An offering for our new administrator from your comrades...

Kwj2772, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and Commons:Deletion requests), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-commons on irc.freenode.net. There is also a channel for Commons admins, which may be useful for more sensitive topics, or coordination among administrators:#wikimedia-commons-admin.

Also consider joining #wikimedia-admin, the cross-wiki coordination channel for Wikimedia administrators. Ask any channel operator for an invite exemption (or anyone in the channel may /invite you in temporarily). All admins from all projects are welcome.

You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading.

Please also check or add your entry to the List of administrators and the related lists by language and date it references....

Admin page

Hi, just to let you know that I've reverted this edit. I'm working on all the "Request" pages at the moment, and it was intentional that the rules are linked to but not transcluded. The plan is that the applications will be made from the appropriate /Requests subpage for all types of request (admin, checkuser, oversighter etc), we won't have everything including bot requests mixed up on the main admin page. Everything will then be transcluded onto Commons:Requests and votes for ease of visibility. See Commons talk:Requests and votes. It should all make more sense shortly. --MichaelMaggs (talk) 18:30, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Reviewing Flickr images

Hello Kwj2772, I'm just wondering if a Flickr image is currently tagged with an unfree license, should I tag it with copyvio template or use template such as YourUsername. Is it possible to check whether the license of the image had been changed? Thanks for your time --Ben.MQ (talk) 14:41, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

You can use both templates. I prefer using Copyvio instead of YourUsername because images tagged with Copyvio can be more quickly deleted. Regards.--Kwj2772 (msg) 14:45, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, I couldn't sleep last night, I knew I had made more edits than that. I figured it out. I did a bunch of rename requests in December, and they were gone. Why? Because once the image is renamed, the old history is deleted. So actually I have contributed more, just they didn't show once the new file was created. Not stalking you, but please give me a rethink. Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 03:57, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

"전체 이용가" with green circle means that everyone can use. "12세 이용가" with blue circle means it is for over the age 12. "15세 이용가" with yellow circle means it is for over the age 15. Korean translations needed

Hi! I contact you as you speak English and Korean.

Jastrow and I are working on autotranslating Meta information museum, the meta-template we use for many museums, like Information Louvre. Could you please help us find Korean translations for every tag name:

 * artist/maker
 * description
 * dimensions
 * credit line
 * accession number
 * location
 * source/photographer
 * references
 * other versions

"Credit line" is mainly about the mode of acquisition: what collection does it come from? Did it join the collections by gift, purchase, on loan, etc.?

Hei! You tried to edit some of these lately to add localisation friendliness. Well, I had done that before (tagged as i18n friendliness), but couldn't access ca nor de so you may edit these too to at least have all derivatives possible to translate without leaving English in there. Your move

