User talk:Allauddin~commonswiki
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

Hello, and thank your for sharing your files with Commons. There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. Please remember that all uploads require source, author and license information. Could you please resolve these problems, which are described on the page linked in above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which information may be missing. Thank you.

Transfer to Commons
[edit]Hi, like written in bold letters inside the welcome template at the top of this page: If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper. You are failing to transfer the images respecting the terms of the GFDL licence, this licence requires a complete filehistory. I will check some of your uploads, but please use this tool in future, you must create a login there, but it is realy simple. --Martin H. (talk) 00:23, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- Please see for example this edit, you did the author (you are not the author) and date wrong, you failed to provide categories. Please use this Tool. --Martin H. (talk) 00:30, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- hi martin, thanks for your helping ! actually, commons uploading does not mention clearly what to write and where ! and as i'm quite much contributing in the french wiki, i'haven't much time to study all this. i will try to me more acccurate next time. --Allauddin
Image Tagging Image:Santouri.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Santouri.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Martin H. - this picture is coming from the a greek wiki project called PHANTIS as i specified it. --Allauddin
- Hi again, you should ask the uploader at Phantis for permission to publish the image under GFDL, according to the phantis statement at What Phantis Wiki is not#Notes the images are assumed to be not GFDL. The uploader (User:Lazarus) must be the author of the image, otherwise he can not give you the GFDL permission. You should ask him on his talkpage at Phantis, you can take his answer as a permission. According to his contributions he is active there, Good luck! --Martin H. (talk) 16:18, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- p.s.: I extended the deletion deadline of this image, it seems to be very supposably that you will get this permission. --Martin H. (talk) 16:21, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- i really don't understand why you ask for deletion and license as all pictures on phantis are free GNU FDL !

The Phantis:Wiki is neither a mirror nor a repository of links, images, or media files. All content added to the Phantis:Wiki may have to be edited mercilessly to be included in the reference guide. By submitting any content, you agree to release it for free use under the GNU FDL. Allauddin
Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:37, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

File tagging File:Kishore_kumar.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.

Thanks for uploading File:Kishore_kumar.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the No permission since tag with on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded (:File:Kishore_kumar.jpg ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Allauddin. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Allauddin~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
