Bad deletion request
[edit]Hallo,
yesterday, you set a deletion request to image:BSicon HSTRM.svg and wrote, that it is a duplicate of Image:BSicon uSTR.svg.
Please, open your eyes wide and look:
File:BSicon HSTRM.svg | |
BSicon HSTRM.svg | BSicon uSTR.svg |
Can you see the difference ;-) ?
I 've erased the deletion request, because I think, that this is only a bad All-Fools-Day - joke.

Bad SVGs
[edit]There is another problem:
you upload a series of svg-images, which crash the Browser Firefox 2.0 when you try to get a direct view by clicking on the filename on the image desciption page. The reason for crashing is the scaling:
in the svg-tag, there is defined a width of 1.76389e+006, ( = 1763890 pixels !!!). thats not for screen, thats only (!) for printmedia. please, never upload any image with that problem again. If you want to check, if an svg-image is Ok, open in with a plain texteditor an look at the top for a line that starts with a text like:
<svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xml:space="preserve" width="1.76389E+006px" height="1.76389E+006px"
...
There you can see the huge measurements of about 2 millon pixels. With greetings, Augiasstallputzer 03:38, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Hey, once you tag the bad duplicate with {{Duplicate}}, you just need to wait and an admin will eventually take care of it. You don't need to create a deletion request. Thanks, Yonatan talk 07:21, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Nur wenn da nichts auftaucht kannst du "no more in use" schreiben. Ich empfehle dir dringend, hier oder auf deiner dt. D-Seite zu antworten. Augiasstallputzer 02:03, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
M. f. G. Augiasstallputzer 18:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Hello, could you please give this category a better name, for example Icons for motorway descriptions? The may be used like railway icons, but indeed they are no railway icons! The canal icons have also their own category. --MdE 15:38, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Your new BS icons
[edit]Hello, its regardless whether you created them as testing symbol or not. Please have a look at Commons:Railway line template/Policies. In order to prevent adding useless, identical or other symbols that are not needed new ones have to be discussed.
I know that you want to use yours as for BS2 as , I have checked where they are used. But look at this combination: File:BSicon ABZld.svg. For these symbols we have a complete palette of e, x and so on. This is not the case with your ones. And it is definitve not necessary to create them. So you can use the existing ones. If you still think they are indispensable you can start a discussion.
Another thing: Please don't replace the dSTRa or dSTRe symbols with wrong ones! There is no u in their name, so why should they be blue? And even if you had used the normal colour, the round version (as they are now) is more relaistic, isn't it?
- There is an intended difference between and File:BSicon ABZld.svg. The latter allows connections in all directions, while the former does not. The former is in my language called 'kruiswissel'. You can see an example on [1].
- The icon or is a different one. It was created by my Italian friend Jollyroger, and it was supposed to be a red V. We do not understand why it displays as a blue V when it is big, while it displays correctly when it is small. HandigeHarry 22:45, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- I know that you mean a - as we call it - Überleitstelle. But think about the fact that all BS-icons are not 100% realistic or more or less simplified. I will change tha category again. If you want to make you symbol official, please start a discussion as the policies prescribe.
- Now the dSTRe-Symbol ist not blue any more, ok. But I see no difference between the old version and the newest, except for the fact that it can not be displayed in Firefox (the thumbnail by the wikimedia software works). So why did you change it? --MdE 14:56, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
I never changed dSTRe. It was created by Jollyroger. However, it was blue although it had to be red. I thought that Jollyroger had made an error, so I uploaded it again. It made no difference. You saw that I had uploaded a new symbol which had the wrong colour, and you thought I had made the error. You rebuked me for it. You restored Jolly's version - which made no difference, of course. I tried again to upload a file, in a frantic effort. Eventually the problem was solved by Para. It appears to be a cache problem, which is strange, since all uploaded SVG files were correct. HandigeHarry 15:05, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- (Please answer here, otherwise it is hard to follow the context) Ok. I had never seen the blue icon (with big or small thumbnails), I first saw it after you uploaded a new version. But now it works, an that's the main thing :-) The only problem is that it can't be viewed in Firefox because perhaps the SVG-Header is not correct, but I don't know exactly. --MdE 17:53, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:APLuparrow.svg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:APLuparrow.svg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{self|cc-by-sa-2.5}} to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. [edit]Image deletion warning | Image:Sporen van bosvarken.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

Image upload request
[edit]Hi, as you uploaded File:BSicon buuSTRlf.svg, I'm turning to you to request the whole image "the other way 'round". Could you please also create File:BSicon buuSTRrg.svg, so that both versions are available? Thanks in advance. --88.66.8.139 18:20, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the quick creation. But I have another request: Could you create a red/blue version of ? If I get the system right, then according to the other railway-and-tube symbols it would be named File:BSicon buSBRÜCKE.svg. Again thanks a lot in advance. --88.66.62.127 08:23, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- Me again. I discovered another missing symbol. As you already managed to create my other two requests, I come to you with my third wish for creation. The existing image File:BSicon exWECHSELeu.svg is nonexistent "the other way 'round" with blue on top. So could you please create File:BSicon exWECHSELue.svg, so that both versions are available? Again thanks a lot in advance. --88.66.54.160 01:21, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

[edit]This is a very useful image- but could you give a little more information as to its location. Just the country would give it some context! Ideally you could add a geotag Commons:Geocoding. ClemRutter 15:30, 17 May 2008 (UTC).

B Note with stems facing up or down
[edit]Thanks for your great contributions in category:Musical_score_components_(2)!
Standard notation is that the B1 note should have stems facing up, but the .svg notes stem is down.
The .jpg version is correct, but is not compatible with the G clef:
Perhaps it could be useful with one up version and one down version of each note.
Your SVG files really simplified my work when developing the following Swedish templates:
sv:mall:Tonnamn-BbH and sv:mall:Tonnamn-BbH. 193.10.114.101 12:38, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
- It is indifferent to me. The pictures are not intended for polyphonous music and the direction of the stems does not matter much. If you like, you can add pictures with the stem in the desired direction.
- I saw sv:B, H och Bess. Although I do not read Swedish, I saw that Swedish H is old fashioned and will be replaced by B. You may be interested to know that our Dutch names are the same as German (with -is and -es endings), but we never say H, always B.
- English: F sharp, German: Fis, Dutch: Fis
- English: B, German H, Dutch B
- English B flat, German B, Dutch Bes

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called HandigeHarry. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name HandigeHarry~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
