no nothing. All I have is a button saying "Add more original files" which only gives another pair of the same nonfunctional upload items, and a disabled button labeled "Ok - next". Entering text on the form does nothing. I have Firefox 15 (I'm not sure if it might be an issue, being an older version and all), I'm on Ubuntu 12.04, and I have NoScript with authorization to execute scripts from both wikimedia.org and toolserver.org. I hope this helps! - Ana Sofia Paixão (talk) 22:17, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

CropBot redirecting to HTTPS
Hi, I'm using CropBot (wonderful tool !) and Commons using HTTPS ; when CropBot has finished cropping and refreshing the thumbnail, I'm redirected to the simple HTTP commons page of the picture. Issue with derivativeFX
FYI, I attempted to upload a derivative of File:Jeff Galloway 2.JPG - derivativeFX reports "no valid license found", though the file is tagged with {{PD-USGov-Military-Air Force}}. Kelly (talk) 16:19, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
- If I may add, I've never been able to use dfx, I've always 'bounced off' it's counter-intuitive interface entirely, I appreciate your effort with the useful important tool, but it makes my skin crawl to even think of using it now. The first and foremost problem is it confuses every image. If you label something by saying 'please enter the name of the image that has pixels in it' and then have another label 'please enter the name of the image that has resolution' and 'please enter the name of the image meant to be viewed' you see how that is confusing ? That is exactly the problem it creates where it says something like 'please enter the name of the original image' that's where I leave entirely and for good and always have. I don't like to even think of it. (please put any reply on my tp) Penyulap ☏ 03:56, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
DerivativeFX question:
I just used/(attempted to use?) DerivativeFX for the first time.
Is there typically a significant delay before the new file posts to Commons?
I was/(did?) upload File:CatedralDePalencia-(arch_crop_xmple-01).png as a derivative of File:CatedralDePalencia20100118211516SAM 2513.jpg.
I just discovered DerivativeFX (it was mentioned by another editor) and was rather thrilled to have done so as I'd previously speculated that 'there oughta' be a way' to automate derivative uploads. I'm very pleased to see that you've chosen to give it your attention.
Thank you, --Kevjonesin (talk) 13:54, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, I think I had misunderstood how the tool was intended to function as when I went to manually do a basic upload of my derivative file the info text from my DerivativeFX attempt was added automatically to the text field.
- Is it safe to assume at this point that the function of the tool is to add info text to files which have been uploaded via other means? Rather than to generate info and facilitate uploading in one step?
- Is there an instruction/man page somewhere? If not I'm willing to help write one.
How to get password reminder for TUSC / Cropbot
Hi, it seems that I forgot my password for TUSC / cropbot. Unfortunately, there is no obvious way to get a password reminder. So I generated a new password on TUSC which was possible without problem. However, this new password wouldn't work with Cropbot, as Cropbot seems to ask for the old password. - Is there a way out of this? --Beat Estermann (talk) 10:39, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, cropbot checks your TUSC password only once (first login), then it's saved in it's own user table. So I have deleted your entry in the cropbot-DB, now you can login with your TUSC password again. Greetings, --Luxo 12:09, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Luxo, Cropbot has stopped working since 19 August. It goes through the entire process ok, even saying "Thanks for using Cropbot" once the upload is done, but the upload isn't made. De-adminship warning
Dear Luxo/Archive2013. I am writing to inform you that you are in danger of losing your adminship on Commons because of inactivity.
If you want to keep your adminship, you need both to sign at Commons:Administrators/Inactivity section/Aug-Sep 2013 within 30 days of today's date, and also to make at least five further admin actions in the following six months. Anyone who does not do so will automatically lose administrator rights.
You can read the de-admin policy at Commons:Administrators/De-adminship.
Thank you – Kwj2772 (msg) 08:03, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

- the problem of this tool is, that it isn't possible to get it back to work like it worked at the beginning. Uploads from an other form than the original is not possible anymore (because of security reasons). It should be made completely new with javascript, but that takes a lot of time.--Luxo 12:58, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- Dear Luxo, I used many times your tool (and thanked you the same number of times in my mind), I just would suggest a workaround that helped me last few derivative uploads and it could help you to fix the tool to a (fast?) temporary release. While on the last page of the process, I selected/copy the whole text content and then pasted it in the old traditional upload form (Special:Upload&uploadformstyle=basic). So if you stop the process just in that point and pop a message box telling to the user "copy/paste by old form", many people could still have benefits from the first phase of the process. -- Fulvio 314 13:43, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Right now we are getting "User 'luxo' has exceeded the 'max_user_connections' resource (current value: 15)". You can ask a TS admin to increase that limit (via JIRA, otherwise they'll claim they never heard of it). I have moved most of my DB-intensive tools over to labs, so if they complain, tell them to take some of my connections. --Magnus Manske (talk) 11:20, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

derivateFX
I had an experience with the derivateFX bot that made me quit it to be safe. It turned out the dFX wanted to create a new file, while I just wanted to add a note to an existing, update file (there were more already; my first dFX usage).
My intention: I cropped File:Liquid fluorine tighter crop.jpg and uploaded the new file manually old style. Two earlier file edits were listed formally, so I took the suggestion and opened the dFX to add my modification description. But the dFX dialogue only was aimed at adding a new file. That was confusing for me, even in the final overview screen. (example 1: it takes the description from the existing original {information} box. I did not know what {information} box is (the name invisible to the reader); I know where to find it, but still. Example 2: dFX asks for a filename (expects be a new one, for a green approval note. I could not find how to say: no, just a new upload. Example 3: The "retouched" question ("what did you retouche?") I did not see.
Related: Example 4: I could not open the existing file page to look up information. Example 5: Question I had under way: am I supposed to upload a derived file via dFX? And can I upload to an existing file, or is it new files only? How did the earlier modification notes get there?
Of course, if dFX is not intended for my intention, I am in the wrong place. But the page links dFX right below earlier modification notices. It could be that it is only a documentation (description of the bot) issue.
I get that the bot is very useful to document modifications seriously. That is Good! I could not do that without automated guidance. -DePiep (talk) 06:55, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