I don't think that is a wise idea. Of course, I've acknowledged that those are Korean places and Korean food and most of images (I'm sure 99%) are uploaded and organized by me. However, Wikipedia Commons is primarily based English and other languages are option. For that reason, your edit summaries are left in English instead of Korean, didn't you? If you think that move requires discussion, direct me where is a good place for that discussion. I don't think the discussion should be dealt with only "Koreans". Moreover, can you show me that the titles should be in Korean? If your edits are not supported by the policy or naming convention, I think I have a better position for my edit. --Caspian blue 12:22, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Also I found your logic skewed. There is no category with non-English allowed. If Commons supported, whey do you think that all project other than English Wikipedia should use a parameter like Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do. We have Category:Gyeongsangbuk-do not Category:경상북도. I once created a Korean category to see if how the thing is going, well, that Korean named category was speedy deleted as opposed to your argument of 'multilinguality". Your logic "Should be respected" based on a proposed "guideline" is not equal to "my edits are warranted to revert". Moreover many of renamed images are those with "non-English titles" because they are hard to find and search and their letters are easily broken. So show me that your edits are "consensus" and "policy". If not, I'm going to revert your edit.--Caspian blue 12:41, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Please read COM:LP carefully. LP says it is custom to use native language in place, cultural-specific food. But in categoryspace, this is exception because category redirection in MediaWiki software is impossible. Kwj2772 (msg) 14:17, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Kwj2772 (msg) 14:49, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
As you know I've written my opinion in English because I want this discussion for everyone, not just discussion between Korean readers. However, you intentionally are responding my request in Korean with such cheap personal attacks. I expect high standards from admins, and please "abide by the Civility policy". My argument is a mixture of many things that I have had in mind for a while, not just for your edits. So your attack does not sound convincing to me at all. Your arguments are not only illogical but also failing because you are just simply evading my questions: So, Where is the written policy that the "proposed" guideline should be respected and preferred over accessibility? Where are the consensus? Where are the right place for discussion? You don't and you can't because you're resorting your own POV. Besides, the test category in Korean was made for "redirect purpose" however, that was speedied. I don't see why category should be treated differently since you're asserting "multilinguality". Since you're asserting your own POV, you're responsible for your own edits. --Caspian blue 16:18, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
When I upload files, I don't think those belong to mine and most images are not taken by me, however, I don't need such disrespectful attitude from you that ignores my contribution to Wikipedia. So drop such the false accusation. When I upload images or create gallery, I carefully calculate their accessibility and name appropriate titles since many users coming to Commons are from Google or search engine. Tell me why "non-English" names like German/French/Bulgarian/Russian/Japanese and Chinese names are renamed by editors here? Those titles tend to be easily broken in link and not every editors /readers can read. When people search for images of kimchi, do you think that they would know how to use the search function and recognize "hangul" in their browser? Not really. That assessment is a reflection from Westerners. They do not set their browser with UTF. 김치 in Korean is shown to them just broken boxes.--Caspian blue 16:28, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Kwj2772 (msg) 07:01, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Kwj2772 (msg) 07:33, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Kwj2772 (msg) 09:06, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
You're still ignoring my request to "Let's this discussion in English, and abide by the civility rule". I've said, I want this discussion in English because I don't think this discussion should be only open for Korean editors. You're falsely accusing me of speaking nonsense. While your own rude tones and evasive answers speak for themselves - making your argument as nonsense. The Japanese convention would be based on a consensus by people working on the Japanese topics. Korean subjects do not follow their convention, so that's why Korean related categories and galleries are different from their naming and conventions. Basically, you've failed to show me your evidence for "where are the written policy and consensus"? When did I say that accessibility is only confined within Wikimedia Commons? If you think that Wikipedia owns Google or other search engines, your fallacies would have some merits, which is not. Ask any Westerners about their encoding setting; Only few people those who are interested in other cultures set their browser with UTF-8. That is from my own experience in dealing with Westerners. "한글이 깨져 보인다면 CJK 글꼴을 설치하면 될 것을 무엇 하러 표제어까지 로마자로 정해야 하나요? 주객이 전도되는 꼴이군요." So you're requesting non-Koreans who come here to search for Korean images, to install CJK fonts? That is hilarious. That argument itself fails your rebuttal to my argument based on accessibility. I have interested in some part of Asia, but their languages do not show correctly on my computer. However, I would not bother installing fonts for broken letters to look them correctly. My friends have interests in East Asian culture, but they do not bother to change the setting even though I told them about how to change the setting. I wanted to have a calm discussion with you, but you're just resorting incivility and logical fallacies. If you can not show valid points and respect people on opposite, do not get engage in incivility.--Caspian blue 14:41, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Kwj2772!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

I appreciate your help even though we are in not so good situation for the past thing. I'm also glad to know that you can put behind past. You're right, the problem that I was having is due to my preference setting. Per your suggestion, I removed the parameter of ""Use external editor by default", but nothing changed. However, I reverted my preference setting to the default, and finally I can see and click on diffs. The problem is due to "Use external diff by default (for experts only, needs special settings on your computer)". I think I clicked that long ago, so even though I change my computer, I could not get away with the popups. I'm writing this to you, just to share the info with Lar who also tried to help me. Hi Kwj2772, could you check whether the alleged problem with this template has any connection to your last edit. Thanks. --Túrelio (talk) 07:16, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi Kwj, thanks for deleting some of the empty cats. To avoid creating too much overhead for others, I was wondering if I should give this another try. -- User:Docu at 14:54, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for late response. I think you should be an admin here first to make the bot have an adminship. Best regards. Kwj2772 (msg) 03:57, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

thanks for removing Ana Gabriela.JPG, I mistake the name.

The images File:Porto_de_galinhas_019.JPG and File:Porto_de_galinhas_020.JPG are the same too, can you remove one of they, please? Thanks -- Andrevruas (talk) 02:46, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
