Why did you remove a page from translation?
[1] — what's going on? That's the page of an actively used script, the page is actively translated, it is linked from edit tags and automatic summaries (such as [2]), and people are supposed to read it in their language. Jack who built the house (talk) 19:22, 29 January 2021 (UTC)

Translation and references

- Ok, I didn't think of the non-Arabic numbers. However, this only makes limited sense, because - as far as I know - the wiki software always turns “#” into Arabic numbers. But you can undo my editing if you prefer the other layout. -- Brackenheim (talk) 11:18, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
Translation markup for Wiki Loves Africa page
So... let me see if I understand well... We had TRANSLATED the pages, without using translation markup. You come and add translation markup without telling us and so now since the translation pages are NOT translated... our nice landing pages are all in English ? - @Brackenheim: If the translation extention is a function not common at Commons, my presumption was not right, I was overjoyed to find out WLA through mailing list: at least I should have consulted tech help to import already translated languages. The good news is that with translation extension whenever changes are made to /en, other language pages are marked that update is needed. Hence, every entrant/voter shares universal information, and I believe that’s what counts for fairness if you mind. - The problem being that once pages are marked for translation, until they are actually translated with the markup system, they are reverted back to English, even though they were already translated initially (on a regular wiki page, not using the markup). So practically, it is a regression. On top, since we were not notified, this could have gone unnoticed for quite a while :( Fortunately, Guillaume was able to quickly re-do the French and hopefully Habib or Summer or others will come to translate the arabic (the page now is a mix of English and Arabic). Could you please do protection against basic vandalism of translated pages ? Because they are translation and I am not a translation admin, I can not protect them and they are vandalised. Thanks Anthere (talk)

Доброго дня!
Ви брали участь у конкурсі «Вікі любить Землю» в Україні раніше, тож приносимо вам важливу новину — цього року конкурс відбудеться протягом червня.
Як і в попередні роки, долучитися до змагання можуть усі охочі — як професійні фотографи, так і аматори. Головне, щоб ви любили Землю і розділяли ідею конкурсу — представити природно-заповідні території України за допомогою світлин під вільними ліцензіями. У Вікіпедії та Вікісховищі конкурсні фото будуть доступні тисячам людей.
Загальний формат конкурсу буде таким же, як у минулі роки. Протягом травня ми опублікуємо детальні умови та можливості для участі у спеціальних номінацій. Стежте за новинами проєкту у Фейсбуці, Інстаграмі або у блозі. Також ключова інформація буде з'являтися на сторінці у Вікісховищі.
Під час зйомок у заповідних територіях просимо дотримуватися правил їх відвідування і встановлених карантинних обмежень. Найважливіші правила ми зібрали тут.

Привіт!
З 1 по 30 вересня вже традиційно пройде українська частина міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки»! В Україні цей конкурс пройде вже вдесяте. На конкурс можна подавати власні фото пам'яток історико-культурної спадщини України — і змагатися за призи. Більше можна прочитати за посиланням.
Радимо ознайомитися із детальними правилами, а також із відповідями на часті питання. Як і того року — у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток» можна отримати 21 бал за фотографії об'єктів, якщо світлин цієї пам'ятки раніше не було завантажено.
Нагадаємо, що всі фотографії автоматично беруть участь у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток»; однак для того, щоб фото позмагалося у номінації «Найкраще фото», потрібно підтвердити це при завантаженні.
Цього року вперше будуть окремо виділені фото з повітря (дронами, квадрокоптерами тощо) — у спеціальній номінації «Аерофото». Для того, щоб робота потрапила на спецномінацію потрібно вибрати її у Завантажувачі.
Також вперше проводиться спеціальна номінація «Пам'ятки Подесення», знову пройдуть спецномінації «Відео», «Єврейська спадщина», «Млини», «Пам'ятки національно-визвольної боротьби» та «Via Regia Ukraine». Для участі світлин у цих спецномінаціях не потрібно обирати нічого у Завантажувачі — світлини зараховуватимуться автоматично з відповідних списків.

