Re:Question on removing copyvio tags

[edit]

See the date of the pictures. See {{PD-US-no notice}}, {{PD-US-not renewed}} and {{PD-US-defective notice}}. --Amitie 10g (talk) 17:50, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Amitie 10g: - I'm unclear on the templates to which you are linking - can you just say what you mean rather than trying to get me to scramble around to guess at your meaning? Your first sentence seems to suggest you believe the copyright may be expired (I understand they do expire - but you're not saying it, leaving me to guess). Then the linked templates supplied as "explanation" are so vague as to possibly mean other things.
Is there at the very least a guideline, policy, or even essay on-site you can link that can better convey what you are trying to say? --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 18:06, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging copyvios

[edit]

Hi, When tagging copyright violations, please inform the uploader. This is best done using the gagdet. See in your preferences. Regards, Yann (talk) 18:08, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the tip to the gadget option - I've selected it for future use. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 18:18, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

SEVERAL PRODUCERS WHO MAY HAVE UPLOADED OLD TITLE CARD

[edit]

The card was uploaded last night, not at COMMONS, but at the other as well. It was done at both to cover our bases. It was just done once again today. Please take a look for yourself. The new file title just uploaded at the WIKIPEDIA FILE UPLOAD WIZARD is: The World Tomorrow (radio and television).----dollyparton7 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dollyparton7 (talk • contribs) 22:18, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Look in the upper left of this page. The site you are on is the Wikimedia Commons. Look at the URL of this page, it is hosted at "commons.wikimedia.org". If this site were for the sister project of Wikipedia, the Wikipedia icon would be in the upper left of every page, and the URL would be "en.wikipedia.org". --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 22:21, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, Barek

Our sincere thanks and gratitude for assisting us with this upload. I'm sorry, but before I was so confused. Please accept our regrets and apologies for all previous misunderstandings and wrong accusations stemming from simple frustration. God Bless, all. ----Earl — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dollyparton7 (talk • contribs) 23:40, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I can fully understand the frustration. Copyright law is a royal pain in the ... well, you get the idea. And because of that pain, our process ends up being annoyingly convoluted to satisfy many of the potential variances within copyright law. It just makes for a major headache for all involved.
I see the upload request is submitted; once one of the team that reviews those gets it uploaded to Wikipedia, I can continue with assisting to get it inserted into the article. Note: they may still contact you with follow-up questions, and it may take several days depending on which volunteers are active this week. But (I think) we are at least a step closer now. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 23:53, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
