If I remember correctly, some of the uploader's images were published before their upload on Commons, so I did a mass tagging. For this particular image, I'm now unable to find any sources, so this probably was erroneously tagged. --Didym (talk) 17:44, 10 January 2017 (UTC)

Commons als Möglcihkeit zum freien Datenaustausch

Hallo Didym, wie wäre es wenn ihr dafür eine speziellen Bereich einrichten würdet, der sowas wie die Spielwiese ist. Soll heißen alles was dort hochgeladen wird, wird nicht überprüft und wird automatisch von einem Bot innerhalb von 12 Stunden wieder gelöscht. Die Versionsgeschichte nach drei Monaten, entsprechend den Gesetzen zur Vorratsdatenspeicherung. Es wird für Hochlader klargemacht, dass er kein geschützes Material hochladen darf, dem Herunterlader klargemacht, dass das Herunterladen von diesen Dateien möglicherweise gegen Gesetze verstößt. Das macht es unnötig diese Daten permanent aussortieren zu müssen und würde verhindern, dass dauernd neue Accounts angelegt werden zur zum Zwecke von Datenaustausch, die dann wieder gesperrt werden müssen. --Giftzwerg 88 (talk) 03:45, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

Das würde leider wenig bringen, den Hochladern ist in den allermeisten Fällen bekannt, dass das Material geschützt ist, trotzdem wird einfach hochgeladen. Zudem sind die Dateien momentan meist so groß, dass erhebliche Mengen an Speicherplatz (im Schnitt wahrscheinlich etwa 500 MB pro Datei) dadurch verschwendet würden. In gewisser Weise geht auch der Sinn von Template:Uwlsubst in diese Richtung. --Didym (talk) 22:09, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Ist mir bewusst, dass die Hochlader wissen, dass sie gegen Gesetze verstoßen. Eine gelöschte Datei braucht doch immer noch Platz, weil sie ja eigentlich nicht gelöscht, sondern nur versteckt ist, oder sehe ich das falsch? Wenn man das dauerhaft in den Griff kriegen will, müsste man auch das so löschen, so dass nichts mehr davon physikalisch übrig ist. Das Problem kriegst du nur dann in den Griff, wenn du den Zugang auf irgendeine Weise beschränkst also so, dass große Dateien nur noch von vertrauenswürdigen Benutzern hochgeladen werden können, alle anderen müssen große Dateien vorher anmelden und können in einem Zeitfenster entsprechendes hochladen. Was groß ist orientiert sich dabei an dem, was eine gängige moderne Profikamera als Dateigröße ausgibt. Ein Filter könnte außerdem das Dateiformat überprüfen und nur Formate akzeptieren, die in irgendeiner Form Mediendateien sind, also keinen Programmcode, Festplattendumps, Zipdateien etc.--Giftzwerg 88 (talk) 09:43, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

Bonjour Didym je suis l'auteurs d'autres articles, avec des photos que j'ai prise et dont je suis le propriétaire. Cependant, certains sites internet, autres que wikipédia, en font leur propre utilisation après publication à partir d'un compte utilisateur personnel. je rencontre donc un problème ici, car mon travail, publié sur des espaces personnels d'autres ites étant ensuite réutilisé par lesdits sites à leurs fins personnelles, je me retrouve à ne plus pouvoir les utiliser moi même..... quelle solution proposez vous afin de ne pas mettre en doute le copyright de mon propre travail à votre niveau ? Hilfe wird benötigt

hallo! nachdem du mir schon mal geholfen hast: ich habe ein risenproblem, ich habe endel etztens jahres zum otrs-team eine mail wegen einer freigabe gesendet. ich habe dies nochmal vor kurzem getan, ich habe über 100 fotos, die ich hochladen wollen würde und die arbeit hängt, weil ich keine nachricht vom otrs-team bekam. ich nehme an, jetzt muss ich an jeden einzelnen upload, was es verdammt verlangsamt, weil ich wirklich jede datei einzeln hochladen müsste, ein blödes pending hängen. kann man da mal irgendwas beschleunigen? wo hängt es denn? freigabe war von Francisco Peralta Torrejón für User Gedenksteine (jameslwood hat den account, siehe seine diksussionsseite auf grund eines missverstndnisses gesperrt, wir haben uns geeinigt, wir lassen es so und die freigaben werden auf Abadonna umgeschrieben, das wäre inzwischen Donna Gedenk wegen umbenennung). guten morgen, ok, jetzt ist es zumindest amtlich, dass ich als donna gedenk die fotos hochladen darf, die ich vorher schon hochladen durfte als gedenksteine, mich irritiert nur, dass eigentlich mir jameslwoodward schrieb, er würde es entsprechend reinschreiben und ich dachte, das passt schon. jetzt habe ich nur ein massives problem mit den fotos von francisco peralta torrejon, wo beim otrs eine schriftliche erlaubnis vorliegt, aber nichts passiert ist bisher. hab gerade um die 150 fotos von ihm, die hochgeladen werden müssen.--Donna Gedenk (talk) 09:44, 24 February 2017 (UTC)

Since you are an admin, I am wondering if you would mind taking a look at File:Kyle Schlesinger Austin 2016.jpg when you have the time. The uploader and the en:Kyle Schlesinger subject of the photo appear to be the same person, which could possibly mean it's (1) a selfie or (2) a photo taken by someone else. Given the pose of the photo, etc., the photo did not look like a selfie to me, so I tagged it with {{Npd}}. That tag was removed by another editor as explained at User talk:Marchjuly#could you please be more careful.... Any clarification you can provide regarding this would be appreciated. FWIW, if I made a mistake in applying the template and the file's licensing is acceptable, then I have no problem with it. That template might be too unspecific, but a deletion request seems to be justified. Even if the photo is a selfie, we should verifiy the uploader is the depicted person and not just someone else. --Didym (talk) 14:04, 20 March 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for taking a look. How do you suggest this be resolved then? If you look at my user talk, you'll find that the editor who removed the npd template seems to be convinced that the licensing is not really an issue. gelöschte WLE-Bilder