Важливо! Цього року відбулася адміністративно-територіальна реформа. Однак, ми проводимо конкурс ще за попереднім адміністративно-територіальним устроєм. Ми почали роботу над створенням списків з новим поділом, але вона ще не є завершена. Ви можете користуватися тими новими списками, що вже є, якщо потрібно відшукати пам'ятку за новим поділом (деякі ОДА вже почали присилати у такому форматі), але пам'ятайте, що нові списки ще не є повними.

Нагадуємо, що до 30 вересня включно можна вантажити світлини та відео культурної спадщини України до національного етапу міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки»!
Зараз Україна посідає 3-є місце за кількістю завантажених світлин, поступаючись Російській Федерації та Німеччині. За першу половину місяця було завантажено світлини пам'яток із усіх регіонів України, але частина із них є дуже погано представлена. Севастополь зараз представлений тільки однією пам'яткою і одним фото, Крим — 12 пам'яток і 51 фото. Детальніше — у таблиці:

Цього року у конкурсі є вісім спеціальних номінацій:

- «Відео» — для відеосюжетів з пам'ятками;

could you please explain your application of the personality rights tag?
You applied {{Personality rights}} to this image of famous actor George Clooney, on a scheduled appearance on a red carpet.
There is no explanation on File talk:George_Clooney_The_Men_Who_Stare_at_Goats_TIFF09.jpg as to why this particular image needed special warning.

- I very strongly disagree with you.
- First, it is a human factors issue. People are busy. Our information pages are crowded. The first time, or the first couple of times, they learn to tune out the things that aren't immediately relevant. Placing this tag on image pages increases everyone's cognitive burden.
- Second, I am afraid you fans of this template can't agree, among yourselves, what the template is for, and when it should and when it shouldn't be used.
- Third, the template itself is a mess. It is horribly written, alarmingly implying all kinds of people face criminal penalties.
- Fourth, adding muck to information templates adds to the maintenance burden for those pages. Geo Swan (talk) 18:13, 16 September 2022 (UTC)

Цього року українська частина міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки» пройде з 1 по 31 жовтня — через російське вторгнення в Україну також довелося змінити умови: тільки світлини зроблені до 23 лютого 2022 року включно будуть прийматися в основній частині конкурсу.
В Україні цей конкурс пройде вже водинадцяте. На конкурс можна подавати власні фото пам'яток історико-культурної спадщини України — і змагатися за призи. Більше можна прочитати за посиланням.
Радимо ознайомитися із детальними правилами, а також із відповідями на часті питання. Як і того року — у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток» можна отримати 21 бал за фотографії об'єктів, якщо світлин цієї пам'ятки раніше не було завантажено.

Hallo, die translation sollte erfolgen damit alle Sprachversionen den neuen Parameter weiterleiten. Wenn ich wüsste wie die zu triggern ist brauche ich keine Hilfe - falls ich auch als Nicht-Translator das anstossen kann. Offensichtlich ist es nicht ausreichend, {{Fotowerkstatt/i18n}} zu ändern? -- sarang♥사랑 05:05, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hallo Sarang, doch, eigentlich sollte es ausreichen, die Seite "/i18n" zu ändern. Die muss dann freigegeben werden, dann sollte alles funktionieren. Klappt es auf irgendeiner Seite nicht? Hättest Du mir da ein Beispiel? Gruß, -- Brackenheim (talk) 10:49, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
- Danke BCM, um 09:33 ist der translate gelaufen - nach meinem aber vor deinem Beitrag, und erst 17 Stunden nach der /i18n-Änderung. Ich kenne nicht die Umstände aber nun ist es ja erfolgt, ich hätte wohl nur länger warten müssen statt dich zu fragen -- sarang♥사랑 11:45, 20 October 2022 (UTC)
