Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

Hello Cgoodwin! Why do you think, the thomb in the front is the one of Clovis II. and not of Theuderic I. ? I made the picture on my own and wrote down the names. I am 100 % sure, it is Theuderic I. --Patrick 17:40, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi, Thank you for your response. In 2005 I made a special trip to view and photograph the tombs at St Denis. While there I purchased a copy of “Saint-Denis Cathedral” which includes a plan of the tombs and the names of those buried there. I have not been able to locate where Theuderic I was buried, but he is not mentioned in the book. The map also indicates that it was indeed Clovis II who was buried next to Charles Martel. See also:
Clovis II at: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=21068
And http://www.churchmonumentssociety.org/newfile8.htm#Charles%20Martel
- Well, I was there in August 2007. Maybe there was a correction between 2005 and 2007. I don't think, I couldn't make these mistake, when there was no Theuderic I, as you say. --Patrick 19:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Hello Cgoodwin - Clyde image
[edit]Welcome to Commons and thanks for uploading images. I saw that on Image:Clyde2.JPG you recently re-added the 'New Zealand' category after I had moved the image into a new 'Clyde' category. The reason I deleted the NZ category is that according to the sorting rules, an image should only be sorted into the most specific categories available (i.e. the 'deepest' categories). These categories then link upwards to more general cats, so that an image is always 'within' the most generic category anyway.
Say an image shows a yellow house in Christchurch with a New Zealand firetruck in front of it? It would then be sorted into the following categories:
- Category:Buildings in Christchurch
- Category:Fire engines of New Zealand
- Category:Houses in New Zealand (assuming it is a residential house)
- Category:Yellow buildings (this last is pretty much optional, and few people would cat that)
You should NOT sort the above-described image into 'Category:New Zealand', 'Category:Houses', 'Category:Christchurch' or 'Category:Vehicles of New Zealand', because the more specific categories listed above are all subcategories of these.
Any questions, please just ask, and plese continue uploading photos. We could do with more Otago pictures. Ingolfson 09:06, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm, seems that you have been on here for a time. Hope you didn't feel like I came across as condescending (had somebody else jump in my face once after he felt I had treated him as a newbie, just because he had little on his talk page). Ingolfson 09:10, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
Sorry! I have just started to categorize some of the many photos that I uploaded and still need all of the help that I can get. Will check later to see what else I have of Otago. Cgoodwin 22:02, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- I have photos of Clyde/Dam, Shotover R., Skippers Canyon, Wanaka, Wakatipu basin, Oamaru church and Arrowtown. Please advise what you require. Cgoodwin 09:09, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT (talk) 05:41, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
The Picture looks shurely old enoug to be in the public domain, but you should say a bit more about the book, it is from - the author and the date of publication is needet. --Kersti (talk) 09:29, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

Bay vs. brown
[edit]Hi, the category Brown horses is for users that don't know the difference between chestnut and bay. The category Bay horses currently holds every shade of bay, including dark bay i.e. "brown". Pitke (talk) 14:23, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Also I'm interested, what is her breed anyway? I'm thinking following breed registry terminology is problematic, since for instance, Arabian breed doesn't recognise spotting (but has sabino), Icelandic has multiple terms for sun-bleached black, many if not most breed registries still call double-cream dilutes "blue-eyed cream", and Swedish language calls both true roans and greys "skimmel". I see no reason to use registry-specific colour terms in categorisation because the mess it would create would be unbelievable. Categorisation, above all, should make searching for a specific type of picture by browsing categories as easy as possible. I have nothing aganist explaining the colour terminology in the picture description however, and in fact I think it'd be great. Pitke (talk) 22:41, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Help
[edit]Hello Cgoodwin, I noticed you sometimes ago, because I thought, you are the right one to help me with problems with the English language?!
- I want to create a new category. The contents shall be, "Wanderbücher" (wandering books...;) ) and a more special one "Wanderbücher of German furriers". Wanderbücher are books, the journeymen needed when they went to the road till they made their mastership. - How would you call these two categories? Thank you, regards from Germany, --Kürschner (talk) 10:07, 12 December 2010 (UTC) (= furrier)
- I am sorry but I am unable to improve on the already used categories. My German (and Japanese) is much worse than your English. Merry Christmas ãnd best wishes from Australia. Cgoodwin (talk) 06:35, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry :( - the problem is, I have not the right feeling, what it means exactly in English. Is it possible to say travelling book? Or traveling book (my dictionary knows both)? Or do you have another, own English name for it? If it is ok, would you write it travelling-book (in German we ever build only one word, travellingbook)? Problems over problems, when you are not a native English speaker. Nice Christmas too down under, the --Kürschner (talk) 10:10, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
- I hesitate to make any suggestions here as any incorrect categories are more difficult to change on Commons than EnWiki, but a better solution should be available here [1]. Good luck.Cgoodwin (talk) 02:40, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

- The image and caption look fine to me. Roughly translated it is Seat and belt cover in sheepskin, 2009' which is correct. Cgoodwin (talk) 02:02, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- Funny is, I think it was around ten years ago, I made my wife for birthday the same belt cover from nutria fur-skin, because she always had problems with the belt at her neck. I did not know, that somebody else had the same idea. I presented the car to my Greek fur sewer, it is now somewhwere in Greece. --Kürschner (talk) 06:05, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
- I had the same problem, too, and synthetic seat covers convey static electricity, but the sheepskin solves both problems nicely.Cgoodwin (talk) 09:52, 9 January 2011 (UTC) :) --Kürschner (talk) 12:43, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Re: Image Uralla
[edit]Hi Cgoodwin, I think you'd better chsck this photo, as it is NOT a photo of Uralla! Uralla does not have trees in the middle of the main street.

Alocasia brisbanensis
[edit]Hi CGoodwin I am using this because there is no email link.... I am assisting Cheryll Williams with her book Medicinal Plants in Australia Vol3 and she would like to use your image of Alocasia brisbanensis in the volume, because it shows a giant stinging tree, the volume is about Plants, Potions and Poisons. If you agree please advise of the attribution that you require should the publisher use the image. We are a non-profit group supporting Daintree Wildlife Rescue in the Daintree Rainforest in North Queensland, Australia (daintreewildliferescue.webs.com) rgds Tony Young (You can find an email contact under my User:ringpicker page)
- I would be pleased to assist and the acknowledgement that I took the photo would be appreciated, thanks. Best wishes with the project.Cgoodwin (talk) 05:08, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, the subject may be only a few months old, tiny feet. Now, please let me explain, mammals (in this case cattle) come in two kinds, male and female. Heifers are female. The animal in this image is showing conspicuous signs of being male or having been born male = it is not a heifer and most probably a steer. Right? Wrong? Regards, Eddaido (talk) 06:33, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
I may be wrong, closer inspection reveals another animal's feet. Anyway you are sure you're right? Best Eddaido (talk) 06:37, 15 October 2014 (UTC)

Doncaster
[edit]I own a painting of the picture of Doncaster you show. It was given to me by my Mother as a wedding gift in 1970. Do you think it could be original? Thank you. Jim Craven — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.164.190.157 (talk) 18:51, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
The church pictured in the Bonshaw article is probably at Yetman.
[edit]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonshaw,_New_South_Wales article has a photo, apparently taken by you. The church pictured is unlikely to be at Bonshaw. (The former Bonshaw anglican church is made of wood, and might now be privately owned.) I'm about 90% sure the photo is of a church at Yetman, NSW. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yetman,_New_South_Wales It's a nice photo, and the Yetman article could certainly use it, if confirmed :-) 110.145.170.78 05:07, 25 June 2019 (UTC)
