Image deletion warning | Image:Torvikbukt-Nesset.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |
(I fixed your request). In the future, you can use name of other file in the case where you uploaded a picture with the wrong name. ("delete" is for "normal deletions", "badname" is for "speedy deletions"). Kind regards, --Deadstar 13:53, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit]The image you tagged, has itself as the correct image. What is the name of the image with the correct name? — Rlevse • Talk • 01:50, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- Name: Reuben - Image:Reuben-Morgan-Norway2004.jpg is correct.
Ruben is wrong. --Halvard 01:56, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

[edit]Hi Halvard!
I was very pleased to see that you used my image of a swallowtail as a basis in Image:Butterfly-description.jpg. However, i thought it would be even better to add the desciption labels in a vector format. So i recreated your image as Image:Butterfly-description.svg. Advantages are that it can be scaled to any size without loss of quality and its much easier to modify. Now i'm curious about your opinion about the result. --Rotkraut (talk) 21:14, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. The reason why I used your image was beacause it shows every part of a butterfly. Both head and body. It was a good idea to make a svg-image. --Halvard (talk) 00:22, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Halvard This drawing is wrong because cannot refer to Psyllids, but it appears better as an Aphid: only Aphids have got addominal cornicles and cauda and a main longitudinal vein and secondary branches as is reported in the picture. Psyllids didn't have those addominal structures and have veins as is reported in Image:Psyllidae forewing veins.svg. Could you edit the image and move it in Category:Aphidoidea? Greetings --gian_d (talk) 19:39, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. New: Image:Homo-Aphidae-HH.jpg - Done. --Halvard (talk) 00:35, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:44, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
