Thank you for providing images to the commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on the commons must be under a free license and should be usefull to the wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:

• Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
• State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitely.
• If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
• Add a Copyright tag - images without a appropriate license tag will be deleted.
• Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate Categories, so it can be found by others.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki.

Hello Eruedin, thank you for moving images from the German Wikipedia to Commons. Please remeber that there are some rules which have to be observed. If the needed information is not present on Commons the image can not be deleted in the German Wikipedia.
In general, be careful to preserve all of the information available about the image, always copy the image description and state who created the image. The Commons Helper will create a full summary that you can copy and paste into the Commons upload page. Please review the created summary and correct manually if necessary. Je ne suis pas admin donc je n'ai pas supprimé moi-même cette image. Je ne me souviens plus quel était le problème exact, cependant si elle a été supprimée il y avait manifestement un problème. Pour rappel, la règle veut qu'une image ne tombe dans le domaine public que 70 ans après la mort de l'auteur. Il faut donc se baser sur la date de décès de l'auteur et non sur la date de publication de la photographie. Mais si tu contestes la suppression, tu peux faire une demande de restauration auprès de l'admin qui l'a traitée [2].

Il semble d'après ce journal que cette image n'avait aucune source ; c'est le motif de suppression : pas de source, pas d'image ! Bibi Saint-Pol (sprechen) 23:27, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Ce n'est pas la première fois que celui qui a proposer de détruire une image n'a pas complétement lu les mentions suivant l'image. Ou devrai-je, quand j'écrit que X. est mort depuis plus de 70 ans rajouté l'avis mortuaire est une bibliographie autorisé par un notaire? Ce jour-là j'arrêterais avec mes contributions… Si au moins on pourrait dire quelque chose de concret, mais non, seulement und staus "unclear" – pas mentionné ou pas assez claire ou dans une langue que l'autre ne comprenne pas – au ....? I do not reload and reload pics who respect the wiki rules that someone delet them, because I do not answer in very short time to the delet menace; wikipedia is not my daily job and so I am not on the commons every day. Le porteur des droits mentionné (éditeur) a bien probablement disparu pendant la guerre 1914/1918, vu que aucune production est connu après cette date. De même aucune reprise du commerce est connue. Donc l'ayant droit a disparu il y a 90 ans. Comme j'ais déjà écrit plus haut, je connais les règles du droit d'auteur et c'est décourageant si des photos sont effacés, malgés qu'ils respectent les normes et les lois en vigeur. Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
