Is hier een stemming o.i.d. over geweest? --Hardscarf 21:16, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- graag gedaan CrazyPhunk 11:19, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Russian maps
[edit]First of all, I see these maps are being discussed in the section above, but unfortunately I don't know Dutch to figure out what the discussion is about.
I just wanted to thank you for creating the locator maps in the vector format; they look much crispier than existing raster ones. I also hope that you haven't sank too much effort into them, because they are going obsolete in less than two months. If you could incorporate the July 1, 2007 merger of Kamchatka Oblast and Koryak Autonomous Okrug into the maps you make from now onward, that'd be just great (not to say it'll save me the trouble of making the new maps myself :)). We will need a new set of maps, so Image:RussiaArkhangelsk2007-01.svg, for example, will be replaced with new Image:RussiaArkhangelsk2007-07.svg. Old maps should also be retained for articles on historic development of Russia's divisions.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can help with. The best way to reach me is through my English Wikipedia talk page. Cheers,—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 13:17, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- crap, I already made 56 SVG maps of Russia. CrazyPhunk 15:57, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, on the bright side you can create the 2007-07 set of maps based on the ones you have already created. You'll only need to remove the border between Kamchatka Oblast and Koryak Autonomous Okrug on all of them; that should be easy.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 17:17, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- I took the liberty to continue the work as the merger is coming close: all maps as of 1 july 2007 are now in Category:Maps of Russian federal subjects and a new blank map can be found here --Hardscarf 10:51, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Multi-license
- Dammit 08:31, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi CrazyPhunk. I like your , it is very informative. When you added Estonia as an ECS country, shouldn't it be a pale blue colour, like e.g. Poland? And if Estonia should change colour anyway, then tiny Luxembourg has an extreme dark blue on the map. I don't know how easy it is to change colours. --Necessary Evil 10:53, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:AlysonMichalka1.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:AlysonMichalka1.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-3.0 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Deleted contents
[edit]
Hello CrazyPhunk,
the following content you uploaded is not free and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:
- Image:Knut december 2007 1.jpg
The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files which can be used for any purpose, including:
- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use
- free distribution
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload works you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions. —LX (talk, contribs) 12:13, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

[edit]Hello CrazyPhunk, I am a contributor to the French-speaking Wikipedia and I would very much like to use the image you created to add it to the article "États des États-Unis" and to others. But I would like some modifications to be made on the colors and I don't know how to do them myself. I believe the red and blue colors may confuse the readers at first sight because these colors are often used for demography or meteorology maps. And I do not really understand why two colors are needed (plus the grey parts that seem to be something completely different) I would rather have just shades of one color, blue, green, or any other. What do you think ? Could you do this for me or teach me how to do it ? Best regards. Patapiou 9 April 2008

File tagging Image:The Beauty of Rising and Falling - Emmen.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:The Beauty of Rising and Falling - Emmen.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:Image:The Beauty of Rising and Falling - Emmen.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 10:19, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Yde Girl.jpg. It only accepts free content, which is images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Reproductions of copyrighted works are also subject to the same copyright, and therefore this file must unfortunately be considered non-free. For more information, please read Commons:Derivative works and Commons:Freedom of panorama. You can ask questions about Commons policies in Commons:Help desk.
The file you added has been deleted. If you believe that this file was not a derivative work of a non-free work, you may request undeletion.

[edit]Beste CrazyPhunk,
--Vera (talk) 15:52, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons does not accept derivative works of non-free works such as File:Blue, Red, Yellow, Djungel - Kröller-Müller Museum 01.jpg.
|
And also:
I'm sorry, but due to copyright restrictions these works can't be published on Wikimedia Commons. The artwork depicted in the photographs are protected by copyright, making the photographs derivative works. Art on display in a public place in the Netherlands can be published, see COM:FOP for rules on Freedom of Panorama. A non-public space like a museum doesn't fall under FOP-rules. Yours sincerely, Vera (talk) 17:28, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
Deleted content
[edit]
File:Blue, Red, Yellow, Djungel - Kröller-Müller Museum 01.jpg
- use in any work, regardless of content
- creation of derivative works
- commercial use
- free distribution
See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.
Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions. And also:

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands in 2002 has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

File:Francophone Africa.svg
[edit]Can you add South Sudan in File:Francophone Africa.svg you uploaded?
I am adding South Sudan (as well as Montenegro and other possible missing updates) in the PNG maps in Category:Maps needing South Sudan political boundaries and then remove this category after updating them. There were close to 1100 maps since I started to update these files, now it is reduced to less than 700 maps, but there is a long way to go.
Unfortunately I don't know how to edit SVG maps myself, that is why I asked you.
Kindest regards.

File:Paul Luzineau 2020.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.

File tagging File:Femke Halsema huldiging Ajax 2019.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Femke Halsema huldiging Ajax 2019.jpg.
Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Femke Halsema huldiging Ajax 2019.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |
