Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:40, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Yuri_Gagarin_con_traje_espacial.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Yuri_Gagarin_con_traje_espacial.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Regarding Flag_of_Nicaragua.svg
[edit]Hello. I noticed that you created an SVG for Flag of Nicaragua. I am involved in a project to put together a repository of flags for all standard registered geographical regions (according to IETF language tag and IANA Subtag Registry). Our main criteria for this repository is that all the flags are available as Public Domain. So far we managed to collect information for 240 out of 246 needed flag which are all available as Public Domain on Wikipedias or Commons. Few examples:
- SZ: File:Flag_of_Swaziland.svg
- TA: File:Flag_of_Tristan_da_Cunha.svg
- TC: File:Flag_of_the_Turks_and_Caicos_Islands.svg
- TD: File:Flag_of_Chad.svg
- TG: File:Flag_of_Togo.svg
- TH: File:Flag_of_Thailand.svg
- TJ: File:Flag_of_Tajikistan.svg
- TK: File:Flag_of_Tokelau.svg
Your file, Flag of Nicaragua, is among those 6 which are not release under Public Domain and I'm contacting you to see if it would be possible to re-license this image under PD. Obviously, if you agree to do this, we will make sure that a link-back to Commons page for the image as well as authors' attribution are embedded in the file's metadata fields. We will also provide all the authors of those images collected with a link to the public repository where last version of images are stored. I'd appreciate it if you let me know about the possibility of this. Thank you very much in advance. --Shervinafshar (talk) 00:28, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

Komsomol Emblem
[edit]Hey! I noticed that the current emblem of Komsomol, used on its page, seems to be a modified emblem of modern Russian Komsomol (LKSM RF) by Stanislav Roningrad (differing only by the main red field, with a different label, Lenin and some glosss, but sharing the frame and small parts of the flag). Do you happen to have the source .svg of the LKSM RF emblem? Many thanks. Parasite03 (talk) 22:56, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Soviet Space Patches
[edit]Hello, how are you?
I liked your work in Zvezda Rocket and I'd like to ask: is possible for you make the same thing with the patches from Soyuz 3, Vimpel Diamond, Soyuz TM-2, Soyuz T-15 and Vostok 6? I think that a recreation looks better than the photograph in the articles. Thanks, Erick Soares3 (talk) 22:49, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
SVG optimization
[edit]Hi. You've recently done some "file optimization" on File:Coat of arms of the Soviet Union 1.svg. Is there any way to make it human-readable? It's all on one line right now, with no spacing, etc. What tool did you use for it, and how do you verify that the effect of the optimizations is the same as the original image (except for eye-balling it)? Hello C records, I was wondering if you could make a flat version of this emblem you created a while ago. The English Wikipedia's guidelines prefer flat SVG logos, so it would be really helpful if you could upload a flat WPK emblem as a separate file. Revectorization of File:Coat of arms of the Soviet Union (1936–1946).svg
[edit]Hi, I was wondering if you would be willing to do a revectorization of File:Coat of arms of the Soviet Union (1936–1946).svg. That file is the only vector version of the 1936 coat of arms of the USSR here and is poorly vectorized since it's a bitmap tracing of a raster image. It's also not accurate to the official design which can be found here. Your work on the 1956 coat of arms was really good and an accurate depiction of the official design of the USSR coat of arms. Would you be willing to do something similar for that file? Thank you. Colohisto (talk) 07:45, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
