Hello, I noticed you uploaded the same file twice on this page, changing only the description. Just so you know, there is an edit tab at the top of the page, that you should use when you want to change the content of the page (as opposed to the actual file). • One more remark: when you upload images on Commons, you should always crop the borders (see Image:Heraldique Meuble Epee Pointe en bas.svg). If one needs to display an image with borders, it should be done with wiki markup (the rationale is: it's easy to add margins, it's hard to remove them). Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Bonjour, j'ai comme l'impression que vous avez repris le code de ma page d'utilisateur, non ? :-) Ça n'est évidemment pas un problème, bien au contraire, mais j'en profite juste pour vous donner un petit conseil : remplacez {{User:Archimatth/User France}} par {{Template:User France}}. Dans mon cas, le template se trouve mon namespace parce que je l'ai créé moi-même (pas beaucoup de Suisses sur Commons apparemment), mais le template pour la France se trouve bel et bien dans le namespace Template:. Bonsoir. C'est absolument le cas. J'avais bien l'intention de vérifier une autre fois le modèle Pays en question. Je trouve laborieuses et pas assez corrélées (spécialement sur Commons) les explications structurelles. C'est pourquoi la façon la plus efficace pour moi est souvent de copier sans forcément tout comprendre, quitte à rectifier les erreurs ensuite. Vous m'aviez laissé quelques messages bienvenus en décembre en anglais, lorsque je ne comprenais vraiment rien ici ! Depuis j'ai créé un Projet pour la ville de Metz, certaines pages sur Wiki, d'autres blasons, quelques images, et aussi des galeries et des catégories (sans avoir encore tout à fait cerné l'architecture de tout ça, apparemment il existe de nombreuses zones intersticielles) ; j'ai fabriqué quelques graphiques démographiques aussi. Merci pour l'information, c'est bien pour pouvoir mieux échanger que j'ai amélioré ma page utilisateur. J'espère à bientôt. Bien cordialement, Archimatth (talk) 22:25, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