Hallo Didym, wo find ich den Löschantrag zB für File:Märzenbecherwald bei Algersdorf02.jpg? Scheint es geht um mehr als 10 Bilder. Bei einigen hab ich den LA gesehen, aber der war ja erst gestern. Wollt noch dazu schreiben, daß "zu geringe Auflösung" nur für die internationale Endausscheidung gilt. Da waren doch einige schöne Aufnahmen drunter, die auch für Artikel brauchbar gewesen wären. Die Löschung wurde im OTRS angefragt. Grund ist, dass der Uploader gerne alle Bilder unter einem Namen haben will, in diesem Fall dem nicht gesperrten Alternativkonto. Die Bilder sollen wieder hochgeladen werden, sind also nicht dauerhaft weg. --Didym (talk) 21:58, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Question regarding book cover.

I uploaded a book cover for a article I have in my sandbox that I want to incorporate into the article one day. I don't think I did the permission correctly. How can I fix this so that it is not deleted? The image in question is File:The Gilded Rage Book Cover.jpg and my sandbox for the future article is en:User:Hardindr/sandbox/The Gilded Rage: A Wild Ride Through Donald Trump's America. The copyright holder, in this case probably Skyhorse Publishing, has to contact OTRS to confirm the licensing. Otherwise, an administstor will delete the file after 7 days. --Didym (talk) 16:03, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
Okay, can you explain to me how a low-resolution cover for a book can be used in a Wikipedia article without the copyright holder giving consent? I see covers this one being used all the time, and it doesn't look like they contacted the copyright holder to get permission. File deletion

Bob Benzen images

Hey there, I am just trying to find out why my images THAT I OWN are being removed from Bob Benzens wikipedia page? To be clear, THESE PHOTOS HAVE NO LICENSING ON THEM AND SHOULD BE ALLOWED. Klein Tools wiki

I am currently working on updating the Klein Tools wiki. I work here at Klein and all the photos I am adding are being taken off for copyright or something else. I own the pictures and create them myself. How can I get these photos to stay? Klein Tools photos removed

I uploaded photos last weekend that I took and created for Klein Tools and Im currently updating our wiki page. How can these photos not be removed. I cant upload them and click the 'This is my own work' because the photos are not taken on a camera. How can I fix this? No permission

I don't understand why you marked File:NYO-China with Yuja Wang at Carnegie Hall.jpg with {{No permission …}}. The uploader used |source={{own}} and {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}}. What else could the uploader have done? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 05:39, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

When searching for images on flickr, you can set the license to "allow commercial use and derivatives" (at least to something with this meaning). Danke zunächst für die Löschung(en) gestern Abend. Ich hätte da noch eine Zusammenfassungszeile als Kandidaten in der Historie meiner Benutzerseite (gestern, 16:32 Uhr, gut gemeint aber schlecht gemacht....) Sonst ist die Löschung der Zusammenfassungszeile davor relativ witzlos. Keine Ahnung, bestimmt gibt es davon noch mehr Kandidaten, war ja sicher ein Massenedit.

Recent deletions

Hello,

It looks like you deleted a few images Roland zh recently nominated. I am hoping you can elaborate on the reason.

The reason given was "DR started to verify claimed 'own work' : rather small-sized format, but also missing EXIF data to verify origin and claimed 'own work', hence, potentially non-free content - your opinions ?"

Was there evidence that this was not "own work" or is there reason to assume that if there is no EXIF data and it is small size that it was not actually the uploader's own work?

Came across this because it was apparently part of a class assignment (see this thread on the enwiki Education Noticeboard) to create images for use on Wikimedia projects. A few look like they were deleted for depicting copyrighted works, and if that was the case with these then certainly it's justified, but otherwise? — Rhododendrites talk |  21:22, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

Without Exif data at a small resolution, we usually don't require further evidence of not being own work to assume a copyright violation. Also, those images were at least close to falling out of our project scope, so it's not worth the risk of keeping a copyright violation. Depicting copyrighted works was not a problem at all, all copyrighted content was de minimis. --Didym (talk) 21:37, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for your quick reply. If there was no copyright issue and the claim of "own work" appears legitimate, could you restore them? They were uploaded with the intention to use on Wikimedia projects, suggesting there's at least an argument about scope. The actual reason for deletion was copyright, not the scope issue. With highly valuable images, it may be worth the risk of hosting a copyright violation (if that risk is small enough), but compared to the value of these images (which isn't zero, but quite low), the risk is just too high. The uploader is free to upload a version with Exif data in full resolution at any time. --Didym (talk) 06:38, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi. I have a series of photos to delete. I should probably nominate them for deltetion, however I would have to nominate each one of them and state the reason for each. why not do that once and for all. I was experimenting with the original photo of a singer on which she doesn't look too flattering ( https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Margaret_(Małgorzata_Jamroży)_By_Daniel_Åhs_Karlsson.jpg ). I was cropping the image etc and uploading new versions to see what it would look like in the infobox eventually getting it right. The photo itself seems to be OK, but as the frame is 3-dimensional, the reproduction is copyrighted. You could crop away the frame, but as the photo is already very small, there would not be much left after cropping. --Didym (talk) 21:23, 15 December 2017 (UTC)
